Rustic, pit toilets, but decently clean and maintained. Most spots are large, but some are very small and have steep angles. - dbng
Aug 2013 - $22.00
One of the prettiest parks I have ever been in. Excellent experience in my 27 foot Class A. Very friendly host guided me into my level, long site, albeit surrounded by poison ivy. Then he brought me some tomatoes from his (nearby home) garden. A nice treat. Interior roadways are nicely paved but narrow, but navigable. Electric only. Limited air antenna reception, but I sure didn't care, it was so beautiful. Lake and boat launch. RV dump site up the road 3 miles at another facility, but that didn't bother me. Site very clean, fire pit empty, leaves blown, no cigarette butts!! I would come back here again!!! - NJ_Snowbird
Aug 2012 - $22.00
There are a few sites that will accommodate big rigs/multiple slides, but access roads are narrow. Paved and gravel sites, more suited to small/medium rigs, pop-ups, truck campers, and tents. Some sites are more suited for small rigs, as front to back leveling could be a challenge for longer trailers and MHs. Level tent pads at each site. Spotless bathrooms and showers are well maintained and well stocked. - quicksilver812

If you want to pay the highest rate for a terrible time than here's the place. The lady owner takes your money, never to be seen again. Warns to drive only 5 mph due to their deaf dog, never to be seen. Signs say Smile you're on Camera posted everywhere...no cameras seen. No garbage pickup, have to take it to the overflowing dumpster yourself. You're supposed to shut off the air if you leave campground. So you can return to a overly heated camper and melted foods. The sewer hole is so shallow the sewage splashes out, if you have your sewer hose fully opened. Better be sure to hold it down with something! No Verizon service, no wifi, unless on the office step. Male owner made us move our truck, so it stuck out in the traffic path. He was a jerk about the internet and phones. Felt like a prison camp. Did not see games advertised on website. The rules are so long and ridiculous. Had to leave a day early and no refund, the woman owner never even contacted us like her husband told us. So they got a day of our money without us there. I told her when I called I wasn't certain about the extra days after the first 2. They are not honest, caring people. Do not stay here! It was stressful and unfriendly. There are state parks that are much better; we were told by townspeople. - CamperQuilter
Aug 2016 - $35.00
Camping here was a pretty awful experience, and we would recommend highly, please don't stop here, unless you are prepared to experience an invisible fence around your camper. God forbid you deviate several grass blades off your lot, even though there are hardly any other campers in the campground. The management was brash and downright mean, not friendly at all. Wi fi is available but you must be on their porch at the office. Management makes nasty statements asking why would you want to use wi fi when you are camping? After a heavy rain, we laid our wet items on an adjacent empty gravel lot to dry , and when we returned, it was all bundled up and thrown into a pile on the grass in front of our camper. Our picnic table was present when we first arrived but then was removed from our lot by management. There are no trees for shade in the park. It was not a happy or enjoyable experience at all!! BEWARE!!! - Thornton
Jun 2015 - $47.00
The current owners have only been here for 3 years. They were extremely friendly. It appears that they are really trying to improve the park, HOWEVER, the interior roads are gravel, the sites are gravel, but you don't know where the site ends and the grass begins. The sewer outlet was confusing, my site had 2, one covered by an old car trim and the other was covered in rocks. Water pressure was minimal. The 50 amp power was very good. The picnic table was almost unusable it was so rickety and needs painting. There was also a fire pit that we did not use. It appears that this park caters more to month by month then off the road and the price was really big for what you get. I did notice last year the price in the review was $25.. ?.. - walt66

Very nice little place right on the bank of the Ohio River. Quiet and peaceful. They had a little laundry room, but we didn't use it.
The road coming in was narrow and a little bumpy, but manageable.
There are 2 rows, the Inner and Outer. The inner is on the river bank and cost 10$ more. There were very few shaded sites in either row, but it seemed the outer had a little more shade. All the sites are back in.
The Camp Store was closed the whole time we were there, (and looked like they had been for a while)so be sure to get your supplies before you get there, it is 20 miles to the closest real grocery store.
There was almost no phone signal (Verizon)...I could get a text out sometimes. The WIFI was pretty good, except on weekends. Also we couldn't pick up any tv channels, even with our booster.
There were 2 restaurants close by.
All in all it was a good value. - GranNan06

A hidden gem located in Leavenworth Indiana, right on the banks of the Ohio River. A little hard to get to. The entrance road is one lane and twisted. But the locals go to allow for incoming Rv's. We even had a local driver show us the way to the park. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Full hookup sites with gravel base. There was a large flat area for games and family events even the play area for kids with swings and slides. Totally peaceful and serene. Enjoyed watching the barges go up and down the Ohio River. - oldguyinrv

Great little campground on the river. Vary nice people running the place. The only thing I did not like the road into the campground it is a little tight at times. Mostly Shady, dirt sites, Picnic Table, and fire ring. - This Old Man

