11 RV Parks near Birdseye, Indiana
Oct 2016 - $32.00
Our site for 4 nights provided us with a distant lake view during the early fall, this park is huge and have lots of camp sites. Sites are fairly close together with mostly level pads for your camper and other vehicles. Looked to me that many of the better sites where reserved in advance and I will be doing that the next time we return to this park. There is a lot to do here with many hiking trails, visitor center and easy lake access to walk the shoreline, but the lake is the big draw here. Huge lake with great fishing and boating. Entrance fee into the park for campers. The only major complaint I have is the number of fly's that where in the area, they swarmed around everyone campers and when the door was opened in they came, but they didn't bother us anywhere else in the park. I should have know it was a problem when the camp store had fly strips for sale. - Psi500
Jul 2012 - $32.00
The park was hard to find and the campsite was also hard to find. We were there in a 40' RV and most of the sites were small and back-in. For the price, I have stayed at better State Parks. The Beach area was closed because the water level was so low. There were very few campers there. - mnmwillis
Jul 2012 - $24.00
This is a very nice campground. The check-in process was very easy. Most of the sites are nicely spaced. We stayed at Site Number 201. We loved the site, however we wish it had more grass (it was mostly dirt). Patoka Lake State Park is a very nice, well kept park. The only real complaint we have about the campground is that it has no water or sewer hook-ups at the sites -- even with conserving water, this makes it difficult for a family of five to stay much longer than two days without have to hook-up the camper to our vehicle and driving to the dump station and fresh water fill station (separate locations). I have seen this problem at many of the state parks in Indiana. However, even though there are some negatives about this campground, we will probably be back for a one night (or two at the most) stay. - Penny C
Aug 2013 - $22.00
One of the prettiest parks I have ever been in. Excellent experience in my 27 foot Class A. Very friendly host guided me into my level, long site, albeit surrounded by poison ivy. Then he brought me some tomatoes from his (nearby home) garden. A nice treat. Interior roadways are nicely paved but narrow, but navigable. Electric only. Limited air antenna reception, but I sure didn't care, it was so beautiful. Lake and boat launch. RV dump site up the road 3 miles at another facility, but that didn't bother me. Site very clean, fire pit empty, leaves blown, no cigarette butts!! I would come back here again!!! - NJ_Snowbird
Aug 2012 - $22.00
There are a few sites that will accommodate big rigs/multiple slides, but access roads are narrow. Paved and gravel sites, more suited to small/medium rigs, pop-ups, truck campers, and tents. Some sites are more suited for small rigs, as front to back leveling could be a challenge for longer trailers and MHs. Level tent pads at each site. Spotless bathrooms and showers are well maintained and well stocked. - quicksilver812
May 2011 - $22.00
A pleasant, quiet campground. Some good hiking trails in the park. We stayed on the South Loop and enjoyed it much. - Memphis Camper
Oct 2016 - $12.00
Reservations are NOT accepted. Sites are available on a "first come" basis. Pull in and pick the site you want. Any empty site is available. This is a nice quiet family park. There are several play areas and a basketball court as well as covered shelter houses. It fills up quickly with local campers so it's best to arrive early in the week. - kc9mls
Jul 2010 - $36.00
We stayed at Tipsaw in the hot of July and had a ball! The water is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained! The electric hook ups were very helpful and the bath houses were extremely close and all around us. This park is very very well kept up with, they clean up every bit of trash possible, clean out the fire pits every morning and restock bath houses daily. They were extremely helpful anytime we needed something and also very friendly. They have firewood, ice and almost any other camping supply you would need. - just1morebasket
Jul 2010 - $20.00
Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area is tranquil and serene. This small, blissfully quiet lake (no speedboats allowed) has a large beach and picnic area, both well maintained. The campgrounds are on a ridge above the lake (no view). Catbrier Loop has 10 sites, all with electric and water. Catbrier is a lovely park-like setting, with flat grassy areas, numerous trees, and large, spacious sites with concrete grid pads. This loop also has a picnic pavilion and two privy restrooms. A 1/2 mile trail to the beach is located in the back. Dogwood and Jackpine loops have some electric sites and communal water faucets. Those loops offer deep-woods shaded sites, and very nice bathhouses plus other privies are located throughout. CG Hosts are present in each loop, and keep the areas well maintained. We spent an excellent weekend floating in the lake, and watching the abundant wildlife: deer, fox, turtles, bats, cranes, and legions of butterflies. At the end of July, these campgrounds were less than half full, we felt we had the place to ourselves! We will definitely return to Tipsaw Lake and the Catbrier campground. - Flying Mantis
May 2008 - $20.00
This is a very nice and quiet family campground. Heavily forested with a lot of privacy. Even on a busy holiday weekend it was quiet. This is a nice relaxing place with a nice beach and play area for the kids. The play area is not by the campground though, it is over the hill by the beach. - camping hoosiers
Jun 2015 - $47.00
The current owners have only been here for 3 years. They were extremely friendly. It appears that they are really trying to improve the park, HOWEVER, the interior roads are gravel, the sites are gravel, but you don't know where the site ends and the grass begins. The sewer outlet was confusing, my site had 2, one covered by an old car trim and the other was covered in rocks. Water pressure was minimal. The 50 amp power was very good. The picnic table was almost unusable it was so rickety and needs painting. There was also a fire pit that we did not use. It appears that this park caters more to month by month then off the road and the price was really big for what you get. I did notice last year the price in the review was $25.. ?.. - walt66
Mar 2015 - $55.00
We had reserved 50amp spot and when we arrived the male owner was outside. He just looked us and told us they only had one left. We didn't say we had it reserved but knew it would have been given away. We went inside, paid and parked. When I asked the male owner about internet, me snapped and said you can't even wait a day? Come to found out, only Internet if you were on their front porch. I don't know who lived in the houses across the road but the female owner said to use their internet, though she said she didn't know them.
Our broken picnic table was in the sun and on a slant, the male owner wasn't happy we used the one on the campsite beside us. There was only four campers there and we were squeezed next to one in our RV.
One couldn't walk around without watching close because of open sewer lines in ground. We parked beside our RV since no where else to park, owner told me to move. I told him I would not park in the narrow gravel areas because I could be hit. I told him if someone showed up and needed that 8' spot beside me I would move. No one ever showed up the entire weekend we were there.
Firewood was expensive and overpriced to camp in a short gravel lot with sewer ruts. We were treated bad when we first arrived and knew the male owner didn't want to be polite or cared.
We would never camp here again or recommend to even a dog. - DontWorryBeHappy
Oct 2014 - $45.00
I was reading over the post below regarding Painter Creek RV Park. It would seem they had a bad experience. I disagree with their opinion entirely! I found the management very welcoming, in fact they helped me park and hook up. Our RV is 32 feet in length and the site was plenty big. The place was busy for the end of the season. I thought about this unhappy person and it would seem you cant please everyone. French Lick may seem like out in the "middle of nowhere" to some "city folk" but we won at the Casino. We took the grandson to the waterpark, and zip lines. There was plenty to do. Overall a very enjoyable experience. After spending the next day on the lake, (which the free boat ramp is only a mile from the park)we kicked back in the community area with another couple from Indianapolis. They stay yearly. For those of you who cant live without a mall or pavement, I recommend the state park. I myself enjoy the comfort of this clean, well kept park. I intend to return again. I had no problems with internet or noise. - Sharlee
Jul 2016 - $50.00
We camped in one of their "super 30" sites. Super equals a concrete pad. It was almost level, but not quite. The trees surrounding and across the road made backing the trailer in a bit of a challenge. Once in, everything was fine. During our stay we did have a thunder storm with nearby lightning that caused my surge suppressor to disconnect our electric connection. It did its job. Nothing was damaged. - Joe_TUL
Jul 2016 - $54.00
