This KOA is 3 miles east of I-55 but feels much further due to all the turns it takes to get here. We liked that because it felt very remote while being convenient to all the Lincoln historic sites. Nice pool, mini golf, bounce pad, banana bikes and play ground make it a nice family park. Lots of shade and adequately sized sites. They were pouring concrete patios to create some new "deluxe" sites and were planning on bringing in patio swings for these sites as well. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed one night passing through the area. The park was several miles off of I-55 but the quietness of the campground was well worth it. This is an older campground, gravel sites, all of our utilities worked well. Our site had no shade trees, but that didn't matter for our one night stay. The directional signage from the south I-55 entrance was excellent, it would have been hard to find this campground without those. It is all paved roads to the campground, trees are kept trimmed back well to prevent hitting your camper. The one lane bridge was no problem to navigate. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed a weekend in October and it was very nice. Plenty of signs telling you where to go, even after we missed a turn (navigators fault) we were able to find our way again very easily. Not a huge campground, but still nice. A simple park but good enough for the kids to play around on. My kids LOVED the bikes and since the campground wasn't crowded they could ride the bikes everywhere safely. Restrooms were always clean. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This park is very far off the beaten path and therefore very quiet. We stayed in a back-in overflow area with water and electric only because a weekend event had filled up the rest. The pool looked inviting. The mini-golf needed some TLC. We will stay here again if the others are full. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The road getting to this park narrow and it goes over a very narrow one lane bridge. If you are coming into the campground in a large motorhome be aware it is very difficult to navigate the very narrow road. The campground overlooks corn fields. The campground is 7 miles off the interstate and I would not recommend staying here if you are planning on doing activities in the Springfield area. There are other campgrounds much closer to the historic sites in Springfield. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

Rate reflected is using KOA points, and a $6.00 charge for 50 amp.
We stayed one night as a pass through area on on way to Indiana.
We arrived at our very nice, pull through site, to find it littered with trash and tons of cigarette butts on the ground and in the fire pit. Come on people... When you leave a campsite, it should be cleaner than when you found it!
I interrupted the hostesses dinner, and she had to call for my points, and seemed a little irritated by it, but she was still nice.
This is a very nice park, and spots are quite spacious.
I requested a rooftop satellite friendly space, which we received. The rest of the park was very nice, surrounded by trees and fields, and oh so quiet at night. We got a great nights sleep to continue with our travels in the morning. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

For a change of pace, we decided to take I-55 south from the Chicago area rather than I-57. This park is about 10 minutes (5-7 miles depending on which exit (88 or 94 you are using to get here)) from the interstate. The last mile is a narrow gravel road. The park is nestled in the middle of farms and most of the park is treed. Per their handout, there about 45 FHU sites with about half being pull-through and half back-to-back back-ins. There are also W&E sites, electric only, no hookups, and tent sites. There are also half a dozen cabins. We were in a row of FHU, pull-through sites on the west side of that park that had maybe 7-8 sites that were satellite friendly. Because we were able to get satellite and, being <300 miles from home (meaning we could get our home network channels), we did not bother to hook up to their cable. As shown in the handout, their are 24 cable channels and all you need to do is make the "normal" connection. Because their immediate area did not have cable service years ago, this park has their own satellite based system that they feed to the sites. Their WiFi worked fine. Of course, there were only about 20 other customers in the park so the internet performance might be different in a crowded park. Typical of KOAs, there were plenty of recreational facilities: a pool (closed for the season), a playground with older equipment, a small dog park, horseshoes, b-ball, volleyball, mini-golf, etc. The laundry (4 of each machine @ $1.50 each) and bath/shower facilities are in the main building. They are older, but clean. The office has small store area and some game tables. The park has propane for sale. Although some of the 20 RVs here might have been extended stay, I don't think anyone stays here all year (I think the park closes Nov. 1). I found the woman (owner?) in the office to be friendly and informative. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

