This was the closest RV park to the Munster/Hammond area we could find that looked decent. It's a small park with mainly back in spots and gravel pads but the pads are spaced reasonably apart. We had only electric and sewer (no water) due to the season but the park attendant did fill our water tank with a long hose. So we were good for our 3 night stay. Trees were a problem for satellite but a lot of Chicago stations reach here. Wi-Fi was very good most of the time but then went through periods of in and out. I don't think the park attendant is necessarily onsite all the time as this is part of a religious retreat that covers a large area. - Mountain RV User
Sep 2017 - $38.00
We stayed here for 4 nights as we wanted to visit Chicago on our way to the East Coast. When we arrived at check in, our rig was too wide for the spot assigned to us. The host had to come over and use a chainsaw to cut down many branches of the trees on both sides. That worked perfect! We were not able to receive any satellite service and our antenna was iffy. There are sights on the other side of the loop that should be able to get satellite. Very quiet except for the trains that start around 6:30 am. The drive to Chicago was pretty easy. - Weld304

We were pre-registered and did not need to stop at the office or camp host. Very level spot with very good hook ups. Clean, quiet park. - sp123

We decided to give this campground a try for its location. Despite all of the outdated reviews we gave it a try. I'm glad we did. We had no issues. It was quiet, relaxing, and exactly what we needed. - AdventureIsMyMiddleName
May 2013 - $35.00
While the setting for this campground is excellent, the execution is just shy of horrible! The only reason we stayed at this park was its proximity to family and friends. I would never do so again. Go across the border to Indiana, do not come here! The bathrooms are all but unusable, and my wife has refused to use the shower in the ladies room. I didn't think the previous reviews could be true, but believe them. - Phil_S
Mar 2013 - $42.00
This is a very rustic campground with no paved roads or concrete pads. We were very disappointed in the general conditions present and the mud was so bad from the rain the previous day that we nearly got our dually stuck twice just getting to the site. We opted to leave and stay at another park due to the conditions we found in the winter time. It may be more appealing in the summer months, but we cannot recommend it during any kind of wet weather. - RVGFulltimers

This park has potential, but it is not well maintained. Unfortunately, it is situated in the worst possible location. It is sandwiched in between two major Interstates (which are busy at all hours), and a railroad track. It is so noisy, I don't understand how people live there permanently. The "lake" that is there was probably engineered in the building of the Interstates. It is small and not especially attractive. The campsites surround the lake on the Interstate side, so even though you may see the lake, the noise level is so awful I would not recommend it to anyone. There are many permanent residents. If you are stopping there with your camper for a couple of nights and then moving on (which was our situation) you do not feel as if you are "fitting in." Some of the camp sites are nice, some are totally unkempt and messy. The one next to ours had an old dilapidated golf cart, and old shed, and at least 10 old bicycles piled up at the edge of their site which made it practically on our site. Old flower pots and junk were also there which we had to move slightly in order to get to the water hookup. Trains run on the opposite side of the lake, but still the noise is unbearable. We did not even venture to the club house. To get into the park, you have to drive through an area that looks to be from a third world country. Then you pass hundreds of small, permanent trailers that are probably left overs from Katrina. When you do finally get to the park, you go through a stop at a small building with a movable bar to tell them your purpose, then you proceed onto another small building with another bar and you go in and pay. There are so many permanent residents that there are two lanes there, one for the residents to show passes to get back in, another lane for people who want to camp there. That lane is so small, two lined up campers block the entire passage. To cap all these glorified amenities, you pay through the nose to camp there. - The Painter
Sep 2015 - $29.00
The place is huge. Has pool, lake, tennis, everything. I'm sure it's a happening place in summer but very poorly maintained. Big potholes in the very bad travel roads. Mostly occupied by seasonal and permanent residents that have old decrepit RVs and misc structures. The only WiFi is at the main office. Grass is overgrown and our site was loaded with dog poop. But there is a big field where we threw a ball for the dogs. - User2989
Aug 2015 - $48.00
We stayed here for my son to have a good time at a campground designed for kids. Unfortunately, mini golf closed at 6:30. Which I understand, however, the pool was for 21 and up, and the main station smelled like a bar. - slinke

Oct 2017 - $30.00
This is the first time in 9 years using RV Park Reviews that I have felt misled by a campground rating. This place deserves a Below Average rating. I don't care that it's mostly mobile homes. But it's noisy, run-down, and poorly laid out (we couldn't even use the first site they sent us to because with our tires on the two narrow strips of broken concrete that serve as a pad we couldn't put our slide out without hitting the electric pedestal). Roads are torn up and so crowded and narrow it was challenging to get in and out. Tracks run right next to the park and trains blare their horns all night. I should have given up after being unable to reach the office, leaving multiple messages to make a reservation, and not having them returned. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other options. - Keeping up with the Joneses
Sep 2017 - $30.00
Wonderful stay and great customer service. Extremely helpful and even helped my hubby into the site while I was in paying. Staff is awesome, polite and just amazing! Sites were on a concrete runway which made it nice to park. Each site had its own trash can as well as a huge patio for chairs and tables and such. - Dan-Nichelle Inman
Jul 2017 - $20.00
Mobile home park with lots available for RVs. Some of the homes were a bit run down, but overall most were kept clean. Residents and staff were all friendly and helpful. It is a short drive to West Beach for some hiking or fun in the sun. There is easy access to the highways nearby for driving into Chicago. Park was quiet, safe and reasonably priced. We have lots of family in the surrounding areas and will absolutely stay here again when we visit. - Lissa Marie

