Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here several days to tour several Museums. This park has seen better days but is easy to get to, good pull-through graveled and level sites. Person on duty was helpful and brought receipt to us within an hour. Not much for shade however and being August, the RV didn't cool down much. OK for few days or longer if don't need the shade, just behind the campground are 5 fabulous museums: National Military History, Auto Museum, the Early Ford V-8 Museum, and within them, the Horse drawn Apparatus Museum and a collection of many wild animal "Trophies" to tour and they are reasonably priced. Downtown Auburn has Auburn Cord Duesenburg Auto and the National Auto and Truck Museum. Recommend this town for a day stop if traveling through and this campground due to it's close proximity of them. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a no frills RV park but it is convenient to I-69 and good for an overnight stay. We've stayed here twice & both times, it was a "self serve" check-in. Pick a site, fill out the registration form & deposit it with cash or your credit card information in the box. There is no Wifi in the park. The washrooms & showers are clean. We did not use the laundry facilities. Will stay here again for convenience only. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is less and less each year that we stop.

This year some of the washrooms and showers were "out of order".

You have to check yourself in and leave the envelope......with your credit card number available.

Almost past the point of being convenient. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

"Fireside"? "Resort"? No, and definitely no. If you want to make your own fire, it's $2 for four pieces of wet wood. There are absolutely no amenities, and the campground consists of dirt sites with a little gravel left over from previous years. You will pay $34, with no discounts available, regardless of what type of site you pick. As it had rained, the whole place was muddy. I had to think twice about plugging in due to all the standing water in the low spot next to the pedestal. There is no cable, no Wi-Fi and no view. It's a field next to the freeway, in a town with no attraction. There is absolutely nobody on site to talk to about anything, much less complain. If I hadn't been dog-tired from an all day cross wind, I would have moved on. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The "resort" in the name is misleading. It looks like at one time someone had high ambitions, that for whatever reason, were never realized. There is a large log "lodge" that houses the "office" and shower/laundry facilities. The office is now abandoned and locked. It is self check-in. There may be a manager or owner who lives upstairs in the lodge, but never saw anyone. There are a bunch of signs explaining the self check in procedure but be sure to look at your selected site before checking in as a couple were totally flooded due to a broken underground water pipe that looks like it has been leaking for weeks, there was algae growing in the water and it had flooded a very large area across the road and into a field. The dump site was noted as unavailable. A sign noted that the WiFi was not working. The pool was covered as is appropriate for April but considering the lack of maintenance of the rest of the park I doubt that it is ever open. Right off the major highway with nothing to buffer the road noise. Overall a very sad state of affairs and at $34/night (another sign noted "no longer accepting any discounts") not a very good value. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is without a doubt, the strangest campground we've ever been to. When we pulled into the park, there was no one around but they had left a sign on their door to complete the registration form, pick a site, leave cash (or credit card info) and deposit it in the box provided. We didn't see anyone for the entire time we were there. They also had a sign apologizing for their Wifi not working and their dump station was operable. Having said all that, the park was okay for an overnight stay. I used their laundry room which was clean & tidy. The park has potential but it appears there might be some money problems or something else going on. Road noise was not an issue for us. We felt safe and would stay here again when passing thru the area but would not stay long term here. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I don't agree with some of the prior reviews. It comes down to what are you looking for in a CG. We stayed 2 nights while visiting the Auburn museums and Fireside served us well. Easy access, large level gravel sites excellent utilities. If you are looking for an RV resort environment this is not for you. Train and highway noise can be heard when sitting outside. The pool is closed and appears it has been for some time. However, the place is very clean, has friendly management and is an excellent overnight stop or stay when visiting Auburn. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

We camped here for 1 night. The campground had very few other visitors, and it appeared that little maintenance had been done to the park. The swimming pool had a "closed for the season" sign (in July?), the water was dirty, tiles missing. The playground had railings falling off,and appeared unmaintained and unsafe. Several electrical posts at campsites had plastic trash barrels over them. We would not return to this park. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Travel Trailer.

Easy access off I-69 using exit 126 or 326 depending on which map you look at. Interior roads and site driveways are gravel. Small green space between sites. The office is not staffed regularly. It is a very informal run park. Traffic noise from I-69 and nearby trains. Free WiFi worked pretty well. Small trees offer little shade, so receiving Sat TV was no problem. Verizon cell had 4 bars. Entry driveway from county roads was undergoing construction. The park needs to put a sign by their drive. We missed the turn. The price is a little high for what you get. If you are looking for a no frills place to spend the night right on the interstate with a lot of heavy traffic noise then this is the place. A few seasonals & construction contractors utilized this location. To me it is just one step above a Wal-Mart parking lot. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Cleanest restrooms I've ever seen in a campground! Have stayed here before and there have been great improvements in the look of the area with young trees now coming up. Good pull-through sites available. Sites are quite spacious, although I would not want neighbors on our left to use the fire pit. It's too close. They say there is WiFi, but it was too weak to accommodate us although we were only a short ways from the office. There is also a pool but it is not yet open. Nice playground for kids. Date of Stay: March, 2013 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very close to I-69, but surprisingly quiet and peaceful. It looks like a new park that may need more gravel on the sites. They were quite muddy on our March stay. To adequately use the pull through spot, and get our vehicle out of road, we could not reach the sewer connection. The restrooms and showers were new, clean, and well-heated on our cold and snowy stay. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

There is a temporary problem with this park because the entrance road is torn up. You cannot access the park from I-69. That is not their fault. They did not tell us when we made the reservation. That is their fault. You have to make a detour through the countryside, that amounts to about 10 miles. Call for directions. But, the office hours are very limited. If you can get there, it is a decent park. There is no cable, but the sites are level and large enough. It appears this is a park that is being rehabbed by new owners. The park was nicely mowed, but there appears to be a lack of attention to detail. The Wi-Fi was not dependable, there was plastic kitchen trash in the fire ring and the office is only open one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. There are a lot of what look like long-term residents. Railroad and traffic noise is very noticeable. That said, when the road is finished and you want a convenient overnight for the auto events in Auburn, it is a good choice. It is not yet a destination park. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here to visit excellent museums in Auburn. Park office was not open when we arrived but we had made reservations and packet of info was in box near camp office door. Pull through campsites were very long but a little narrower than what we like. Gravel, level pad and grassy area where our dogs could romp. Met attendant after we set up and was very accommodating to meet our needs, including info on museums. We had excellent Verizon phone and Mi-Fi reception. Behind campground and within walking distance is the Victory WWII and Auto and Carriage museums which are some of the best I've ever been in. We stayed here for three nights and definitely stay here again. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.