Available spot for our 28' RV that night. Clean, level spot. Clean showers and restroom. Nice little pool. In a quiet farming area down a big, hilly road. RV did fine driving on it and the kids loved the ride. We pulled in after hours and the registration was easy - well marked map for us on the registration board. Big, grassy field across from the RV spots. Our spot was adjacent to a corn field! Surprised to see you had to pay for the jumpy pillow - never seen a KOA do that before. We will definitely come back if we are in the Springfield area again! We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

We were charged $42 one night and $39 another night. The two different rates reflect one night that we were charged an extra 3 dollars for 50 amp and another 3 dollars for air conditioning. After questioning why the extra 6 dollars, the next night we were only charged an extra 3 dollars. Sites are level and long but the interior roads and sites are in bad need of more gravel. It rained and there were many muddy puddles. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

Hard to find, as it is way out in the country. Very quiet.

Small campground. Does have a few camping cabins and a 2 that have bathrooms.

Has a playground and a pool.

Has satellite tv hook-ups at each site, now.

Offers a few pull-thru's and has tent sites.

Has a nice small dog-park.

Has a small supply store.

There is free wi-fi. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

Like others have said, a bit off the interstate, but not really that far. After hours check-in is easy as previously stated, unless someone else is ignorant to campground etiquette and takes your assigned spot. That isn't mostly the fault of the campground, although we have been in plenty of them who go to the effort of listing the available sites in the after-hours box. This time it wasn't a problem, but with medical equipment it easily could have been. Power is good, and water pressure is good. Our site is satellite friendly, although their website led us to believe that it wouldn't be. Having said that, we will more than likely return, making sure that we arrive during office hours. Our assigned site would have made tomorrow morning's egress from our site much, much easier. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

My husband and I stayed here in a motorhome for 5 months (hence the $20/night rate) during the summer of 2014, in order to visit family. The place couldn't have been better. We also stayed in one of the cabins while our RV was serviced. We highly recommend this campground. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make this a good experience. (I hate camping myself, but they made it bearable!) Pool was always clean. Mini golf is in great shape. Grounds are kept mowed and beautiful. They've added an adorable dog run that my dogs loved. They could go without their leashes in it and enjoyed their freedom. The campground has a back area with lush grass and woods to take walks in - with raspberries for the picking! There's a very clean laundry facility. Though we didn't need the bathrooms/showers, I did peek in and they were very clean. Tons of stuff for kids to do - including a huge jump thing that looks like a safe trampoline, and these silly little bikes that kids LOVE!! It's definitely family oriented, but it wasn't nuts. They didn't have organized activities, which was nice. Folks were able to relax and let their kids play in the huge playground and let the kids ride those bikes all over the campground, knowing everyone was safe. The place is in the quiet, beautiful country - no road noise or other annoying distractions. The owners are pet lovers as well, and made even our dogs feel welcome. There's plenty of tent spaces too. The cabin we had overnight allowed our dogs and was cute as can be! It had a nice bathroom, double bed and a set of bunk beds. Looked brand new and very clean. Had TV and air conditioning and a comfortable little porch with chairs and a grill, as well as the fire pit that the sites all have. The campground has a game room and a small store for necessities (and ice cream!). Can't say enough good about the owners. Awesome people. Also has a large covered deck for big groups. I've gone on and on, but still haven't said it all! Come here - you'll love it too! We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

Nice campground, but about 5 miles off the interstate. Very clean and friendly staff. Sites were easy to get in and out of. Park is in the middle of crop fields and tress. We would stay here again, if in the area. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

Four rigs with reservations arrived to find the office closed. It doesn't matter what amenities a campground has if you can't talk to a host. This is not what we expect from a KOA campground. Access road is narrow and in need of resurfacing. Sites were long; utilities good; location was quiet. Route from the South is marginal to unacceptable for big rigs towing due to angle of turns. Should recommend using exit 94. We camped at Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.
