One night stop turns out to be a good pick. Clean grounds, even got a full length concrete (back in) pad to park. Good power and water. Some long term rentals but all very neat and clean. A couple of small cabins are also available. If you're going on 39 and need to stop this place will be fine. Nice folks at the desk also. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Long level gravel site surrounded by grass. Our site was in the open sun, some others appear to have shade. Good utilities, excellent Wi-Fi, and a few over the air TV stations. Decent laundry room. Friendly staff in office gave us great advice on finding walk-in medical care. Small creek for the dog to wade in on her walk. Close to interstate but no noticeable noise. Great place for one or two nights and a great value at the Passport America rate. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty easy access off of I-80. Just north of the freeway, but traffic noise is not an issue. Train tracks also nearby, but haven't heard one yet and the Lady at the office says you rarely hear them. There are a lot of TENT sites here with water and elec. We had to take a back-in with them as the camp was all but booked when we got here Sat. about noon. They all have fire rings, so for some, the smoke could be an issue, but it really was not a problem for us. Park is well done with the shade trees, and we were able to still pull a good satellite signal. Some over-the-air channels as well. No cable, but they do have OK Wi-fi. Our site was level, both side to side, and front to back. Roomy enough, with gravel, and nice grass. Paved road through-out. They have a pool, and store by the Office, although we did not use either. Good overnite stop on our way thru the state. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wow.. a nice find on our journey from TN to WI. Quiet, nice pull thru, electric never flickered, we watched a movie on the internet, peaceful and beautiful. The owners were awesome, so friendly and accommodating. We may see you on our way back home... Don't miss this stop! Highly recommended! We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

I called for same day reservations. Stayed two nights at the Passport America rate. Office staff were wonderfully professional. Asked for shady site and got a nice, long, level gravel pull thru under mature trees. 50 amp full hookup utilities on our site were all conveniently placed. Some sites have concrete pads. The few longterm residents kept their sites tidy. Overall the park is neat and clean - grass is trimmed, tree branches are trimmed high for big rigs, sites look clean, no trash outside of dumpsters. Internal roads are gravel and big rig friendly. Wifi was good enough for email and news. Water pressure was a little weak tho. Nice pool and playground. No off leash dog park but plenty of space to walk the dogs. Right by the interstate but we didn't hear it inside the motorhome and had a couple of good nights sleep. Good bargain especially if you have PA. So glad we found it since we'll be traveling this route a couple times a year. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a very accommodating park. We were a little nervous initially pulling in due to the proximity to the interstate, but we never heard any highway noise. This resulted in a great positive: easy interstate access; without the common negative associated. The grounds are well kept and easy to navigate. The ladies working the office were quite friendly, and were very helpful when the two families that were supposed to join us had to cancel their stay.

I really don't have anything negative to say about this RV park. The price was very reasonable for a full hook-up site. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Utica, IL, has some nice looking shops and a museum. Starved Rock State Park is a couple of miles down the road, as well as Buffalo Rock State Park. A little bit further down the road is an indoor amusement park, but we didn't catch the name of it.

Very nice park, clean and well run, roomy sites. Was assigned a pull-through; all good hookups. Staff very friendly. Close to highway but noise was not bad. There is a sand pit or quarry next door so not sure how noisy that would be as we got here late in the day. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A good bargain with Passport America. They ask that you pay in cash when using this discount. Well laid out park, clean with beautiful wooded areas. Our site was close to the office next to the pool but was quiet. Site was long enough for rig and tow. Utility infrastructure was well maintained. Didn't hear the freeway noise. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is a green oasis just off the highway, with a playground for the kids and a swimming pool. Beautifully maintained and the trees and shrubbery effectively mask any traffic noise. Check in was a breeze. Sites were level and Wi-Fi was adequate. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Your option is the use the PA rate for one night or a Good Sam or other discount for all the nights. Works out about the same if you're staying 3-4 nights. We had one of the pull-throughs in the back area. The site was fine and satellite reception was easy; the biggest nuisance is that you have to turn yourself around to get out and the space they provide isn't big enough for a 40 foot MH to do a loop. Since there were lots of empty sites we pulled into one and then backed out but this could be an issue if the place was full. Other than that, the sites are gravel, the roads are asphalt and the utilities were fine and were in convenient locations. Easy access off of I-80 at exit 81. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Big level spaces, some with concrete pads and some gravel. Lots of well maintained grass and mature trees. The hookups were all located in the right place, too! It's close to the I-80, so there is some traffic noise, but not too much. Check in was easy and efficient...nice woman at the desk. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

We stopped here on an overnight trip and took advantage of the Passport America discount available for $20 a night. The free wifi was pretty good. Cell service was good and it was a quick on and off the freeway. They have a lot of rules though, and aren't shy about enforcing them. No outside fire wood ($4.50 for one of their bundles). No semi trucks, no discount without seeing an actual Passport America card, no outside rugs, etc. I don't mind the rules but the tone surrounding the notices was pretty rude. We were obviously tired when we pulled in and little courtesy would have gone a long way. Ok for an overnight and nice long pull throughs, although they are tight side to side. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean campground, sites are either gravel or concrete and big rig friendly. Easy on and off from I-80. We stayed 4 nights, used both Passport America and Good Sam discounts. We have stayed at Hickory Hollow before but upfront, however this time due to a rally, we were given a site all the way in the back. The back area is green and pretty with a great walking trail. The site was gravel, level, spacious and quiet but we were there during off season and a bad weather weekend, therefore limited RVs and tent campers. There are no trees over the way back sites, therefore open to the sun. We had great satellite and wifi connection at this location. We didn't have any issues leaving the site or park with our 40ft MH and tow. Staff was friendly. There is a pool, game room and small store. The laundry room is small yet clean and adequate. Plenty of grassy areas to walk dogs. We will stay here again while in the area. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I noted the divergence in ratings, but in reading between the lines of the highly positive vs very negative reviewers, it seemed like maybe the differences may be in the expectations of the reviewers - so we went ahead and booked 4 days here,

Here is what we found:

1-The park is exceptionally clean, and well-maintained.

2-Guest are mostly RVs, big rigs including buses and 5th wheels.

3-Lots of pull-throughs, long sites with full hookups.

4-Very few small sites and/or small trailers or tent-campers.

5-Dogs are allowed.

6-A lot of transients, staying 1 night, and gone the next morning - I presume this is because they are right off of I-80.

7-They have camp rules, which seem reasonable such as Quiet hours;-and they seem strict on enforcement, and it's a point of view if they are a bit stiff on the admonishment for rule-breakers. So if you value a quiet, clean, kept-up park I would consider this park, but if you have a bunch of kids that like to run around, or want a place to party (i.e. get rowdy) steer clear as they will be tough with you.

8-Now the park is right off of I-80 and that means highway noise in the background. That did not bother us as it becomes "white noise" and mostly goes away with closed RV windows. But I can understand tent campers' issues about highway noise all night.

9-There are corn fields on one side, and a large long berm across the other side - with some large industrial complex buildings in the distance. There are some woods onsite and a creek runs through it. But the view vistas for most of the sites are not impressive.

10-They have free Wi-Fi, but it's very slow, so you better stick with text only connections and even those will be slow.

11-If you feel the ground shake sometimes, that not an earthquake, but blasting in the quarry next to the campground (hidden by the high berm along the edge) We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a PA park just off Interstate 80. It is located just far enough off the interstate in the woods so that highway noise is not a problem. Great for a one night stay, although they do have a pool open during the season and a playground of you want to extend your stay. The pull-thru sites are spaceous gravel with a grassy area for a picnic table and a fire pit. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.
