We were pleasantly pleased with this spacious park with river access and many wide open spaces. Our digital antenna came in excellent. Seasonal folks were friendly. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the most beautiful RV park we have ever stayed. It has a lot of property with 2 large open fields and 2 pavilions, many different sports activities and a pond. It is right next to a river with a boat ramp. However, I am not sure there is a road to take a vehicle and boat to the boat launch. Many people have residential RVs there year around and I understand. It is gorgeous! One resident RV has a miniature train village next to his or her RV, beautifully lit at night. There are two bath houses. The one I used had only one sink with scorching hot water (no cold water). We hope to return many times in the future. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground has a lot of open space. The lawn and landscaping are well maintained. The Wi-fi works pretty well at the sites. The sites are quite close together. We enjoyed our one night stay here. The only problem was when we called to change our reservation from Saturday to Friday, there was a lot of confusion and misinformation on their end. They couldn't find our reservation, but told me they didn't have any openings for Friday anyway. When I called later with the date they charged my credit card and told them they had put me on site 52, they said they didn't have a site 52. The woman on the phone was fumbling around with paperwork. Finally she found my reservation under "V" instead of "B", and then she was able to move me to Friday night on the same site. I didn't understand why she told me earlier that they were all booked up when obviously they had an open site, but was grateful to have it figured out. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here just one night as we headed for Wisconsin. This is a very nice park off the beaten path yet just 15 miles from Rockford. Well kept grounds with mature trees throughout. Very friendly staff in the office. The next time in the area we will definitely stay longer. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is down at the bottom of a steep, narrow road on the Kishwaukee River. We stayed here in a 42 foot 5th wheel and were able to negotiate the turns without any trouble. The pull thru site was gravel/grass and included a picnic table and fire pit. The view and ambiance are what make this park charming. We had a wonderful view of a huge greenspace with big, beautiful trees around us.The river was a stones throw away from our site. The pull thru site had water/sewer/electric and was level. There was no cable TV and wifi was spotty at best. My wife and I are on different cell phone carriers and for the first time in 4 years, neither of us got a signal. However, the grounds are immaculate and the large green spaces made our short stay here worthwhile. There are lots of seasonal campers in here and one can understand why when you see the property. The internal roads can be tight and dusty since they are gravel/dirt. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Rockford, IL has the Anderson Japanese Gardens (best in the nation) and the Kehm Arboretum. The Riverwalk downtown is also very nice along with the public rose gardens. The rivers in the area are good for kayaking as well.

Many Seasonal sites. My neighbor was a full timer in a park model. He cut the grass & weeded the slab. Saw me cutting kindling and came over with 2x4 scraps to get the fire going. Steep single lane hill in and out, so you need to ensure no one is on the hill at the same time. Play ground, hoarse shoes, mini golf, etc., to entertain the kids. This is a lovely campground. Seasonals ring the outside of the campground and most are well maintained and look very pretty. There are two large green areas. We were very happy to get an easy pull thru site. Parking is opposite each other so you either look at the river side or the green space. We had a 50 amp full hookup but were told by the neighbor to use just 1 ac as the power spikes. Ok no problem - we have power monitoring and we had no issues. The entrance into the park was just fine. For a Passport park it is pretty nice. However the amenities are lacking. the lounge area looks run down and filled with stuff. I guess there is an auction next month, maybe that is why. The laundry room was oppressive no fans, just miserable. No change machine so you have to wait for office to open at 10:30. We came to do laundry and have wifi. Wifi isn't working. Why advertise that you have it if it doesn't work? This could be a 9 park but instead instead is just a 6. Infrastructure work needs to be done. Do your laundry in town - have AC there and probably wifi! We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is situated along the Kishwaukee River just south of Rockford. It is a very nice setting, quiet and peaceful. Most sites are occupied by seasonal RVs which are kept neat and tidy. We stayed two nights in a pull thru FHU site on grass. The sites in this area are set up so that two RVs share a common utility area along their highway sides. The campground was not busy when we were there, but in busy times you might find your door facing another RVers door. Also, even though the campground offers FHU the rules expressly prohibit use of washers on board RVs. I've never before encountered such a prohibition in a campground. We stayed at this campground to visit friends in the area and would likely return if in the area again. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Big well-kept campground that borders the Kishwaukee River. Level sites, quite a few trees, big play area for kids plus a putt-putt golf course. We stayed in site 72 which had a fairly large low spot that was a bit messy after some rains, but other than that, it was a nice site. Quite a few seasonal campers (all well-kept sites).

The only reason I didn't give a 10 rating was because of closeness of sites to one another. Prefer a bit more breathing room, but we will definitely stay at this place again if in the area. Also, because you are in a valley at this campground the cell (Verizon) and TV reception (antenna only) was hit & miss. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed in a pull-through site with a 45ft motor home and tow vehicle. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I paid an additional $5.00 per night to use my second air-conditioner. I would prefer to have the additional electric cost built-in to the 50 amp electrical charge instead of paying an fee per air-conditioner. Washer dryer usage in my coach was prohibited. Not quite sure why. Campground was easy to navigate. Motorcycles are not permitted in the campground, but there is a protected area to park. I enjoyed my stay and will return next year. Absolutely beautiful campground for all RV's! We arrived early- 10 am- office did not open til 10:30. They had open sites posted for after hours , so we thought we would take one of those, but a nice gentleman mowing the lawns saw us and came to check us in. Very accomodating. Sites were spacious, level and pull through. Lots of seasonal campers here with sites along the river. What impressed us the most was the way ALL of the seasonals kept their sites well groomed, clean and homey looking. The grounds are beautiful and it has a beautiful big playground area. We were only here as a stopover for one night, but would definitely come back if we were in the area again. Really nice campground. We did not use any laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi, or rest rooms. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Price reflexes eight day/night stay on a 50 amp full hook up angled back in site with grass between the site and a concrete patio. Other sites are straight back in and straight pull-thrus. The pull thrus are interesting as one side the RV door will face each other and others are back to back. Lots of sites share the water hook up. Could be why the water pressure was so low. Sites are on gravel/grass. Lots of trees. Some need trimmed back. Wi-fi hot spot in the office, but we were able to get it at our trailer with our Alfa Network Antenna, most of the time. Slower to limited connection after 4 pm and on the weekend. Was able to get some some cell phone service with Verizon, but not all the time. Have to go to the top of the hill by the storage lot to get better reception. Received eight TV stations on the antenna. Allows campfires. Easy in & out with a HDT & trailer (60 ft. combo)

Some of the rules. No use of washers in RV and if using second A/C there will be a charge. Visitors, there will be a charge. No power bikes or motorcycles can go past the office. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park itself was very nice: nice, well kept, neat. However, they need to get with the program and put WIFI at each site rather just at the office. Also they need to get cable TV. 2 nites would be my max at this park. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Wonderful place to stay, very large sites with fire rings and picnic tables, we used Passport America for the low rate of $14. Did not use any restrooms. I Believe they are closing for the season in mid October. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
