We stayed on the Thousand Trails side. We had made our reservations about 3 weeks in advance, reserving a full hook-up, 50 amp service pull-thru. When we checked in, we were given a map, and told find a site that we liked. The employee told us that here are the 3 phases, and she circled them on the map. Phase 2 and 4 had pull-thrus, but she didn't know what sites were available, what sites had full hook-ups, what sites had 50 amp, and what sites were just water and electric. She did know that phase three was just water and electric. We drive around, ran into some low hanging branches in phase 3, where another employee directed us to phase 5, which also was a mix of full hook-ups, some with 30 amp, some with 50 amp, and some with just water and electric. After a third employee stopped us and helped us, we were able to find a site. We ended up in phase 2, where our site was mostly grass, and not level. We were able to level the coach by placing pads under the rear wheels. The water and sewer were in the driver side and the electric was on the passenger side, so we had to run the electric under the coach. Then it rained for a couple of days and the fire pit and sewer connection were under water. Our thoughts are, if you are going to take reservations and charge $52 per night, you should at least be able to tell people what site that they reserved, instead of telling them you need to go find your site. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the Thousand Trails part of this campground. Grounds seemed nicely maintained as well as the campground buildings. We did not use the pool. The pull throughs in Phase 2 - area P (where we stayed) are in need of maintenance. Our site was mostly grass growing with some gravel and dirt areas. Water lines look to have a temporary fix using washing machine hoses. Good water pressure (60 lbs). Our site was fairly level. Grass had been mowed recently. Sign at entrance telling TT members to go to the main gate to check in. There are two check in areas. Both located in the Campground store. One for TT and one for KOA.

At the main gate there is an intercom you need to use if no one is there. A little difficult to understand. Had to use the intercom and was told to go back to the store/gas station to register. Registration personal were helpful and friendly. We were able to get 50 amp service with FHUs. A nice plus for me is the campground allows washing your RV and vehicle. But you must purchase a $5 'washing permit'. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

We have stayed in many RV parks, but this is, by far, in the top 5 worst. Yes, it's huge, but only 2 sections really count for Thousand Trails and "phase 2" which is where you're sent, is VERY unlevel gravel sites; the hookups are very confusing, (not sure which hook up goes to which site and many have to be shared part sewer part not (and the maps numbers don't jive with the posts so you don't know) and today they turned our water off for part of the day, with no notice, because they were doing some work elsewhere. The pool was not swimmable (unless you like to swim in 60 degree water) and much of the rest of the park is like broken down single wide mobile homes. There is another couple areas - one huge area for KOA (only one RV in there) and "phase 4" which looked ok, but we're full of what looked like permanent sites. Couldn't believe this is a Thousand Trails park. You had to check in at the store and they give you a paper scan card for the gate...that is car level. You best hope you don't come in your class "a" by yourself because you won't reach. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

Not My Cup Of Tea. This gets a low rating from me because it did not suit my camping needs. I appreciate quiet and peace when camping and this campground did not offer that. This campground offers seasonal and extended stays. I would say that 75% of the campers were in this category. This made it more like a trailer park then a campground. Most of these sites had semi-permanent structures. AND the golf carts.

"Campers" were continuously cruising with music blaring. It seemed that when you were out at your site you were continuously being looked at by the parade of vehicles. They did seem to stick to the 11 pm limit however. There was also quiet, with the ability to hear some nature, in the early morning.

I did not see any access to hiking or nature trails. You must leave the campground for that. If you are looking for a more social experience with the ability to develop more long term relationships with your neighbors and want to drink and socialize, I think this campground with its access to a small lake would interest you.

The site was okay. Not many issues with leveling on my particular site. The picnic table had seen better days and was missing a bench. The paved roads in my section were in horrible shape. More potholes than actual pavement. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Metamora is good for a day trip and isn't too far. It is a small town with local shops and much historic value. It was established in the early-19th century and they seem to be trying very hard to provide historic value, interesting shops and antique stores, food choices, and events/music. Oldenburg is very convenient and has historic value as well.

There is trout fishing in nearby Brookville.

The shower needs work. Water pools on the floor where everyone had to walk thru. Its a slip hazard. Very small shower area. Barely enough room to turn around. Hardly any shade in areas where general population camps. More shade In the seasonal area. Majority of camp is seasonal. They do have a pool. Any activities are not well advertised. The info posted outside the bath door was a month old. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Some of the bad reviews didn't apply to us. Initially we understood that the hook-ups were w/e only. We were given our choice of sites and had full hook-ups. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The site was somewhat un-level but not impossible. Our area was very quiet at night. We asked for and got an area with no trees for easy satellite set-up. ATT was good. Wifi was available only at two spots and one of them wasn't working. There was a lot of cruising around in golf carts and therefore raising dust but all in all this was a very satisfactory campground. We would stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

This can be a nice park if you have reservations and can find a site. They are considering adding more full hookups which are needed as we had a choice of 2 spots. The pool and mini golf were good and the park is large and flat which was good for long bike rides.
There are few guide signs and those that exist require interpretation. Previously I took a wrong turn and found myself locked in behind the office. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

North of here is an old historic town of Metamora which has an operating canal boat ride and a train ride, both of which were inexpensive and worthwhile. The town of Batesville is just west of the park and has good shopping available (e.g Kroger & Walmart).

