This KOA is not what I expect from a KOA. The lady at the desk was pleasant and escorted us to our site, and if not for that, the rating would have been much less than what I gave. There was a 10 yard dumpster overflowing with stinky garbage. This campground was not busy, and is obvious why. Never say never, but it's not likely we will stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very confusing place if you are staying only a few nights using KOA. The KOA campground sits in the middle of a Thousand Trails membership campground. The amenities have recently undergone an upgrade with a new pool area and clubhouse. Sections of the TT campground are developed with campers permanently on campsites. The campground is gated requiring a key card to get in after hours.

When we arrived we were met by TT folks who were helpful getting us checked in but wanted to sell TT. The KOA staff forgot to give us a card pass for entry into the park after hours so we were locked out one night until someone could open the gate for us. There is a lot of vehicle traffic with both cars and golf carts.

KOA should consider turning their part over to TT. I don't recommend staying here. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

The main staff is the only reason this review is as high as it is. The campsite itself was clean, our pull-through site was huge, and the staff was very kind and helpful. My low review, however, is specifically to the pool staff. We were swimming in the late afternoon, and there was a good sized staff of lifeguards of 4 or 5. They must've had friends swimming, because, despite all the guard towers, they all sat in pool chairs on the same side of the pool chatting with each other, their friends in the pool, and taking pictures with their phones. Yes, at least 2 of them had their phones out, taking selfies!

We only stayed there for the night, but the place had a good friendly vibe to it. I'm not sure if we'd stay there again, but I would warn, not necessarily discourage, people from staying there. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

This was our 2nd time staying at the KOA inside the Thousand Trails park. We were in the one and only 50 amp full hookup pull-thru site there. No one else was there during our overnight. Lots of low branches as we were escorted to our site. Our escort also appeared to be unfamiliar with the roads since she led us in the wrong way. There were also deep ruts on the gravel and grass and the recent rains made everything wet and muddy. Site was fairly level. The park overall had an unkempt feel. There's a dog walking area but no off leash park. WiFi was nonexistent. We'll probably return since it's so convenient to the interstate but for overnight or short stays only. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

I had hopes that this campground would improve. It appeared that Encore/Thousand Trails was willing to invest money in the campgrounds but all of the improvements have been aimed at the seasonal residents. They installed a new playground and sport court and rehabbed the pool two years ago. They also paved and re-graveled the sites in phase 4 but this area is now slowly being converted to seasonal. Last year they began reconstructing an old closed seasonal sectional. The only thing that has been done for non seasonal campers was prompted several years ago by the presence of a large number of long term construction workers. They added sewers to some of the sites in phase two. The construction workers had gravel installed at these sites so they were usable during wet weather. The sites aren't that usable since the utilities are not located in proximity to each other. We were at a site that has a narrow gravel pad. The sewer and water were on one side of the site about 30' apart and the electrical was on the other side of the pad about 10' from the pad. A very poor design. The electrical has been upgraded in the area were sewers were installed. However, the remainder of phase two has old electrical and almost no pads. Many of the boxes look very poor and I would be afraid to use some of them. Overall, this park caters to long term clientele and is adequate for an overnight stay. However, if it is prime season and you have children, there is a lot for them to do with pool, playground and lakes.

We use it because we have a TT membership and have family in the area. I'd rate it as in the midrange of TT parks and below the middle of established commercial campgrounds.

There is good Verizon and most sites have satellite access. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

This campground has a big area of permanent/leased sites, a KOA only campground, and a couple of sections that are shared by seasonal campers and transient users. I think the preferred Thousand Trails area is Phase 4 with paved roads, level gravel sites, and 50 amp/full hookup sites. Several of them are pull through. The roads in Phase 2 aren't as good and not all sites have sewer hookups. The sewer hookups Phase 2 does have are interesting. There are "mini septic tanks" between every other site. Apparently, they work fine and allow RVs to be connected and used in a normal way. The property features a large pool, playground, mini-golf, and other recreational facilities. We had good Verizon 4G and no problems getting satellite TV. We've visited several Thousand Trails preserves through the past few years and we'd rank this one as one of the nicer ones. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Here during Labor Day weekend. Power in Phase 2 section was horrible. Averaged around 103 volts. My surge protector tripped 4-5 times over three days. After afternoon storm, water puddled everywhere including around power boxes. Left early because we were concerned about damage to rig equipment.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed breakfast at KOA cafe. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

Check in and signage is a bit confusing for TT versus KOA, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Campground is well maintained (mowed and cleaned) and has great amenities, but roads are very uneven with many holes and poor gravel distribution. Sites are also uneven in Phase 2 area, and sites must share the electric box with only 1 50 amp plug in each. There were also many golf carts being driven around, making the roads always busy. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

The park itself is gorgeous, the updates make this place appealing. But with 10 stays under our belt here, one big problem remains for us: unmotivated, uncaring KOA staff that misrepresent the activities on the calendar online.

