1 Park near Sycamore, Illinois
Sep 2015 - $28.00
Monthly rate & power.
Ample room to maneuver and park. Roads, sites, trails are road base gravel and not too dusty. Grounds are kept in a nice condition. Some sites backup to each other, but they are offset not rear to rear and are level. Power, sewer location, water are conveniently located. Washer/dryer worked fine but expensive. Wifi mostly worked. There are many rules, some contradict so they keep you guessing and the patrolers are quick to point them out. It obvious campers are being watched continuously so it's hard to relax. Almost any supplies or restaurants are minutes away. We're still looking for our most comfortable campground in the Chicago area. - duster340
Aug 2015 - $30.00
The park is pleasant. There are a few trees in the long term section and basically none in the short term. The roads are and sites are gravel. There is a large fishing pond and nice grass areas. It is very quiet except when there is activity at the silos next door. The campsite is spacious gravel with picnic table and fire pit. Typical 20/30/50 electric. The water has good smell and taste but does not rinse well, running at 40psi which can drop. No cable only a few OTA channels. Wifi is free through Tengo; speed varies greatly but is adequate for general internet and occasional streaming. A pass card is needed for the laundry and showers; did not check. No pool. The manger is efficient but needs to be more friendly and work on people skills. There were no park sponsored activities while we were here. The park is located at the edge of a small town so it's necessary to drive a few miles to shopping. A nice enough park but not much to do nearby. Chicago is a bit of a drive and traffic is always an issue. - Wiyndog
Jul 2015 - $16.00
The rate reflects a month's stay. This is a very strategic park. It is the closest "Traditional" RV Park to The City and NW Suburbs. DeKalb and I-88 is only 3 mi away, The Metra station is 14 mi East in Elburn, Ill. This is a very clean, neat, orderly, well maintained, and quiet park with spacious lawns, and lots of flowers and shrubbery. There are two small, spring fed lakes so clear you can see the fish. Fishing is catch and release. There is a sandy swimming beach with roped buoys. All sites are double rowed back-in but the parking is staggered so your rigs are not end to end. A single pedestal serves two units. Hook-ups are easy and close. Antenna TV will get you Rockford and Chicago. All roads and sites are gravel, but beautiful, thick grass lawns are everywhere. There are maintained grass walks around each lake. To their credit the owners, who are on the property, have resisted the urge to ring the lakes with premium sites. Bathrooms are clean. Laundry seems expensive, but they are big commercial washers and dryers, not home type, load them to specs and you'll save money. There are a lot of seasonal and permanents but that is no problem. The rules are rigorously enforced, but the results is a park you want to stay at and return. - Jack B