This KOA is not what I expect from a KOA. The lady at the desk was pleasant and escorted us to our site, and if not for that, the rating would have been much less than what I gave. There was a 10 yard dumpster overflowing with stinky garbage. This campground was not busy, and is obvious why. Never say never, but it's not likely we will stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very confusing place if you are staying only a few nights using KOA. The KOA campground sits in the middle of a Thousand Trails membership campground. The amenities have recently undergone an upgrade with a new pool area and clubhouse. Sections of the TT campground are developed with campers permanently on campsites. The campground is gated requiring a key card to get in after hours.

When we arrived we were met by TT folks who were helpful getting us checked in but wanted to sell TT. The KOA staff forgot to give us a card pass for entry into the park after hours so we were locked out one night until someone could open the gate for us. There is a lot of vehicle traffic with both cars and golf carts.

KOA should consider turning their part over to TT. I don't recommend staying here. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

The main staff is the only reason this review is as high as it is. The campsite itself was clean, our pull-through site was huge, and the staff was very kind and helpful. My low review, however, is specifically to the pool staff. We were swimming in the late afternoon, and there was a good sized staff of lifeguards of 4 or 5. They must've had friends swimming, because, despite all the guard towers, they all sat in pool chairs on the same side of the pool chatting with each other, their friends in the pool, and taking pictures with their phones. Yes, at least 2 of them had their phones out, taking selfies!

We only stayed there for the night, but the place had a good friendly vibe to it. I'm not sure if we'd stay there again, but I would warn, not necessarily discourage, people from staying there. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

This was our 2nd time staying at the KOA inside the Thousand Trails park. We were in the one and only 50 amp full hookup pull-thru site there. No one else was there during our overnight. Lots of low branches as we were escorted to our site. Our escort also appeared to be unfamiliar with the roads since she led us in the wrong way. There were also deep ruts on the gravel and grass and the recent rains made everything wet and muddy. Site was fairly level. The park overall had an unkempt feel. There's a dog walking area but no off leash park. WiFi was nonexistent. We'll probably return since it's so convenient to the interstate but for overnight or short stays only. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

I had hopes that this campground would improve. It appeared that Encore/Thousand Trails was willing to invest money in the campgrounds but all of the improvements have been aimed at the seasonal residents. They installed a new playground and sport court and rehabbed the pool two years ago. They also paved and re-graveled the sites in phase 4 but this area is now slowly being converted to seasonal. Last year they began reconstructing an old closed seasonal sectional. The only thing that has been done for non seasonal campers was prompted several years ago by the presence of a large number of long term construction workers. They added sewers to some of the sites in phase two. The construction workers had gravel installed at these sites so they were usable during wet weather. The sites aren't that usable since the utilities are not located in proximity to each other. We were at a site that has a narrow gravel pad. The sewer and water were on one side of the site about 30' apart and the electrical was on the other side of the pad about 10' from the pad. A very poor design. The electrical has been upgraded in the area were sewers were installed. However, the remainder of phase two has old electrical and almost no pads. Many of the boxes look very poor and I would be afraid to use some of them. Overall, this park caters to long term clientele and is adequate for an overnight stay. However, if it is prime season and you have children, there is a lot for them to do with pool, playground and lakes.

We use it because we have a TT membership and have family in the area. I'd rate it as in the midrange of TT parks and below the middle of established commercial campgrounds.

There is good Verizon and most sites have satellite access. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

This campground has a big area of permanent/leased sites, a KOA only campground, and a couple of sections that are shared by seasonal campers and transient users. I think the preferred Thousand Trails area is Phase 4 with paved roads, level gravel sites, and 50 amp/full hookup sites. Several of them are pull through. The roads in Phase 2 aren't as good and not all sites have sewer hookups. The sewer hookups Phase 2 does have are interesting. There are "mini septic tanks" between every other site. Apparently, they work fine and allow RVs to be connected and used in a normal way. The property features a large pool, playground, mini-golf, and other recreational facilities. We had good Verizon 4G and no problems getting satellite TV. We've visited several Thousand Trails preserves through the past few years and we'd rank this one as one of the nicer ones. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Here during Labor Day weekend. Power in Phase 2 section was horrible. Averaged around 103 volts. My surge protector tripped 4-5 times over three days. After afternoon storm, water puddled everywhere including around power boxes. Left early because we were concerned about damage to rig equipment.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed breakfast at KOA cafe. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.

Check in and signage is a bit confusing for TT versus KOA, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Campground is well maintained (mowed and cleaned) and has great amenities, but roads are very uneven with many holes and poor gravel distribution. Sites are also uneven in Phase 2 area, and sites must share the electric box with only 1 50 amp plug in each. There were also many golf carts being driven around, making the roads always busy. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Motorhome.