Time and time again, we arrive excited for the activities which promise fun for our children to find the same unmotivated, bored dude wishing he was anywhere but there running an activity that has very few similarities than promised. I feel so frustrated in the moment!!

Just 3 examples:

A chocolate social was promised during prime season and the dude had enough of the taste testing chocolate for 1/10 of the people that showed up.

Another weekend promised a flashlight candy hunt. Our boy's were over the moon w excitement. We arrived 10 minutes before the scheduled activities to find they started the hunt 30 minutes early and there was nothing left. People arriving were furious. The dude said no less than 10 times that he spent 70 bucks in candy and there should have been plenty. They got zero.

This past weekend was an old fashioned carnival. I called the Monday before to ask if the booths costs and was told they were free. We happen to notice that it started an hour early. The booths did cost and were .25 each. Not a huge deal but very typical to differ from what was listed. The worst part is that the children only got a prize if they won the game and the skill level was super hard. The prizes were valued at less than .25 but they were nearly impossible to win. My 2 year old won nothing except for the last game where an older lady helped him. It was ridiculous.

The game room is atrocious w 2 pay tables and a closet a hot mess w not a single complete game. The one and only free table doesn't have any balls that aren't crushed in the closet. Such a waste.

This visit the pool was closed. There is never an urgency to get it open. The handicap shower in the shower house didn't work but had no sign so I was naked before realizing it. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are going FOR the kids activities, please take all the promises w a grain of salt. Plan your own like we do now (scavenger hunts, water balloon fights, nerf gun fights) and just take any activities actually given as a bonus.

Everything costs so if it says free, take your money anyway.

A little surprised at many of the reviews. We arrived yesterday on a Tuesday before the Fourth. Park was/is very crowded. The "Prime" sites are occupied mainly by annuals. KOA has the rest of the Prime sites. However, we found at least three sits in Phase 2 that have 50 amp and sewer. We took one. The sewer is strange. "Mini" septic tanks? The tanks serve two sites and a Honey Pump guy patrols to see if any are full. There is a "bobber" that raises when the tank is full. Unusual but effective. You can also call the ranger station if one is full. Funny to see the staff actually change shirts as they transition from the TTN Ranger shirts to the yellow KOA shirts. Weird situation but, we will stay again as this is the only park in my home town. Hope to return in a couple of years. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

If you can't find a sewer site, the honey pumper is only $15. Cheapest I've seen at TTN. At Idyllwild it is $25 and $35 for same day service.

Stayed as a member. Some sections much nicer than others. Others need a lot of work. Many electrical boxes out of order or showing low voltage. Roads throughout sites are very rutted as is the campsites. Gravel was put down years ago but needs to be done again. Nice and well stocked camp store. This park has some sites that are for KOA only. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

We were told that there was WIFI there but only at the office and the other spot was locked. The office offered to go and unlock it but we used our own hotspot. The clerks in office lacked friendliness and were busy taking to friends. We had to go to one certain area because we were PPA. KOA had moved in to the the nicer areas and we were told they were trying out KOA? Would not go back it was not a good spot for the price. You have to pay a maintenance fee along with your regular PPA cost? We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stayed at the KOA inside the Indian Lakes Thousand Trails resort. The entire park was nearly empty. Roads are paved and sites are gravel and level. There were some trees with low branches. Hookups are near the back. We were escorted to our site which appeared to be the only pull-through in a section that had all back-ins. Our site, #65, had a buzzing transformer box, a meter box and a panel board with 4 circuit breaker boxes situated right where the door of our motorhome opened. It's a horrible site. Wi-Fi was weak, we got no cable as advertised on the KOA site, no off-leash dog park. The BBQ grill for this site is also located on the back driver's side of the motorhome. It's a quiet area and easy to find. We would probably return for a night or two but would opt out of #65. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

This is a nice campground. We stayed in Phase 4 of the campground and had full hook ups. The batrooms could have been cleaner. The pass card they gave us didn't work and neither did the second one. The sewer inlet was about a foot above the ground, making it almost unusable. These negatives prompted a rating of 7. I would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

Campground is very run down and not maintained. It is a Thousand Trails campground and also is a KOA. We used Passport America for half price or I would have been very upset. Grass was a foot long and the gravel site pads are mostly mud and that are not level, the hookups are on the wrong side in some sites. Sites were laid out wierd and there were a number of older units in there as full timers and they were run down too. I would not return there even for half price again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.
