Jul 2018 - $20.00
Good value. 50 amp, no sewer or water at site but has dump station. Lot was level. Nice playgrounds for kids. Lake with docks for fishing and a small boat ramp. Restaurant was closed. - PawPaw1969
Oct 2017 - $20.00
We stayed 4 days in a class A motorhome. The road into the park is paved but each site is gravel. The sites could use more gravel. There were few night light posts and all could use a good cleaning. The dock area had no lighting and was really dark. The shower house needs updating and cleaning. The push button showers do not stay on long enough and the water was extremely hot. Bonus was lots of trees for shade. Host was friendly. - Marigold

This is an old park, and needs some TLC. The showerhouse was dirty and needs a good coat of paint after cleaning. The campsites are gravel, and some more gravel wouldn't hurt. It is clear that little is being done on maintenance in this park. The campsites are wooded, so lots of shade from the sun. The lake is lovely, and there's a dock near the campsites to fish from, or tie up a boat. In short, IDNR could do better than they're doing in this state park campsite. - User3333

Have stayed several times. Out in the country with farm fields on three sides. Very quiet. Has FHU with 30 amp electric. No laundry or store. Newton Lake is about one mile east with good fishing. - ROPeach
Jul 2014 - $15.00
We found this park because the local State Park was full for the busy July 4th weekend. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised how nice this campground was. While small with only 30 sites, there where 3 long term trailer along the edge. Beside those units, we had the entire park. This on a holiday weekend! This park suffers from lack of advertising or a website. All sites are on grass but the ground is hard and we didn't have any issues, even after a rain. Water and Sewer and 30 amp at all sites. Large rig friendly and several pull-through sites. This campground doesn't offer anything fancy, no Wi-Fi, no cable, no shower, but it does have a restroom with toilets only. If you want to camp near Lake Newton, or want to camp in a quiet location, this is the place for you. We have never had a nicer campsite for the price. (While the address is in Newton, IL it's actually closer to Bogota, IL.) - damonbeals
May 2017 - $15.00
This is a very good park for the price. The sites are level and there is ample shade and grass. There is also a nice play ground for the kids near the sites. Pets are welcome and its lovely to leash your dogs and walk around the lake or the park itself. Theres a small lake you can fish at and is beautiful to picnic at. Bathrooms are nice..showers are HOT with good pressure. Park staff are nice and come around to collect for the site. Sites have a fire ring..picnic table...electric and water. The town nearby has fast food...grocery store..hospital..and walmart less than 4 mi away. - Spicer09
May 2016 - $15.00
Beautiful city park, a little off the beaten path, but with reasonable RV camping, this worked. We overnighted here and didn't unhook. Sites were a little hard to figure out on signage, but level enough. Lots of playground equipment & small train for the kiddies. Camp office was open when we got there, so no problem getting layout info, but for late pull-ins, could be a challenge. Caretaker will come around in morning to collect. Large pull-throughs in basically non-designated areas other than looking for electrical hookup accessibility was a little confusing, but price was very reasonable for what you got. Plus, I repeat, park was beautiful and well-maintained. - kharmaquest
Jun 2011 - $15.00
Pretty park, grassy sites (that can get muddy with rain), sort of level. Electrical hook-up was good and Verizon aircard worked. Water hook-up was too far to reach. Some of the sites had the water near the electrical but ours were on different ends of the site roughly 70' apart. You may want to fill up your fresh tank before you come. - Traveler_2011
