Some GPS units may send you to the wrong location; but ours was accurate. Call to get directions if you feel it's necessary. The interesting thing about this campground was that you had to drive through the grass to be able to "pull-through" your campground; which is exactly what they want you to do. They even have you follow their golf-cart to get to your site doing this. Full hookups at all sites; everything worked as it should. The sites were a little close for such a big area. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Quick overnight on the way to SoCal. Nice quiet park with lots of mature trees for shade. Surrounded by fields. Some might say a little run-down, but fine for me. Level sites. Helpful on-site manager. I wish all the higher-priced parks had internet as good as Prairie Pines'! Not super-fast but solid; it didn't fade to nothing in the evening. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

We decided to stop here rather than one of the "better", private, more expensive RV parks farther south on I-57 to save a few bucks. We've been her before and knew what to expect. We had a roomy, fairly level, FHU, pull through site. Since we knew there is no cable TV, we were happily surprised to be able to get a satellite friendly site in this park that has lots of tall trees. The Wi-Fi was fine for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. The bathrooms were clean and the laundry appeared adequate for this park. I saw no other amenities or recycling in the park. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Host waited after hours to guide us to a site that we could pull through. Excellent service. Lovely wooded, green sites. Appears to be an old mobile home park converted to city park. Long sites. I needed to wash clothes. Small, clean laundry with 2 washers and 2 dryers. Low price to wash, but bring quarters as no way to get change on site. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

We were here about this time ( the last full service weekend of the season) back in 2013 (that review and many recent ones give decent descriptions of this park). We again had a FHU, pull through site. We were fortunate (lots of tall trees in the park) to be able to get satellite TV reception. The Wi-Fi worked well enough for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. I see no recycling. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Prairie Pines has about 75 sites, many are pull-thru which are very spacious. We camped in a 45' coach and had plenty of room to pull in and extend 4 slides. The campground is managed by the city of Rantoul, IL, and has an on-site manager. The manager was helpful and efficient, plus provides personal escort to your site and insures all is good. The bathhouse/laundry facility is large and very clean. The large sites have a patio, fire ring, good wi-if, no cable. All sites are full hook-up. All sites provide good 50 amp service. The campground is conveniently located off I-57, close to town (Walmart for stocking up), and only about 15 minutes north of Champaign, IL (home to University of Illinois.) Prairie Pines is a well-managed campground whether for an overnight stay or longer. We will definitely return when visiting family in the area. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed in our 40' MH. Strange parking arrangement as you are led through the back of the park on the grass to then pull into your site. Then when you leave you have to drive off a parking curb. There was a sizeable hole that we had to straddle when leaving. They only take checks or cash. This was just an overnight stop on our way home. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

A hidden gem, in as much as they could use signs to get you there. Aside from that this is a great park for an overnight or longer if you need to be in the area. Park building has individual restroom/showers and laundry. Utilities including wifi worked fine. Nice shady sites and ours was level. At 26.50 (cash/check, card is 30) it is well worthwhile. A few miles to Walmart and other stuff. Walmart is at the I-57 interchange so stop on your way to the CG. Mobile gas at the intersection with lots of turning room.

We stayed one night on a relocation trip. This is a nice distance to drive from Elkhart. Lots of grass and mature trees. Not near any freeways so it is quiet. During planting or harvesting season there could be more activity. As others mentioned we were guided across the expansive lawn area and around trees to create a pull thru slot. There is no WiFi, but we had three bars on the Verizon MiFi. We picked up several OTA TV stations. We didn't need a reservation on Saturday in Mid September. There were several other people parked here, but not crowded with decent space between slots. New Laundry equipment. We had a cement patio and picnic table. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Would I stay again? Yes!

The good news: pull-thru sites, large, spacious, full hookups.

Clean showers. Good rate. Quiet. Playground for kids.

The not so good: Lots of flying insects and sites are grassy, weedy, obviously not sprayed. Tables are old and rough. Shower handle was replaced with monkey wrench. Toilet stopped up.

Located next to close AFB Chanute. Felt like it wad being held together with bailing wire and gum.

About the only RV park in this stretch. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park run by the City of Rantoul, IL. Location is the former Chanute AFB that closed in 1993. The RV park is located on the grounds where the base mobile home park used to be, so odd sidewalks and driveways here and there. Host was awesome. Showers and baths in the old dental facility, musty, but clean. Nice room between sites, and you cannot beat the price for 50 AMP FHU. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice, well maintained, quiet, restful campground. We understand it use to be a mobile home park associated with the closed USAF base. The sites are grouped in clusters of four. The hosts were friendly and helpful, leading us through the grassy yards to make the site a pull through which was very long. The roads are paved and the sites are old blacktop with a cement patio and picnic table. When exiting you have to drive over a small curb onto the road. There are many mature trees but our rooftop dish worked well. Their WiFi did not work but our Verizon hotspot worked. The 50a power was good as was water and sewer, we had to use 2 sewer hoses to reach the connection. We liked this peaceful CG. It's about 5 or 6 minutes off I57, there are several gas stations and fast food restaurants at the expressway intersection. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The site we had was a back in but since no one behind us we were shown to it as if it was a pull through. We were surprised by the park. A little tired and in need of TLC it is still a great value in a very nice location. Would stay here again if in the area. sites are wide and a mix of grass and gravel. Well treed park but we were able to get satellite. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is small but well kept. The majority of the RVers were over 60 years old, so it felt more like a retirement community. Aside from the small airport next door, the noise level was very low. The campground has a small playground for little kids, not much else. Our sole purpose was to find a quiet place to relax and Prairie Pines provided that for us. We would definitely revisit this campground again.
