This park is very good value for the money. It is located near some nice, small lakes and is very close to town. The facilities are well-maintained. We did not have cable, but received a number of air channels. The only problem was that the sites were a bit close together, but we did not have any noise problems from other campers. We would definitely return to this park. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed a week for $225. As always the place is kept up well. Although early in the season, it was pretty full. The sites are close together or I'd give this park an excellent rating. Fishing and tennis court are pluses. This is the best place for West Chicago area stay. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Disappointed to find out that there is a $2 charge for each visitor. While I can understand this policy during peak camping when the park is full, it seemed unreasonable in off season. Sites are quite small - barely enough room for your tow vehicle. I would hesitate to use the fire ring with so little space! All hookups worked fine. Lots of room to walk a dog. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a really nice park. The spaces are level, the view is beautiful. Our spot had a huge lawn next to it, after that were a sand volleyball court and a basketball court. The lake is beautiful and the guy in front of us caught several large bass (catch and release) each day. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The downtown area (State Street) is great! There is a road that tees off of it right in downtown that has the most beautiful neighborhood of restored Victorians and other homes. The restaurant Aqua Vivia (right on the square) is really good. We got a bottle of Illinois made red zinfandel that was excellent.

Stayed here for 10 days while visiting family in the area. Great park during the week with seasonal and workers who have temp jobs in the area but on weekends it fills up with the "weekend crowd" that can be noisy. Quiet time is 11 PM which is strange, every campground we've stayed at it's 10 PM. Also on weekends the crowd doesn't pick up after their dogs. Not the RV parks fault just inconsiderate campers. Sites are tight and you notice it more on the weekends when it gets filled up. Sites near the showers and laundry area due pitch for drainage, Sites 64, 65, 66, 67. The park has a nice lake you can walk around and fish it also has a small beach. Owner lives on site and isn't very friendly until he gets to know you. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Owner was very accommodating. We had to make reservation for a 6 week stay at the height of the season at the last minute do to a change in plans and he went out of his way to accommodate us. Lovely park in an area with very few options. Access road (city street) could use some attention due to potholes. Did not hold that against the park in rating. Sites are roomy, wider than many we have seen, and well laid out. No pull throughs. Very quiet, especially considering it is right in town. Seasonal and weekend campers. Yes, there is a long list of rules, but the park has a daily access swimming area - away from RV Park - and IMHO rules are the result of thoughtless people. At our first site there was room for our truck (Volvo tractor) but at the second we needed to move the truck to the long term storage area, not that far away. We had to change sites due to late reservations. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice park with nice views of lawns, trees, water, etc. Plenty of walking areas. Unfortunately the RV spots are all stone/crushed gravel - no grass by the sites, but level and clean. Helpful attendant helped us park. Sites themselves are close together, but certainly not on top of each other. Situated in Sycamore, IL - a nice town for walking or bike riding. We stayed here so that we could drive in and ride the Fox River Bike Trail - 20 minutes east of here. We would stay here again. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very well maintained park. Nicely defined grass/gravel areas.

No tents, screen rooms with bottoms, or rugs allowed on the grass. This keeps GRASS there, not weeds.

I do not agree with paying for visitors, but there is a $2/visitor fee.

Grass sites are limited, and as all sites are, tight. Parking your tow vehicle is in convenient.

One of the most well maintained parks I have been to.

A lot of comments on the owners. I have had no problems. Follow the easy and common sense rules, you shouldn't have any problems. Owners are particular and strict, but the outcome is a nicely maintained park.

Spacing good but DEPTH LACKING.

Owner guides you to site, no problems even with 42' 5er. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

If there was nothing else its location would make it worthwhile.

This park features two small lakes, about a mile and a half around the two. Small boats are OK, fishing is catch and release. There is a big sandy beach on one lake with a buoy roped swim area. Also paddle-boats.

The owners have resisted putting camp sites around the lakes, most would have, the walks around the lakes are clear and improved and very pretty, with picnic tables, and flowers.

All the RV areas are level gravel with easy hookup to very convenient pedestals. All sites are back-in, end-to-end, but because the sites alternate, like a checker board, everyone has there own area. Each site has some shade, a picnic table, and fire ring.

The lack of grass at the individual sites is more than covered by the acres of beautiful green lawns. Always mowed and ready for a barefoot walk, because everyone picks up after their dog. The park is too beautiful not to!

The flowers and shrubbery are very professional. All of this is kept clean, neat, and groomed every day.

There is no cable because Rockford and Chicago are very near. The Wi-Fi is by TengoInternet and free. Wi-Fi can slow down if the park is busy.

The bathrooms and showers are all-in-one style and very clean and comfortable.

The laundry seems pricey but note that the machines are front-loading commercial washers and dryers; fill them to the limits indicated. They do a good job.

The owners have their home here at the park. It is a lovely home and all the park and campers spread out before them. We are camping on their front yard.

The owners are very proud of the park and work hard every day to keep their home clean and neat. To this end, there are rules. These rules ensure a clean, safe, and secure campground. All rules are printed on the welcoming brochure and there are none that I have not seen at other parks.

This is like an oasis, with all the large, old trees surrounding the property you wouldn't know a city was nearby. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Sycamore is the very picturesque County Seat with a grand old courthouse.

There is a large "Historic District" and an active downtown shopping district. Take a walk down Somonauk St. and see some of the restored, jaw dropping Victorian homes.

Right next door is DeKalb. Three times the size and the home of Northern Illinois University. A much different flavor!

Be sure to check NIU.edu for activities e.g. free concerts on campus.

Worst campground we have ever stayed in. The owner is like Hitler and runs the place like a military camp. If you want to relax and enjoy your camp weekend, this is NOT the place to go. If you like tight spots, listening to your next door neighbor's conversation while in your own area, and a lot of rules to follow, then this is the place for you! (Oh, that's if you even get a sheet telling you what the rules are!). Close gravel sites.

BTW - Rules are fine when they are met with a friendly attitude. However, this owner has nothing but a BAD attitude and has no business working with the public. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Very clean and small campground very close to the downtown area of Sycamore Illinois. Sycamore is a lovely town. The campsite we had was out in the open, pull-through, no shade, and on a gravel site, no grass (some of the other campsites had grass). The grounds of the campground were very well maintained. Fishing in the fishing ponds was very nice, with mowed grass surrounding the ponds. Plenty of trees surrounding the fishing ponds. There is a small store with the essentials and the owners are very nice. The beach looked very nice; except it was not open Memorial Day weekend (we did not know it would be closed, so this was a disappointment). There is NO playground. My grandkids played in the volleyball sand area. The trail around the lake is very nice and scenic. We camped at Sycamore RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
