We were traveling North looking for one night stay. PPA had this park for $20. Gravel roads, no pot holes, gravel pads except for pull thrus. There are gravel pull thrus also. Very level sites, Very clean, 20 and 50 amp with water and sewer. Two sewer connections, front and rear. TV reception is poor. 11 channels and 10 are religious. No cable hook up. Free wifi that works very well. Close to town. We travel in a 5th wheel. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hickory Hollow is a nice park with level sites and no problem with low tree limbs. Our site had a nice flat level concrete pad although some site are gravel and some with concrete pads. The staff were wonderful, friendly and funny. The electricity is fine putting out 120 amps on each leg. The negative, they do not have cable and the digital arial antenna only picked up 5 religious stations. So, it was a DVD night. I would have rated it higher if they had cable as a park should if they don't receive good arial coverage. Otherwise, a good stop. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Lots to like here!

Deserves a 4 star rating.

Level gravel site.

Lots of trees.

Negatives: Bit of a grumpy hostess when we asked for a site near the laundry. Do not know why this was an issue to her, the campground was only 25% filled.

The laundry was good enough except the dryers were short cycles and required double the coins to get dry.

Stay here again, Sure! We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Paved entry with gravel roads and sites. They are beginning to lay concrete pads at a few sites and we had one. Lots of trees in some areas, but G-loop is open for satellite access. Good water pressure and useable wifi. Convenient for I-80 traffic, but surprisingly quiet. A good over-nighter. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Some of the interior roads are paved, some are white gravel. Interior roads are narrow in parts, but doable. Some of the sites are paved, some are white grave and grass. We stayed one night. It was a nice park. I would stay 2 or 3 days to see the area. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Make time to see Starved Rock State Park. Eat at Ron's Cajun Connection. The frog legs (yes frog legs) were delicious. We had many different things and they were all very good.

A nice park with good utilities but no cable. There were a few channels on the batwing however. WiFi was very spotty and slow when it did work. Nice large pull through sites with mostly gravel pads and a few concrete ones and well graveled roads that are holding up well despite recent heavy rains. Nice restroom/shower facilities and friendly owners. Highway noise was minimal due to nice large sound buffering trees but there is an agricultural plant of some kind near by that had a constant hum all night. Mosquitoes however were terrible. It was quite full so I would recommend reservations. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

One night stop turns out to be a good pick. Clean grounds, even got a full length concrete (back in) pad to park. Good power and water. Some long term rentals but all very neat and clean. A couple of small cabins are also available. If you're going on 39 and need to stop this place will be fine. Nice folks at the desk also. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Long level gravel site surrounded by grass. Our site was in the open sun, some others appear to have shade. Good utilities, excellent Wi-Fi, and a few over the air TV stations. Decent laundry room. Friendly staff in office gave us great advice on finding walk-in medical care. Small creek for the dog to wade in on her walk. Close to interstate but no noticeable noise. Great place for one or two nights and a great value at the Passport America rate. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty easy access off of I-80. Just north of the freeway, but traffic noise is not an issue. Train tracks also nearby, but haven't heard one yet and the Lady at the office says you rarely hear them. There are a lot of TENT sites here with water and elec. We had to take a back-in with them as the camp was all but booked when we got here Sat. about noon. They all have fire rings, so for some, the smoke could be an issue, but it really was not a problem for us. Park is well done with the shade trees, and we were able to still pull a good satellite signal. Some over-the-air channels as well. No cable, but they do have OK Wi-fi. Our site was level, both side to side, and front to back. Roomy enough, with gravel, and nice grass. Paved road through-out. They have a pool, and store by the Office, although we did not use either. Good overnite stop on our way thru the state. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wow.. a nice find on our journey from TN to WI. Quiet, nice pull thru, electric never flickered, we watched a movie on the internet, peaceful and beautiful. The owners were awesome, so friendly and accommodating. We may see you on our way back home... Don't miss this stop! Highly recommended! We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

I called for same day reservations. Stayed two nights at the Passport America rate. Office staff were wonderfully professional. Asked for shady site and got a nice, long, level gravel pull thru under mature trees. 50 amp full hookup utilities on our site were all conveniently placed. Some sites have concrete pads. The few longterm residents kept their sites tidy. Overall the park is neat and clean - grass is trimmed, tree branches are trimmed high for big rigs, sites look clean, no trash outside of dumpsters. Internal roads are gravel and big rig friendly. Wifi was good enough for email and news. Water pressure was a little weak tho. Nice pool and playground. No off leash dog park but plenty of space to walk the dogs. Right by the interstate but we didn't hear it inside the motorhome and had a couple of good nights sleep. Good bargain especially if you have PA. So glad we found it since we'll be traveling this route a couple times a year. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a very nice level concrete pad pull-through right near the entrance, office, bathrooms, and pool. It is my impression that this is where they put most transient campers who just need a night. The entire park is well groomed and everything is spotlessly clean in a nice setting that offers both sunny and shady sites. There is no cable and the OTA stations consisted of 3 Christian preachers, 2 Hispanic stations, and one old old movie station. The WiFi was unusable with the park full, which is my main complaint. I tried making online reservation 4 different times using two different devices...to no avail until early in the morning before most others were awake.

The staff was friendly and efficient, and the park would be a favorite if it had better WiFi & a few cable stations. Still a good spot to spend the night. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a very accommodating park. We were a little nervous initially pulling in due to the proximity to the interstate, but we never heard any highway noise. This resulted in a great positive: easy interstate access; without the common negative associated. The grounds are well kept and easy to navigate. The ladies working the office were quite friendly, and were very helpful when the two families that were supposed to join us had to cancel their stay.

I really don't have anything negative to say about this RV park. The price was very reasonable for a full hook-up site. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Utica, IL, has some nice looking shops and a museum. Starved Rock State Park is a couple of miles down the road, as well as Buffalo Rock State Park. A little bit further down the road is an indoor amusement park, but we didn't catch the name of it.

Very nice park, clean and well run, roomy sites. Was assigned a pull-through; all good hookups. Staff very friendly. Close to highway but noise was not bad. There is a sand pit or quarry next door so not sure how noisy that would be as we got here late in the day. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