Nice campground. Total privacy during the week. Weekends had to be busier. Not a camper within a 1/4 mile. - mojomoho
Oct 2016 - $32.00
Our site for 4 nights provided us with a distant lake view during the early fall, this park is huge and have lots of camp sites. Sites are fairly close together with mostly level pads for your camper and other vehicles. Looked to me that many of the better sites where reserved in advance and I will be doing that the next time we return to this park. There is a lot to do here with many hiking trails, visitor center and easy lake access to walk the shoreline, but the lake is the big draw here. Huge lake with great fishing and boating. Entrance fee into the park for campers. The only major complaint I have is the number of fly's that where in the area, they swarmed around everyone campers and when the door was opened in they came, but they didn't bother us anywhere else in the park. I should have know it was a problem when the camp store had fly strips for sale. - Psi500
Jul 2012 - $32.00
The park was hard to find and the campsite was also hard to find. We were there in a 40' RV and most of the sites were small and back-in. For the price, I have stayed at better State Parks. The Beach area was closed because the water level was so low. There were very few campers there. - mnmwillis

Very nice park, site was wooded, level, paved and close to restrooms. Indiana state charges for everything. $7 entrance fee, in addition to camp fees. Plus $5 each person per day for entrance to pool. Caves are closed, but others nearby. Mountain bikes trails are for experienced riders. - Edna jones
Aug 2013 - $20.00
We have stayed here three times in the past. All three times were enjoyable. In the past we were able to attend the Wyandotte Cave guided tours, but the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has closed nearly all the caves in the state in order to protect bats from a disease that is killing them off. However, the tour through Indiana Caves was well worth the price of admission. The sites vary from very level to very unlevel, but most people did not seem to have extreme problems getting them level. The sites in the "A" portion seemed to be the most level. The restrooms were dated, but clean. Trails were poorly marked so that could use improvement. The water park was very nice especially with two grandkids in tow. We were there during the 1850's haypress demonstration and pioneer village reenactment which was interesting, but can't take the place of the cave tours. - Dewey Smith
Jul 2012 - $24.00
The park was very scenic. We stayed at Site 35. When reserving it, we were told that the site was level and that slide-outs were allowed. Upon arriving at our site to set-up, we quickly realized that those statements were not accurate. Our site was not level by any means. In order to level out our 30' travel trailer, we had to lift the camper almost 6 inches just on the door side of the camper to make it level from side to side. Since we have a slide out, due to the trees, we were not able to back all the way into the back of our site. As a result, the steps of RV were not the asphalt pad. There was at least 20" between the ground and our bottom step. This made it VERY DIFFICULT to get in and out of our travel trailer, especially with our 90 pound German Shepard, who had to be lifted up and down the steps each time. It was also dangerous for our 5 year-old. I do NOT recommend this particular site to anyone with a slide-out or a larger RV. It may be okay for pop-ups and for primitive camping. On a positive note, the campground was very nice and the staff was very polite and friendly. The State Park itself has an extremely nice pool with waterslides, kiddie pool, splash area and a nice-sized regular pool. The admission for the pool is only $2/person, which was more than worth it. - Penny C

We stayed at Tipsaw in the hot of July and had a ball! The water is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained! The electric hook ups were very helpful and the bath houses were extremely close and all around us. This park is very very well kept up with, they clean up every bit of trash possible, clean out the fire pits every morning and restock bath houses daily. They were extremely helpful anytime we needed something and also very friendly. They have firewood, ice and almost any other camping supply you would need. - just1morebasket
Jul 2010 - $20.00
Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area is tranquil and serene. This small, blissfully quiet lake (no speedboats allowed) has a large beach and picnic area, both well maintained. The campgrounds are on a ridge above the lake (no view). Catbrier Loop has 10 sites, all with electric and water. Catbrier is a lovely park-like setting, with flat grassy areas, numerous trees, and large, spacious sites with concrete grid pads. This loop also has a picnic pavilion and two privy restrooms. A 1/2 mile trail to the beach is located in the back. Dogwood and Jackpine loops have some electric sites and communal water faucets. Those loops offer deep-woods shaded sites, and very nice bathhouses plus other privies are located throughout. CG Hosts are present in each loop, and keep the areas well maintained. We spent an excellent weekend floating in the lake, and watching the abundant wildlife: deer, fox, turtles, bats, cranes, and legions of butterflies. At the end of July, these campgrounds were less than half full, we felt we had the place to ourselves! We will definitely return to Tipsaw Lake and the Catbrier campground. - Flying Mantis
May 2008 - $20.00
This is a very nice and quiet family campground. Heavily forested with a lot of privacy. Even on a busy holiday weekend it was quiet. This is a nice relaxing place with a nice beach and play area for the kids. The play area is not by the campground though, it is over the hill by the beach. - camping hoosiers

