Ok for overnighter. Lake is a little walk from cg. Cg is pretty basic but surrounded by trees. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

It's an OK place if you are looking for a stop with full hooks ups for an RV, but not really a place for "getting away" since its basically s loop nestled in some woods between a christian ministry and the village outskirts of Cedar Lake. Pads here are all gravel. Our spot was a tad on the uneven side so we had to shim up our wheels on one side to get near level. Power boxes for site had 1 each 30, 50 amp outlet in addition to a conventional 112v GFCI outlet. Fire ring was somewhat of a disappointment -- essentially a small rusty sheet metal steel ring fairly far back on the site behind where the trailer would sit, with a few shards of what was likely a grill rack at one time, long since eroded away. Not ideally located at all. Generally it was a quiet place during our stay with the exception of An Amtrak line that runs just to the west 200 yards away, so trains would occasionally break the quiet. The lakefront is a short walk away (maybe about 5 to 6 blocks worth of walking). The lakefront area you can access is part of the Ministry, so depending on when you decide to go to the lake, there maybe some groups nearby participating in activities for the Ministry. You can gain access to the lake for swimming there, but "modest" swimsuits are required. We didn't see anyone policing this, but be aware that traipsing around in a thong might get you some unwanted attention. You've been warned guys! ;-). Like we said, its OK place to lay over on your travels. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Struck and Van Til grocery store and a True Value hardware store just a half mile north, so of the park. There is a Red Box there too if you need a DVD for a rainy evening.

This place is a hidden gem! The staff is the nicest we have ever encountered. We made somewhat last minute reservations as we unexpectedly needed to stay the entire summer. They went out of their way to accommodate us with a minimum of movement - even after extending for two extra weeks. Very reasonably priced (stated price was based on monthly rates - and INCLUDES electricity). Sites are back-in and roomy. Larger sites allow for toad parking on site while smaller sites have a spot right across the access road. Well laid out for the space. Some power only sites and some full hook-up. Power was good and clean and the Wifi was the absolute best we have ever experienced in an RV park. It was a little shaky when the weekend warriors were here, but M-F it was outstanding. The bathroom/shower building is nice and kept clean. What's keeping our rating from being a "10" is the water. It's pretty gross. If you can fill up with good water prior to arrival, I would recommend that. For three months, we had no choice but to suffer through smelly showers. Other than that, we couldn't be happier. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Strack's (grocery store) very close to campground. As others have stated, RR crossing just outside the campground is VERY rough. Not many trains, but they are pretty close. Other than that, VERY peaceful area.

The site was a level but because of the tree I had to position the RV just right in order to get the satellite to work. The site is in a quite area with plenty of bunnies. The folks who live in the homes on the grounds were very friendly. The folks that maintained the grounds were very careful around water, sewer and electric connections. Had two surprises, One is the placement of the water connection which was on the opposite side of the other connections. I had to buy an additional 25 foot hose to connect. So watch out for electric and water connections. My electric used up all the line I had but it made it. The other surprise is the railroad near by which would blow its whistle several times in the morning hours. Yes around 2:30am. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Railroad crossing closest to the park is very rough. Be prepared and slow down. If you want very good BBQ, you need to go to Franks which is .5 miles from the RV park. No indoor seating, only outdoor seating is available.

Stayed 4 nights Wasnt able to get sewer as they were full so used the bathrooms. They do not have a dump station. The inside of the bathrooms were clean but the enterance wasnt so nice. No Wifi that I was aware of. The camp grounds were surround by a small wooded area. It was a short walk down to the lake where there is a swimming area. It was Approx. 40 miles to downtown Chicago where we parked for the day for $37 for 12 hrs under Millieum Park. It takes approx 1.5hrs to drive in. The campground is close to a suppermarket. On the way in be carefull crossing the railway tracks as some are killers. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Motorhome.

