9 RV Parks near Brookville, Indiana
Jun 2017 - $30.00
We stayed for two nights. Not one time did we see a DNR staff member drive through our loop. The people in the next site, left their dog tied up outside, by itself, while they visited people in a different loop. The dog barked the whole time they were gone(3 1/2 hours). There were people setting off fireworks, after dark. This is a great park, if you like to party and be loud most of the night! - No return
Oct 2016 - $36.00
What a nice state park. We stayed in the C loop which is full hookup. Sites are fairly deep and wide. Paved pad was at an angle to the road so it was very easy to back into. The electric only sites were mostly empty but also have paved parking pads.
Showers and restrooms were clean and abundant. Utilities at the site worked well (the water pressure was a bit low at 25psi).
We had very good AT&T 4G LTE coverage and OTA TV from Dayton and Cincinnati was good.
We stayed here while visiting our son at Miami University which is just a bit over 20 minutes from here. - 4forsmores
Sep 2016 - $40.00
Our second time to visit Mounds SRA at Brookville Reservoir. We stayed in the FHU section again, and it was fairly full. The rest of the park (electric only) was sparsely populated in mid-September.
Electricity was out for about 3 hours on Sunday morning, they got it fixed. Water was out for a while, too, 'cause someone backed over a water spigot and it needed dug out to repair. Service was fairly prompt in correcting these issues. Even still, water pressure is just so-so.
Lots of OTA television channels from both Cincinnati and Dayton, fair 4GLTE signal on ATT.
Sites are large and are asphalt paved for the parking area. There's a large open field in the interior of the FHU site section C, that's used by campers throwing footballs, playing soccer, etc. Overall, it's a pretty quiet campground (or, it was this weekend), and most of the campers/rvs there are pretty nice. Nobody was camping out of the back of a box truck.
The shower houses were awful the first time we went there a couple years ago, but the state did some upgrades/updating to them, according to the DNR website. We didn't use them this time, so I can't say if they did or didn't work on them.
The lake is nice (I caught a nice catfish ;-), but requires driving from the campground (unless you're a VERY ambitious hiker). The camp store is large and well stocked, interior roads in the park are wide and easily navigable. There are marinas for boat rentals in the area. Brookville is sort of a quaint old town, just a few miles away. Metamora was formerly a very touristy little village about 20 minutes away, but it has deteriorated over the last decade.
Mounds is one of the few state parks in Indiana that has full hookup sites and paved pads. For that reason, we do like it, but $40 is too much, really, so that rates it only a 'satisfactory' for us, in terms of value. - fastalker64
Jul 2009 - $28.00
Quakertown SRA is a wonderful campground. Lots of level and grassy sites. Many shaded sites. Close to Quakertown Marina, where you can rent pontoon boats on Brookville Lake. They have a beach, but there were many geese at the beach. This campground is in the middle of no where. There is a store right outside of the park to purchase essentials and they have hot pizza, if you need a break from cooking. The campground is paved and has blacktop pads, with a big picnic table and fire ring. As in most of Indiana state parks no water hookups. If you choose to camp here I would camp close to the one and only comfort station, as the throne pit toilets don't do much for me. This is always a quiet campground. If you have little one's take them to the marina and get some dog food to feed the fish. - theschuettes
Jul 2006 - $25.00
Beautiful, wooded lots. Pit toilets only. Did not see any showers. Must drive to swimming area at the lake. - stephtraveler

Not My Cup Of Tea. This gets a low rating from me because it did not suit my camping needs. I appreciate quiet and peace when camping and this campground did not offer that. This campground offers seasonal and extended stays. I would say that 75% of the campers were in this category. This made it more like a trailer park then a campground. Most of these sites had semi-permanent structures. AND the golf carts.
"Campers" were continuously cruising with music blaring. It seemed that when you were out at your site you were continuously being looked at by the parade of vehicles. They did seem to stick to the 11 pm limit however. There was also quiet, with the ability to hear some nature, in the early morning.
I did not see any access to hiking or nature trails. You must leave the campground for that. If you are looking for a more social experience with the ability to develop more long term relationships with your neighbors and want to drink and socialize, I think this campground with its access to a small lake would interest you.
