Nice campground, good value, best part is the hosts. They were amazing. It was so nice to be welcomed after driving all day. Best hosts we have ever had. Close to Lincoln sites. Highly recommend. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We were on a hill and had to use our ramps to level the trailer. We were near to older restroom and shower building. They were in need of cleaning . We started using the new shower and restroom building. It was much cleaner. The location was good for us. Would stay here again. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Great value! It is a typical, modern fairground campground: a parking lot with level sites, good water, electricity, no shade. We called the office telephone number twice on Sunday, left messages but no callback. On Monday, we did what other reviewers advised: we went in thru Gate 11 (open 24 hours a day) and called the security telephone number (posted near the gate). He advised us to go to the Handicapped lot, pick any site and he came up to unlock the electric box. We stayed two nights so we were there when the office opened on Wednesday morning and paid before we left. We will definitely stay there again! We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

A great, inexpensive spot for an overnight or even an extended stay - providing no events in progress at the fair grounds. With only a few others at the campground we had our choice of sites, which was fortunate as the majority of the sites are grassy hill sides. There is also a parking lot set up for RVs with all hookups (including sewer) which the majority of the larger rigs opted for. In the grassy area there appeared to be only 2 sites with sewer (C07 & 08?) which were back in. We opted for one in a flat hill top area which was great for satellite reception and dog walking. The camp host was not on site (limited hours/days) but security, whose number is clearly posted, was quite responsive and arrived within 5 minutes to unlock our site's electrical outlet. Same in the morning when leaving. The dump station was easy access though the cleaning water piping was not usable as it was riddles with leaks. All in all, very pretty area, great for an overnight stay. Though I would be hesitant to stay if an event was in progress. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects weekly rate. The place was practically empty being pre-Memorial Day. Most others were on the FHU on grass; it was too crowded for us. The FHU on asphalt wasn't appealing. Tall grass spot with W+E with no one else near was our choice. They have a dump station. The grass around us eventually got mowed. These spots are very closely spaced and most were on a slope. No picnic table or fire ring.

If it were a busy time, then you may have a different experience. Loved walking around the grounds. Shower house was large and heated (it was chilly out), but not very clean. Same clumps of hair were still there after a week. Check out how the water comes out before committing to a stall. When we arrived, the CG manager took us for a ride around the grounds; how cool is that?! (Not something they normally do.)

They said we could have mail delivered there, but UPS couldn't figure it out. Luckily we had a few days to resolve it by my going to UPS to pick up my package.

They had a free concert while we were here. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

The location is perfect for visiting all the Lincoln related stuff in town. We walked the 2+ miles; 6th street is the better route. Lincoln park is an easy walk (take a right out of gate 10 or 11 and go one block).

The Lincoln Museum was fantastic.

We stayed here one night as we passed through the area. We have stayed at other fairgrounds and enjoyed the stay...not so at this one. Rough roads near office, sites with FHUs aren't laid out well in grassy area, they locked the main gate at 5:45pm while we were out getting gas. We could have stayed in the parking lot area, but with temps in the mid 90s last thing we wanted was hot asphalt. No picnic table and the grass needed to be mowed. We would not stay here again. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very large facility with sites that range from paved parking lot to grass fields. We chose to stay on a mostly level grass area with some tree coverage. The drive in was dirt so probaly difficult to manuver in rainy weather. The 30 amp electric and water were easily reached. As there were no events at the fairgrounds, we had a large area to ourselves, however each site is actually very close together. When you arrive you either stop at the office, or if it is unmanned, pick a space and call security. They will unlock the electric box and collect the nightly fee. There are large grassy areas to walk dogs. The WiFi was included and worked well. We had good Sprint and Verizon service. We were able to pick up antenna service easily. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Gate 10 does close early, gate 11 is open all night. We stayed down in asphalt parking lot so we would have good satellite reception. Had full hook ups, 50 amp. The fence referred to in another review was a guard rail set up, and really no big deal to get to the sewer hook up. Price was a good deal! Go in Gate 11. Office opens at 11:30am. Can be full at Fair time, or big events. Check ahead. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

This was our first night in the RV having picked it up earlier that day and never having driven one before; we arrived late and tired and the gentleman in charge was so helpful and kind in making sure we were hooked up properly as we didn't have a clue!

The campground is in a very convenient location and is very well maintained. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

We go every year to the ILL State Fair and we camp on the fairgrounds site. I absolutely love it there! I turn into a big kid! Our neighbor's site was nearby. Sites ranged from a sunny/open exposure to some shade. Site surface was asphalt. 30 and 50 amp electric was available. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Surprising amenities for a fairground camping spot. Super friendly folks at check-in, very helpful with selecting a site and local information. Good security and well lit at night. We were here after the state fair closed and the campground was mostly empty. Choice of asphalt, gravel, or grass sites. Lincoln's Tomb is within walking distance (if you don't mind a long walk), and you're only about 10 blocks from historic downtown. Immediate vicinity is a quiet residential area. Great location and a good value with over 55 discount. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is a perfect park for us at least. You have your choice of grass/gravel sites with some shade, or asphalt sites with no shade. We always choose no shade due to satellite TV. Utilities are good except for the sewer, which is over a wide guardrail from the sites, requiring you to walk down to the end of the row and back up to your site to insert the sewer hose that you hopefully remembered to toss thru the guardrail before you left.

Good water pressure, no issues with the 50-amp electric. Wifi was wonderful. Security staff was excellent. The campground office is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so security handles all check-ins those 2 days.

This campground is nearly empty unless there is an event at the fairgrounds. It is very close to all the Lincoln sights and museums in Springfield. There are numerous trains a little ways away. We heard the whistles but not the wheels. We would stay here again. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Big rig friendly. Camped on one of limited full hook up sites on concrete pad. No dog park but lots of grass to walk dog. Bathroom and shower were old and very dirty. Springfield was 3 miles away with everything about President Lincoln. His tomb was 1.5 away. Old Salem, his young adult home, was 20 miles away and worth the visit. Walmart and other shopping was 15 minutes on other in Springfield. Very interesting capital city.

Extremely helpful young lady on check-in. Spent a lot of time taking us around in a golf cart to pick spot. Settled on one on the other side of the race track. Park not busy at all; very few campers so we had no neighbors and felt like the fairgrounds to ourselves. Fair was due to start the next week and all 800 sites would be taken. Would stay here again for great location in Springfield. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.