This campground is located about an hour southeast of Chicago in northwestern Indiana. It's history reaches back over 100 years when Chicago's Moody Church took over management of a railroad recreation destination on a large lake. The ministry at this retreat center continues to this day. The Center's nice RV park is open to the public. It offers FHU back in sites, some with 50 amp electric service. The sites aren't especially deep, but there is adequate parking for extra vehicles. The bathhouse is nicely done and clean. Water spigots are on shared hookups between every other site, equally unhandy to those on both sides so extra water hose will likely be needed. WiFi was pretty good although we did get frequent drops requiring us to reconnect. The sites on the north side of the road in and out are most likely to be satellite friendly. There is no direct lake access but it is just a short walk to the public portion of the retreat center where there are benches along the lake, affording nice views. My Verizon signal was good. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

My fault I didn't look at my paperwork prior to arrival. I expected a check in process like most other parks. The emailed paperwork gives you your site # and you can turn into the CG without going to the office where it will be a bear to turn around a big camper. First impressions were not good at the site. They say no smoking there were dozens of cigarette butts around my site and other trash as well. Had to ask for a clean up. 50 feet of water hose was barely enough to reach my camper and it ran through part of my neighbors site. The roads were easy enough to maneuver with my 40' 5th wheel. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was the closest RV park to the Munster/Hammond area we could find that looked decent. It's a small park with mainly back in spots and gravel pads but the pads are spaced reasonably apart. We had only electric and sewer (no water) due to the season but the park attendant did fill our water tank with a long hose. So we were good for our 3 night stay. Trees were a problem for satellite but a lot of Chicago stations reach here. Wi-Fi was very good most of the time but then went through periods of in and out. I don't think the park attendant is necessarily onsite all the time as this is part of a religious retreat that covers a large area. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 4 nights as we wanted to visit Chicago on our way to the East Coast. When we arrived at check in, our rig was too wide for the spot assigned to us. The host had to come over and use a chainsaw to cut down many branches of the trees on both sides. That worked perfect! We were not able to receive any satellite service and our antenna was iffy. There are sights on the other side of the loop that should be able to get satellite. Very quiet except for the trains that start around 6:30 am. The drive to Chicago was pretty easy. This was a nice park, that people can utilize even if you aren't part of a local church. They allow you to kayak for free, and have a free game room. The sites were all back in, with decent spacing. The RV portion of the camp was not very big, so it was quiet the entire time we were there. We would be back. Excellent price, even with a family (no extra charges per kid). Now called Cedar Lake Ministries RV Park. There was no lower rate for a tent, so I paid full RV price for a backpacking 1 person tent for an electric site, water spigot was on site as well. No good spot to pitch, set up for campers to pull in. Showers clean and very quiet, not far from Hwy 41. Only option in the area. Office not open when I was there, but payment is in advance online so all you need to do is check in with the campground host. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Tent.

The rate is for a 50 amp site with water/sewer. To be perfectly honest, given the name of the campground "Bible Retreat", we were quite hesitant initially to book a site at this campground, never having stayed here before. But the campground was exactly where we wanted to stop for the night so we went ahead. However, this campground is a real gem, very spacious sites, quiet, manicured lawns, polite and courteous hosts, and absolutely no religious signs, discussions or anything else that we may have felt awkward. The campground is located well off the main drag, US 41, but easily accessed and in a really nice area. Do be aware that there is a railroad track about a city block to the west of the park, but we were told, and we now confirm that there are no trains at night. . This campground is now on a select list of locations at the top of our list of stop-overs. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed 4 days while visiting family in the area. This is a very quiet park on the grounds of a large Christian conference center on Cedar Lake. Road and sites were gravel. Sites were level. Utilities worked well, but the locations for water and electric were a little strange (shared posts) so we needed our electric and water extensions to reach. Good WiFi - the best we've experienced in our 3 month trip! No cable. Lots of trees on most sites, so you've got shade, but satellite would be difficult on most sites. Restrooms and showers convenient and clean. No laundry. Close walk to lake and small beach. Very quiet at night. Someone else mentioned the railroad tracks and train. We counted 2 per day - one in the morning and one in the evening....that's it. Very friendly staff. A peaceful, restful place. We will definitely return when back in the area. We camped at Cedar Lake Bible Retreat & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
