This was a very nice, family oriented campground. Lots of grass for those who were in tents. The utilities worked well and the site was level. Our site was way in the back and was extremely quiet. We would stay here again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground is close to I-39 and I-80 with many pull through gravel sites. There were a lot of kids when we stayed overnight but campground was quiet at night. Sites are close together with mowed grass in between and room for a picnic table. Little to no shade for most of the pull throughs. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy on/off Interstate. Be prepared to share shallow swimming pool with lots of fun-loving kids.

Price is little high, but with Passport America very good. Excellent for a couple days stay passing through. Very clean and neat. Level, Long Pull-throughs. Right off Interstate which is nice, but adds noise if you have windows open. WiFi is best we have seen in awhile. worked in the rain and late afternoon. Sites are pretty close together and hook-ups for RV next to you are pretty close to your awing or door, but no smell or anything. Pool clean and nice. People very nice. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Starving Rock State Park was really nice.

We stopped for a one night stay and it was perfect for us. I called prior to arriving and the person I dealt with was professional and answered all my questions. It was easy access from I-80. Checking in for not only easy but pleasant because of the employees. I didn't want to unhook the toad, wanted 50 amp full h/u and a site that I could get satellite. I got it all at a great price. I could not get over the air TV, so no local weather but overall this park is a keeper. You won't be disappointed. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Love's station near the campground

We stayed here one night for an overnight, as we preferred a full hookup (they also have water/electric only sites). Our site was very close to I-80 so there was noise from the interstate but it really didn't bother us. Sites were level, and some were more spacious than others. This is a nice size campground (around 80 sites). They have areas that are more family friendly near a playground. Other sections were close to the front and office and better suited for adults (just my opinion). There is a pool. Shower house was nice and clean with good pressure and hot water. Tent camping available but was in a heavily wooded area (buggy and damp!). Cabins available. Dog-friendly. Small store. Their rules and regulations are very extensive! Nothing outside of the norm (quiet times, pick up after your dog, visitor rules and charges, etc). Maybe they had problems in the past and felt it necessary to make such a detailed list? Free Wi-Fi worked fine. Our site was a pull-through and was large enough so we didn't have to unhook our tow dolly and car. However it was relatively narrow so there was mostly grass at the door to our RV. We would normally put out a rug to keep grass and dirt inside to a minimum. But one of the rules were "No rugs on grass." (?) Some sites had concrete pads. Ours was gravel. Very clean and well kept park. We would like to visit Starved Rock in the future and even with some quirks we will still consider this campground again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in 43 ft RV, towing. Nice pull-through spots for short term stays located in one area. Can use Passport America. Some great longer stay spots in back. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a clean well-maintained park. We always stay here on our trips up north and returning. Never really had a bad experience. You get a little bit of highway noise but It was a constant sound and didn't really bother us. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

The bathrooms and laundry are very, very clean and the service was friendly. However, the sites need to be mowed and most need more gravel. Additionally, the 'yard' area is not level. Because of the location, OTA reception is very poor; the campground needs to invest in cable.

This park is good for an overnight stop, but I wouldn't suggest it for longer stays. The road noise is not too bad; however, it is very evident. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Loves truck stop is very convenient for fueling before starting a day's travel.

Campground is easy on and off from I80. Internal roads are paved or gravel while sites are concrete or gravel. We drive a 44 ft MH and tow a car and were able to navigate the campground and site without difficulty. Sites have small grassy space between with picnic table and fire ring and are mostly level. Some sites have a slope from front to back. We stayed in site 5 which offers fewer trees and good satellite reception while some sites are shaded with mature trees. We did not use the facilities or Wifi as the Verizon signal was good for using as a hotspot. There is no designated dog area but there is a lovely path through the woods and tent area that made for a nice walk with the dog. Road noise is minimal and campground staff were friendly and helpful. We found the campground a peaceful rest stop while making our trek eastward after the winter. We would stay here again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a JC Whitney outlet store just across I80. They have a modest RV supply section but staff are willing to order items if needed. We needed to replace our water pressure regulator and they had several in stock.

There is a Love's diesel stop at the same exit, just across from the entrance road to the campground.

Rate reflects Passport America discount. Easy access, long pull-throughs, large site even for the larger rigs. Well maintained gravel roads. Excellent utilities and and Wi-Fi. Verizon also excellent. Bathrooms and public areas spotless. Highway noise is minimal. Lots of grass to walk pets. Very friendly owners. We will stay here again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park, clean and well maintained. Despite having quite a few trees, it is open and big rig friendly. There are several different sections of the park and lots of areas to walk around. Small cabins for rent as well. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby state park, river.

This is a very nice park with a couple of minor quirks. Sites are nicely spaced, easy in/out with both concrete and gravel level pull-throughs and back-ins. Many sites are satellite friendly. Two quirks. Their rules hit me as a little on the overbearing side, especially concerning visitors and late check out. And they almost make you take an oath not to use your own Wi-Fi in the park as they believe it interferes with the park Wi-Fi (very unlikely). Well, the park Wi-Fi was very weak so you don't really have a choice. Both Verizon and AT&T had good signals. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy off of I-80 at exit 81. Near Starved Rock State park and the town of Peru where there are many stores for shopping. Very nice campground and very nice people in the office. We will stay here again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.
