One of the largest state park campgrounds in Indiana, this park has it all. Hiking, boating, swimming beach and lots of wildlife. I counted 7 red birds in a tree at out campsite one morning. Our site was nice but a tree had been removed and the stump ground out so that part of the site was uneven and had no grass. Full hook up sites go fast for weekends and Holidays so book early all other sites are electric only. AT&T was 2bars and OTA TV was adequate. Visitor center is managed by the Army Corp of Engineers and has an overlook of the Dam and lake. I was told the fishing is very good. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

The park itself is nice and so is Brookville reservoir. The campsites is where the park is lacking. Tent sites should be separate from other sites. It just makes sense because of what people are looking for when they rent a site. People were running through all sites with no respect for others. Parents should teach their children better. Dogs were left at sites unattended while owners were visiting elsewhere. Yes they were BARKING. This was a nightmare. I was really disappointed. Never to return. We stayed for two nights. Not one time did we see a DNR staff member drive through our loop. The people in the next site, left their dog tied up outside, by itself, while they visited people in a different loop. The dog barked the whole time they were gone(3 1/2 hours). There were people setting off fireworks, after dark. This is a great park, if you like to party and be loud most of the night! What a nice state park. We stayed in the C loop which is full hookup. Sites are fairly deep and wide. Paved pad was at an angle to the road so it was very easy to back into. The electric only sites were mostly empty but also have paved parking pads.

Showers and restrooms were clean and abundant. Utilities at the site worked well (the water pressure was a bit low at 25psi).

We had very good AT&T 4G LTE coverage and OTA TV from Dayton and Cincinnati was good.

We stayed here while visiting our son at Miami University which is just a bit over 20 minutes from here. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Our second time to visit Mounds SRA at Brookville Reservoir. We stayed in the FHU section again, and it was fairly full. The rest of the park (electric only) was sparsely populated in mid-September.

Electricity was out for about 3 hours on Sunday morning, they got it fixed. Water was out for a while, too, 'cause someone backed over a water spigot and it needed dug out to repair. Service was fairly prompt in correcting these issues. Even still, water pressure is just so-so.

Lots of OTA television channels from both Cincinnati and Dayton, fair 4GLTE signal on ATT.

Sites are large and are asphalt paved for the parking area. There's a large open field in the interior of the FHU site section C, that's used by campers throwing footballs, playing soccer, etc. Overall, it's a pretty quiet campground (or, it was this weekend), and most of the campers/rvs there are pretty nice. Nobody was camping out of the back of a box truck.

The shower houses were awful the first time we went there a couple years ago, but the state did some upgrades/updating to them, according to the DNR website. We didn't use them this time, so I can't say if they did or didn't work on them.

The lake is nice (I caught a nice catfish ;-), but requires driving from the campground (unless you're a VERY ambitious hiker). The camp store is large and well stocked, interior roads in the park are wide and easily navigable. There are marinas for boat rentals in the area. Brookville is sort of a quaint old town, just a few miles away. Metamora was formerly a very touristy little village about 20 minutes away, but it has deteriorated over the last decade.

Mounds is one of the few state parks in Indiana that has full hookup sites and paved pads. For that reason, we do like it, but $40 is too much, really, so that rates it only a 'satisfactory' for us, in terms of value. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

We camped in the full service area. We fished and really enjoyed our stay.

The web site states level sites but you need several blocks to make the trailer level. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

We visited the Mounds SRA full hook up loop. Was very easy to access our spot even when crowded. No issues at all and the lot size was very nice and level. Every DNR employee we met was very friendly and helpful. The camp store is very well stocked with just about everything you could think of and reasonably priced. The boat ramp is very close and the beach was not a far drive. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Very large state campground. It was not busy during May but it gave evidence that it can be very busy with boats and multiple vehicles during the warmer months. Restrooms and showers are older and well used. While they are kept relatively clean, they are not in very good condition and could be updated. One wonders how they must be during a busy time. We stayed in the one loop of full hookup sites. While the parking spot is paved, the living area is not and shows signs of heavy use. During our stay it was wet and the living area was always flooded and/or muddy. We first stayed here 35 years ago and the trees have grown up nicely. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Our first time at the Brookville Lake area. There are three state-park campgrounds around the lake and we chose Mounds SRA. The park is beautiful, the beach is very large and very clean. There are multiple areas to fish from the bank, boat rentals, and lots of trails through the park. The campground is very large, but only a one area with full hook-ups. The rest are electric only. Our site was in a high-traffic area, but the place quieted down pretty nice after about 11:30. Lots of kids and families and lots of activity through the park. Great camp store, too! We love the park and will definitely be back. The only thing that is poor is the quality/age/condition of the shower house. It's pretty well worn down and could use a remodel or a rebuild. The staff tries to clean it, but the chipping paint, old fixtures, and broken shower doors are not 'cleanable'. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

We camp here about once a month in the full hook-up "C" loop. Each site is large enough that we have our trailer, a screen tent, our bass boat and 2 vehicles. Each site also includes a picnic table and fire ring. Almost every site in the "C" loop has at least one tree. This campground is well maintained and very clean. There is also access to a camp store, a beach and boat ramp within this campground. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful state park. Very family friendly and many people camped in tents. Only a third of the sites have full hookup but others have 50 amp power. The weather was hot and humid but the lake supplied a refreshing change. We would stay here again. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

The camp sites are the largest sites we've ever seen (and we've camped in quite a few states over the years). There were several large trees for shade but did not hamper anyone's ability to back into the sites. The sites are on a large 'loop' and the inside of the loop is all nicely mowed for a big open area. We were right across from the 'host' site and they were very friendly. The entire campground was very clean and very well maintained. We would highly recommend this campground and intend to return. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We loved this State Park. The sites are large and spread out so you aren't camping on top of each other. This was camping with full hook-ups. Nice alternative to RV parks. The full hook-up area did get busy over the weekend but never full. On Sunday afternoon you could watch the tail lights leaving the park and during the week there were only 5 or 6 RV's in the full hook-up area. The park is clean, pretty, and helpful, friendly staff. We will stay here again. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for five nights, beginning on a Saturday. It was fairly crowded Saturday evening but with the large sites, it was quiet enough. The sites are indeed quite large. We had room for our 25 foot trailer plus a large tent, plus the provided picnic table, plus all our other gear. The campground was impeccably clean. Staff was very nice. The beach was a short drive away, but what a beach! One of the nicest we've seen at a lake. The only negative thing I can say is that there were more trees needed at the beach. Other than that, everything was wonderful. Don't miss the fishing area with dock before you get to the beach. Wild cranes and other birds can be seen, and it's quite serene. We will definitely be back. This was one of our best camping trips ever!! Oh, and don't miss nearby Metamora. It's like stepping back in time. One thing to remember about visiting Metamora, it's best to go there Wednesday thru Sunday. The town has few open shops on Monday and Tuesday because the canal boat does not run. You are also just an hour away from two different casinos, so if the camping life gets boring, you can go there! This is a great area and so beautiful. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the best campgrounds in the state. The beach and campground was well maintained and the staff was friendly. The sites are large and most sites have decent shade. The design of the smaller loops creates a quiet setting even though this is a larger campground. We are planning our next trip to this campground already. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Tent Trailer.