Oct 2017 - $60.00
French Lick and West Baden are wonderful historic hotels with beautiful grounds. However the RV Park is not in sync with the rest of the property. For $60 a night I expected a lot more. The camping area is a back row of an outer parking lot with no landscaping and no privacy. Twelve lines are painted on the pavement which were supposed to designate the dozen RV sites advertised. But if 12 rigs parked here you wouldn't be able to put your slides out, the sites are that close. So French Lick gives you two sites when you register, which means there's really only 6 RV spots with hook-ups. Services are located in the rear, too far for our sewer hose to reach. Behind the service poles are a couple of bench swings under small pergolas with a community fire pit between, which was the only nice touch in the whole camping area. A historic train runs alongside the RV park and blows its whistle at the nearby crossing. Shuttle busses will stop at the RV Park for transport to both hotels and the casino. Walking from the RV Park to the casino is not far, but there's no dedicated sidewalks and the shortest route takes you around a rear loading dock which was a bit unsettling at night. We've been to French Lick many times and always stayed at the wonderful hotels. This was our first time in the RV Park, and I was surprised at the scant amenities and lack of thought put into the camping area. For the hefty fee that's charged, there's much room for improvement. - Flying Mantis
Oct 2015 - $60.00
Convenient if you want to gamble at the casino. It's a nuisance having to call first then go to the hotel to register and get the key to unlock the hook-ups before pulling into the slip. They are level for 20' and under, not at all for our 45'. Another drawback is the 6am through 10pm mini train whistle that goes off every 15 minutes and runs next to the slips. It is a parking lot with back in RV slips, not a park. It just opened a few months ago so it's spotless, has a trash can for your use, nice wooden swings, full hook-ups that work great, the mini train takes you to the hotel and casino. The water, elect. and sewer hook-ups are at the back but we always travel with extra everything. I was unhappy with the constant 6am-10pm noise so we received a discount. Ask for high numbered sites and hope big rigs park by the train tracks to block the noise. - PERRELLAS

The women's restroom was locked, so I used the men's. It was out of toilet tissue. It was mostly a place for long-term stays and many of the RVs were old and unsightly. There was free Wi-Fi, but no cable hook-ups. - Kean

We have camped here before. Not much has changed a little cleaner maybe. Very good power. It was an overnight stay this time. Easy on and off I-64, about 2 miles away. - ragsland
Aug 2014 - $50.00
The campground is mainly occupied by long term stays. We were there for 3 days and no one ever checked on us. We were the only ones in our area; we did ask to move due to the space we were originally asked to go in was not big enough for our rig. The place is run down, not well kept, trash laying around, old run down campers sitting with weeds grown up all around them, grass is long and a lot of weeds. We counted 6 copperhead snakes, however, the campground does sit on Indian Creek. There was a sign in the not so clean bath house, which consisted of a toilet, sink and shower, that stated to clean it up or lose privileges to it. We did not use the bath house. It looks like at one time it may have been a nice place; It's a shame. The Good Sam discount was only $1/day. Most of the shops in the town were closed by 4:30 on Saturday and not open at all on Sunday. Did I expect more for $50/day? Yes, I guess I did because I have received better for the same price and less. There is obviously no pride in the ownership/management of this campground :( We will not go back and not recommend it. - Snoopzq

Park looks very nice. There is a 24 hour lit public walking trail around the pond in the park as well as Disc golf course and outdoor exercise equipment. Lots of ducks, geese and flying bugs. Small petting zoo on premises as well as paddle boats for rent. Rentals not offered when we visited. Did not use the restroom or shower facilities. Wood for sale was 4x4 blocks, which I've never seen firewood sold like that, but I'm sure it keeps the fires smaller. Electric and Water only. Dump on-site. As with most State parks, beware the park entrance fee - $6, non-resident. - Unknown_Normal
Oct 2015 - $15.00
We stayed here in October 2015. It is a lovely park with roughly 75 campsites. Most have water and electric; about 14 are primitive and are in a separate section. The sites are of varying lengths; the web site will tell you the size of each site. Eleven sites are over 60 feet, some of them are pull through. We had 50 amp service at our site; I can not say for all sites. It is about 25 minutes or less north of Corydon, Indiana, and near the Indiana Caves and French Lick. The lake has boats for rent, a paved walking, and plenty of squirrels, ducks, and geese to watch while relaxing. The sites were paved, but a little pitched. Bring a couple of leveling boards and you will be fine. We payed $25 for Sunday and $15 for the week days. We enjoyed this campground very much. - jwc47031
Sep 2015 - $28.00
Very nice park with lots of shade in the campground. There is a nice fishing lake with a beach for swimmers. There is a nice walking/biking path around the lake which we enjoyed. Our site was a little unlevel (#53), but we rode around the campground and found a few others we would pick when we return. - Donna Jo

Reservations are NOT accepted. Sites are available on a "first come" basis. Pull in and pick the site you want. Any empty site is available. This is a nice quiet family park. There are several play areas and a basketball court as well as covered shelter houses. It fills up quickly with local campers so it's best to arrive early in the week. - kc9mls