The site was okay. Not many issues with leveling on my particular site. The picnic table had seen better days and was missing a bench. The paved roads in my section were in horrible shape. More potholes than actual pavement. - evervescent
Jun 2017 - $10.00
Some of the bad reviews didn't apply to us. Initially we understood that the hook-ups were w/e only. We were given our choice of sites and had full hook-ups. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The site was somewhat un-level but not impossible. Our area was very quiet at night. We asked for and got an area with no trees for easy satellite set-up. ATT was good. Wifi was available only at two spots and one of them wasn't working. There was a lot of cruising around in golf carts and therefore raising dust but all in all this was a very satisfactory campground. We would stay here again. - vmi1962
Aug 2016 - $10.00
This can be a nice park if you have reservations and can find a site. They are considering adding more full hookups which are needed as we had a choice of 2 spots. The pool and mini golf were good and the park is large and flat which was good for long bike rides.
There are few guide signs and those that exist require interpretation. Previously I took a wrong turn and found myself locked in behind the office. - Bud H
May 2016 - $30.00
Whitewater is a very nice state park. The campsites are well maintained; however, the facilities could use a little work. They are usually clean, but need updated, repainted, etc. The lots are of good size with tall, mature shade trees. Most lots are gravel and fairly level. The playgrounds could use updating - some of the play equipment is unsafe for young children. Nice beach, boat dock and ramp, and trails. - Indiana Camping Family 45
Jun 2013 - $26.00
Beautiful park and very well maintained campground. Sites were large with a picnic table and fire ring. Most sites had some shade. We stayed in a pull-through site (146). Plenty of room for both truck and trailer. - DonCon
Aug 2009 - $25.00
Nice campground and OK sites, but wow, the hillbillies are out in this park. I have never seen so many drunk people setting off fireworks in my life. The DNR workers would drive right by the people with their radio so loud at midnight and just wave at them??? It's pretty bad when the police are called on both nights that we were here and people left in an ambulance. I even yelled at one of workers (DNR), that were driving so fast through the CG it put the kids in danger. Not sure if it was drunk fest weekend or what, but beware if you visit here. We will not return. If this CG was better managed it would be a nice park. - 1 camper
Aug 2005 - $28.00
This campground was so bad, we did not want to stay. The electrical looked so bad we were afraid to plug into it. The grass was real high and we could see only one other camper and they looked like they lived there. Buildings were very old. This was under ACN and Passport America yet it is not worth any cost unless you really like very primative camping at a premium cost. - oldtiogatraveler
Sep 2016 - $30.00
This is a nice campground, loved staying here hot water in showers, very nice and helpful owners they are constantly updating and beautifying the campground. There is kids playground and river rats business here to rent tubes and kayaks to go on the river, they have walking trails, fishing. It's peaceful here. Would come back. - Bubbles1987
Jul 2016 - $27.00
The campground is in a nice park facility with a great play area for the kids located down by the lake. It is not real close to the campground though.
We also had to purchase an annual county park pass to be able to get in ($10.00).
The reason for the average rating is very few of the sites are level. Many of them are slanting downhill so it is hard to get level.
They could use a little better signage directing those who do not live here to the campground and check in. We drove past it the first time and had to call to find out where to go.
Also, even though they have a maximum camper limit of 6 people and two tents (or one camper unit and one tent) per site there were several that had many more than that, one having at least 18 people in it and one with 4 tents.
Their dump station is also located on a hill making it hard to get completely empty.
It is a very busy park on the weekends with lots of tent campers - 3 to 6 tents per site.