Our site was strewn with garbage to the point that it resembled an inner city vacant lot. One of the wooden beams from the fence around the site was scorched and sitting in the grass nearby. The closest bathroom, in the gameroom, was a mess, the toilet clogged and filthy, despite the presence of a young employee sitting a few feet away watching a DVD. The seasonal residents who appear to make up the overwhelming majority of the customers constantly ride by in golf carts. While I was sitting there pondering whether to spend a half-hour cleaning up the trash on the site, a cart loaded with about six unsupervised youths nearly crashed down the path right next to the site. At that point I had seen enough. One of the greatest joys of my just-finished vacation was putting this dump in my rear-view mirror. I only wish there had been a review on this site to steer me away beforehand. Consider yourself warned: This is not a good campground. - Family of four

Sep 2016 - $50.00
We spent the last month (Sep 2015) traveling with our 5th wheel over 11 states. One of the most enjoyable campground we encountered was the Oak Lake Family Campground. Oak Lake is located in the Northwest corner of Indiana. It is a large plot of land, lots of trees, quiet as its removed from a major highway (I-65) by several miles and very children friendly
GENERAL: The owners are exceptional hosts. We arrived near the end of Sept at the start of a weekend. The hosts had the arrival area and the camp store decorated in a Halloween theme. Kids were dressed in their Halloween finery and in evening hours were trick-or-treating in the campground. The hosts had more Halloween festivities in the later evening hours and everyone was having a fantastic time
The campground is inspected daily by the staff. They pickup litter that's been carelessly discarded and walk the entire grounds doing it. The staff also has a yard-vacuum pulled by a pickup truck they use to pickup rocks, sticks, leaves and other debris
There is a peaceful lake, park style climbing structures, swings and other child use items
SITES: The sites are grass and gravel but solid and level. They have sites for rigs like ours, tent sites, pop-ups, travel trailers and cabin rentals. When we backed our RV into the assigned site, we didn't have to fiddle around with leveling blocks under this or that wheel, or that sort of thing, very nice
AMENITIES: TV signals are received "off-the-air" with an antenna and stations populated from Chicago and South Bend/Mishawaka; they were very clear and sharp. Hook-ups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric) readily available. A public bathhouse that is well maintained and cleaned daily. There is a WIFI hotspot that appears to cover the grounds. Didn't have any problems using it. - JD Delancy
Aug 2016 - $40.00
Well shaded pull-thru site, owner was very nice and guided us to our site. Nice earthen pond / swim area with large air toys (we did not partake in our one night stay). Very shaded area, but probably was over-due for mowing. The sites (and area) are sand or very fine chat-gravel - I slipped tires in the loose soil while positioning my fiver. Location is fairly convenient off the interstate - far enough to not be noisy. We did not try the wifi. - Wally G
Jun 2015 - $41.00
Good quality interior gravel roads, level grass and gravel campsites. Lots of trees. The recent heavy rains knocked out the sewer (septic system) due to high water table. Working on solutions. WIFI slow. Convenient to I-65 but away from traffic noise. Very nice folks. - runamuka

We've been coming hear every year for 6 years, sometimes twice a year. The park has improved each year since we first came. The people that run it are sometimes difficult to understand, but they are very nice and help in any way they can. The park is very quiet even on holidays. The revelry stops a little after dark, so everyone can get a good nights sleep. It is well off the beaten path, no traffic noise. You can hear the train sometimes off in the distance, but I find it soothing not annoying. Will likely continue to come as long as we are able. - mjlayton

Indiana Dunes State Park was full so I ended up staying here. I was under a tree and the site was fairly level. The owner said the hiking trails were closed due to limbs being down & the pool was closed because of recent treatment with chemicals. I didn't use the facilities because I was alone and a little spooked by the obviously lived-in trailers that were very unkempt. Not all of them were that way, but at least three were a mess. It's obvious they're trying because they've built new cabins and new bath houses, but why put your money into that if you're going to leave all the construction rubble behind? The owner told me to look for my own site and if the electric box says OK, it works. Well, I looked and there were no signs anywhere. Fortunately, a worker came around and he tested it for me. Sure enough, dead. So, he tested another and that one was fine. There's a playground for the kids and a pool but it wasn't open. All in all I wouldn't say it was a bad visit but I sure didn't want to stay another day or night. I wouldn't recommend it. - Givmeabr8k
Jul 2012 - $35.00
Stopped here for a night. It is about 3 miles off the interstate driving through a neighborhood and cornfields. The turn into the campground is a bit tight for a big rig. The sign is old and advertised a religious camp. The office is sparse, only a desk and a few things for sale. The person in the office was Asian and did not speak much English. He did not ask how big our rig was, just said he had water and electric available. We told him we were over 40ft with our tow vehicle so he gave us a grass site with water and electric. The site was only 20 amp so we asked for another which was 30amp. The electric quit working after about an hour and the office was closed, so we had no power which was hard on our dog. The restrooms were ok. We would not stay here again. - mohocamper

Sep 2017 - $30.00
This is a fantastic campground situated right on Lake Michigan, easy to navigate with long, level, paved campsites. Good separation from neighbors. We stayed here 9/11 to 9/15. There are many dune trails to hike, although we didn't do any hiking while we were there. We were in site 125 (electric only), but had to run off 30 amp power as our surge protector showed a reverse polarity error when plugged into the 50 amp outlet. We told the maintenance man, who looked at it but wasn't able to fix it while we were there.
The pavilion near the beach was closed for the season, and we heeded the dangerous condition signs posted for no swimming or wading in the lake. Bathrooms were clean, and shower area had a few bugs and no place to hang items (like clothes or a towel), but had good water pressure. There is also a one-time $12 fee for non-residents when entering the campground. Overall a very nice campground and we would stay here again. - RVIN 24-7

Great state park. You will be charged an entrance of $12.00 if you are not a resident of Indiana. Beautiful park with lots of trees & great hiking paths. - Dksnapshots