This is an amazing resort and I would have given it five stars except our site was terrible. I've never complained about a site before but I did about this one. The manager was nice and refunded one night but the site was very un-level, covered with poison ivy and had a scrub tree right where the door opened. If we stay here again I would opt for one of the premium sites but they are more expensive. The campground has a lot to do for kids and a lot of rental RV's and cabins. They rent golf carts and decorate them with lights and such and parade around the park. So ask about the level of the site. Do not stay on Pine Street. If your into the golf cart, reserve ahead of time. - RosalitaAS
Jul 2016 - $52.00
Very crowded, golf carts racing through the grounds. The lack of wash room maintenance really showed. Pool nice but very crowded. Very small water slide area for $9 per person, not worth it. Shuttle to Holiday World is good. - Scunie
Oct 2015 - $60.00
Convenient if you want to gamble at the casino. It's a nuisance having to call first then go to the hotel to register and get the key to unlock the hook-ups before pulling into the slip. They are level for 20' and under, not at all for our 45'. Another drawback is the 6am through 10pm mini train whistle that goes off every 15 minutes and runs next to the slips. It is a parking lot with back in RV slips, not a park. It just opened a few months ago so it's spotless, has a trash can for your use, nice wooden swings, full hook-ups that work great, the mini train takes you to the hotel and casino. The water, elect. and sewer hook-ups are at the back but we always travel with extra everything. I was unhappy with the constant 6am-10pm noise so we received a discount. Ask for high numbered sites and hope big rigs park by the train tracks to block the noise. - PERRELLAS
Oct 2015 - $20.00
We have stayed here three times in our travels around the country! This is my favorite park! We have only ever been here on October and it is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The leaves are yellow, orange, purple ....exquisite!
This last time it rained and we were in our Motorola looking at the lake enjoying the view.....very cozy. The people are so nice! We will come again perhaps a different season. - Brandl
Jul 2015 - $35.00
Very nice state park next to National A. Lincoln memorial and Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial (Very nice); wooded campground w/ plenty of space; W & E, dump station. - North Texas DJC
Jun 2015 - $26.00
This is a typical state park with elect & shared water. A dump station is provided at the entrance. There is a beach that is fenced off from the rest of the lake. It is used by a lot of locals who don't seem to take pride in the area and tend to litter and fail to pick up after themselves. It was good for an overnight stay but we would not spend an extended amount of time here. Fortunately and on the plus side, the Lincoln Boyhood Home NHS is right across the road. - h2oskier
Jul 2014 - $16.00
Rundown, hard to find place. We tried two different sites to find electricity, but no luck. No shade, too many mosquitos. We told managers, we were leaving, could not stay with no power, temperature was 105 degrees. - Joe Bounder
Jun 2016 - $35.00
Very nice little place right on the bank of the Ohio River. Quiet and peaceful. They had a little laundry room, but we didn't use it.
The road coming in was narrow and a little bumpy, but manageable.
There are 2 rows, the Inner and Outer. The inner is on the river bank and cost 10$ more. There were very few shaded sites in either row, but it seemed the outer had a little more shade. All the sites are back in.
The Camp Store was closed the whole time we were there, (and looked like they had been for a while)so be sure to get your supplies before you get there, it is 20 miles to the closest real grocery store.
There was almost no phone signal (Verizon)...I could get a text out sometimes. The WIFI was pretty good, except on weekends. Also we couldn't pick up any tv channels, even with our booster.
There were 2 restaurants close by.
All in all it was a good value. - GranNan06
Sep 2015 - $35.00
A hidden gem located in Leavenworth Indiana, right on the banks of the Ohio River. A little hard to get to. The entrance road is one lane and twisted. But the locals go to allow for incoming Rv's. We even had a local driver show us the way to the park. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Full hookup sites with gravel base. There was a large flat area for games and family events even the play area for kids with swings and slides. Totally peaceful and serene. Enjoyed watching the barges go up and down the Ohio River. - oldguyinrv
Jun 2015 - $35.00
Great little campground on the river. Vary nice people running the place. The only thing I did not like the road into the campground it is a little tight at times. Mostly Shady, dirt sites, Picnic Table, and fire ring. - This Old Man
