Very nice park close to I-57, but quiet. Lots of trees, but roads and sites wide enough that no problem for a big rig. We had site 2 where we could get satellite for DTV. WIFI is good. Staff gave us fresh eggs from park chickens that roam around...very cute. We were also given tomatoes from the the garden...wonderful.
The park is well maintained and we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.
Easy access off I-57. Escort to your site and assistance with parking. Gravel sites, very level and well drained. Showers and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The pool area was clean and the water was clear and refreshing. Only stayed for an overnight, but would return to explore the area. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.
Tips for other Campers:
GPS has you turn into the campground too soon. Continue south on SR37 until you come to the campground entrance sign on a gravel entrance way.
This is a lovely park. Good gravel roads and level sites. Reservations were a breeze, and by the time we arrived the next day, they had everything filled out, including our Good Sam discount. They took it upon themselves to look us up in Good Sam! The staff even asked where we were heading and provided alternate directions through St. Louis to bypass traffic. Sites are comfy and there are a lot of trees in the park. Sites are level. If ever in this area again we would stay here for sure! We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.

Great place to stay. Easy in and out and lots of room for parking. Lots of trees but that was not a problem for parking. Good elect and water. Nice bathrooms at the office, the other one was closed because of winter. Office staff very helpful. Will stay here again if in the area. Nothing bad to say about this place. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $33.00
This is a beautiful campground. Both the reservation and registration process were easy. We were led to our site. The roads and sites are hard packed gravel. There were lots of trees, but there was still plenty of room to maneuver. It is nicely landscaped, with lots of grass, and it is well maintained. WiFi worked fine. A previous reviewer said it was easy to reach from I-70, but I think they meant either I-64 which is 15 mi away or I-57 which is less than a mile away. I-70 is 85 mi away. The place actually sits on Highway 37, but there is no road noise. It is very quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend this park! We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $30.00
Was there in September and hardly anyone there. Beautiful mature tress everywhere. Close to Benton which is a town of about 8,000 (I think) which has a decent selection of restaurants for a small town. Really a well maintained park with the grounds maintained (southern IL open spaces can get overgrown in a hurry). Excellent Verizon 4G since tower right across the road. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Travel Trailer.
Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $33.00
Easy access, had one of the 5 front pull-throughs, long, a tad narrow. Water pressure reasonable (after I removed the CG gauge), nicely treed, easy satellite, roads great shape. Clearly come back if in the area. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.

One of the best campgrounds we have stayed in. The owners really try to make sure that you are happy and even provided us with some of their own produce. We had a pull-through and used the washrooms which were spacious and clean, plus the Wi-Fi was good. The only thing missing was cable otherwise it would have rated a 10. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.
Rate includes Good Sam discount. Superb Park. Can't fault in any way. Beautiful treed sites, level clean gravel., manicured grass. Very helpful hosts. Wi-Fi the best we have had anywhere. Fresh veg offered upon arrival from the extensive garden. If we didn't have to move on, would have stayed more than just 1 night. Totally professional. Will be back! We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
Whittington Woods was a beautifully maintained campground. The owner was very accommodating to our needs and especially kind to share her fresh garden veggies. We'd definitely stay here again. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.
Easy to reach from I-70. Campground entrance was clearly marked. The owner greeted us and had all of our paperwork ready, even the Good Sam number. She escorted us to our wide, pull-through site. Very scenic, level, and quiet. All hookups were very accessible and worked. This is a privately-owned park, and the owners obviously take great pride in it. Quite the refreshing change from the franchised parks that only care about money and packing in campers. Only thing that could improve the park would be cable, but we didn't miss the TV, enjoying, instead, the tranquil setting. We wanted to stay more days, but we had to keep driving home to Florida. Highly recommend this gem! We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.
This RV park is easy access from I-57. The owners take great pride in their park and work hard to keep it beautiful. Check out the garden! The pool is nice and the bathhouses are spotless. We didn't use the Wi-Fi. We experienced some problems with our RV and the owners went out of their way to help us. This was our third or forth time to stay in this park and will stay again during future travel. Plan to pay with cash or personal check. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
