The sites were level (due to traffic leaving our previous location we arrived around midnight). I was able to get into my spot and leveled on the 1st shot. We had 2 other people with us who had NEVER been camping before and they found all of the facilities to be clean and up to date. The entrance to the RV Park is about 500 feet past the entrance to the 4H Center. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is old and run down and has a lot of long term construction workers staying here. The sites are gravel, un-level and right on top of each other. They have cable TV on the power pedestal, but you have to go to the office and rent a converter box. They have Wi-Fi but the signal is so weak that it won't do anything but hook up and unhook constantly. I never did get on line and had to use my minutes on my hotspot. Sewer pipe is sticking way too high out of the ground, hard to use with a small travel trailer that is low to the ground. The only reason I gave the park four stars is because of the location. If you need to be in Evansville, it is close to town. The lady in the office was nice and helpful. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a casino downtown, many places to eat. Not much to do at the 4H Center unless there is something going on at the time. They were full when I was there preparing for a demolition derby.

I put 0 for the price because we couldn't find anyone to pay. I agree with review from last year. They need a camp host to better manage the place. Picnic tables need replacing. Beautiful fair grounds to walk and bike. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Motorhome.

Staff is pleasant and rates are good. Overall weekly rate equals $18. per night with Good Sam membership. Excellent cable selections. Wifi speed of 5.5 Mbps. Location has trees and nice walking trails. The park is a bit run down. Too much litter in campsights. Laundry room is okay. $1.25 per wash, $1.00 for 30 minute dry. Showers / restrooms are on the low side of acceptable. Some campers look like they are there semi permanently. Not a good sign. Noise from nearby trains is an issue. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We have stayed here many times to visit relatives. Reviews are old and not too reflective of the campground. If you expect a resort don't come here. If you want a campground with space (the new area), full hookups including wifi and a large selection of cable stations, plenty of room to walk or bike and sit by the lake then come. If you want to picnic at your site its poor but there are picnic areas all over- this is a very large facility. It is noisy due to the trains. This is the only one with cable and wifi in the area. Sewer connection is uphill. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Motorhome.

For the money, we expected more in the way of amenities, including a level site. Finding where to pay was a problem as well, and the office had to be open. No hosts on site. On the good side, there was lots of room for walking, bike riding, and flying the model airplanes. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Motorhome.

There are not many choices in the area and we arrive at this campground late. We could not find the RV park office to check in. A permanent camper helped us locate a campsite. The entire park is gravel. RVs were tight side by side. There was an area with trees, our campsite was bare. We heard the nearby train horn all through the night. The next morning we had to search for the RV park office; it is not conveniently located. We had two RVs; one was a motorhome. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed in a newer section. Hookups oddly spaced. Site not level. Train crossing one block away and they run all night long -- blowing horns and rumbling! After hours check in staff friendly. Would not stay again. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Travel Trailer.

This was an excellent campground for an overnight stop off of I-64, just a few miles north of Evansville. Full hookups on level, gravel sites. The setup is a little weird, but the camp host got us pointed in the right direction. There are very busy train tracks approximately one quarter mile from the campground. There are some full-timers here who maintain their sites pretty well. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the few places to camp in Evansville. The camping area isn't very large, and you will be parked very close to your neighbor. It can be a little tight getting into your space depending on whether you have a neighbor or not. All sites are gravel. Satellite reception may be a problem if you are parked under the trees but shouldn't have any problem with antenna reception. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There may be large events scheduled and at times it can be very busy here. Plenty of room and trails for walking. When we arrived, the park was nearly full (many stay there in the winter, much to our surprise!) and we were unable to get our 45 foot coach into the space (they told us in advance we may not fit). The staff were very kind and we parked in the lower area parking lot expecting to dry camp and they were able to provide us with 30 amp power and water connection from a shed (which we didn't use since temps in the 20's). They offered this to us for no charge, however we made a donation to the park since they were so kind and there was no where else to stay in the area (except Flying J parking lot!). Whenever we come through the area we stay here. You certainly can't beat the price and location. Call ahead for reservations as there are only about two dozen sites (and not all can accommodate a large motorhome). We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Motorhome.

Adequate for an overnight stop in an area with few campgrounds. Sites are level, but small and jammed together. Railroad track is 1/4 mile away. Campground hosts were very friendly and helpful. We camped at Vanderburgh 4-H Center in a Motorhome.