I would recommend this campground in certain areas only and during the week if possible. - prstlkid
Jul 2015 - $28.00
This campground is very close to my home, so we camp here pretty regularly. The upper sites are rather hilly, and most of the lower sites are mostly level. There are a few towards the bottom that have a bad slope, though. There is a playground located in the bottom section, as well. The park offers a lot of attractions (a snack bar, water park for little kids, paved bike trails, disc golf, fishing, hiking trails) and the campground features decent sized sites with plenty of shade. The bathrooms and showers have always been clean when we have camped, and the campground is monitored regularly by park rangers who are friendly and not overbearing. We have a pop-up so without a toilet, so we do not have the problem with the dump station that I keep reading about. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet campground with a lot of activities within the park, I would definitely recommend this park. - McLovin Camper
Jul 2015 - $28.00
We actually like this campground quite a bit, but it has more to do with overall park than the campground itself. The park has a lot of things to do with a nice lake and and hiking trails along with nice paved bike trails. The campgrounds however leave a bit to be desired. We stayed on site 133 and it was not very level. We had to crank the tongue jack all the way down to get the camper level on this site. The site is gravel but was in pretty good condition. We did like that this site was surrounded by deep woods. The site was adequate but not large. It does seem that the 11:00 PM quiet time was enforced or at least we didn't have any real rowdy neighbors and the campground quieted down pretty quickly. It is true as other have said that you have to go to the boat house at the lake to check in and the park staff were teenagers that were friendly but not too knowledgeable about the actual campgrounds. Also as other have pointed out once in the park the signs to the actual campgrounds are confusing -we missed a turn and wound up having turn around in an almost not big enough parking lot- had our 24' camper been larger, we would have had a heck of a time turning around to make the correct turn. And finally -also as others have mentioned- the dump station is on the wrong side. We didn't pull out until Monday so it wasn't a problem for us. We went down to the boat house parking lot -about a 1/4 mile away- and turned around put the dump on the correct side of the camper, but then you have to pull completely through the campground loop again or do some type of fancy backing to get back on the main access road. Bottom line is we like the overall park a lot, but the campgrounds leave quite a bit for improvement. - campdaddy
Oct 2015 - $22.00
Nice state park less than 15 minutes from Miami University. RV sites are electric only and pretty level. Nice space between sites. Although we didn't use the restrooms and showers, we did go in to check 'em out. Not super nice, but clean and will do the job. Large rolling grounds with plenty of hiking trails nearby. They accept Passport America for one night. Verizon service 2-3 bars 4G in the campground but very spotty out in the park. TV signal decent from Cincinnati (we received 30+ channels). Other than the occasional ranger on patrol, didn't really see any employees. That could be the late season. - 4forsmores
Oct 2015 - $19.00
Park was having a Halloween weekend. We came in on Wednesday, just a few electric sites available & we couldn't fit. Attendant called boss & got a site that was held back released for us. Thank you. It was a squeeze to get our 36 ft class A coach in to the site. But we are here. Site has 30 amp, large stump, some low hanging branches, angles down & no water. So come in with water or fill before you go to your site. Many sites are very unlevel so be sure to check site before paying. Asphalt small pad is for your car. $19 average is for Passport America & regular weekend cost. - Peter K
Jun 2015 - $12.00
Typical Ohio State Park. Restrooms & showers dated and need upgrades but it seems to me they have been in this condition for years and years. The staff does a great job with what they have to work with. Many trees have been removed due to the emerald ash borer infestation, so the sites are significantly less shaded but still OK. Great golf course in the park and is a good bargain. Price reflects Passport American/ Golden Buckeye discount. Will return because of the golf course. Walmart nearby in Oxford as well as Miami University. Some sites need lots of leveling but most are within easy fixing. Looks as if all sites get heavy use as grass is sparse at most RV sites. - cecerecreek
Jun 2017 - $44.00
The campground is larger than it appears. We wanted a pull thru, so we didn't stay next to the lake. It was all gravel in our area with no shade trees. There appeared to be some long-term residents. The park is well maintained. There are several odd-looking ducks that roam the campground - they are fearless but friendly, and they don't seem to leave a lot of droppings around. They have limited office hours, and no one is there in the evenings. The office staff were very helpful in person and on the phone. They don't have online reservations, which I found irritating because I prefer to do everything electronically - we sent a deposit check through the US mail to hold the reservation. There are no organized kids activities, though there were paddle boats along the water that you can use. It was close to Cincinnati, which is why we chose it. I wouldn't consider this a destination campground, though if we'd chosen a back-in site along the water I might feel differently. - Morning Star
May 2017 - $44.00
Our 2nd stay here and not as pleasant as the first. I was quoted a rate on the phone that included a Good Sam discount so I made a reservation for the next day. When we arrived late afternoon the next day, they charged the full rate and didn't give me the discount even after I showed them my GS card! They advertise and tell you on the phone that they give the discount so I'm following up with GS about that. It was too late for us to find another overnight stop so I paid the full rate. I think that's what they're counting on if you get there late. As a self described mom and pop operation, they appear to make the rules on the fly. Some people get the 10% Good Sam discount, and others like us don't, and I don't know what criteria they used to determine that. We won't be stopping here again. - Flippitti
Apr 2017 - $40.00
Small campground, sites are long but close together just off interstate. Clean, appeared well kept but mostly gravel and rock. Driveways are narrow. Nice overnight stay. There was a 'glitch' when checking in which double charged me for the stay. Owners took prompt action and refunded money via check with a few days. - FOSJ
