It is exactly what the name says it is, a fairground. So, no trees, no privacy and no real amenities. That said, it is easy to get from the campground to anywhere in Amish Country. We were here to have some work done on our RV. This was a great location for us to stay and since we needed to pull out early in the morning on the scheduled work day, it was nice to not have gates etc to worry about. We stayed just before the county fair, so there was lots of activity on the grounds during the day, more of which was a problem. There is a train nearby, so if you are parked in some areas, and you are a light sleeper, it could be a problem. It did not bother us at all. It was a convenient place for us to stay. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Beautiful country, lots of good shopping, restaurants all close by. Nothing within walking distance, but only a few minutes by car.

We stay here when visiting the Indiana Amish country. We find it to be a very convenient, central location to the various Amish communities around including the restaurants, markets, Shipshewana flea market, etc. The campground is basic, no particular amenities; but it has great access to the trail system, is clean and secure. Wifi is generally OK. Not much shade available on most of the sites. The gravel is getting a bit skimpy on some of the sites, but there are paved access roads. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Nice grassy site in northwest RV area. Paved bike trail passes fairgrounds on north side, connects to many-miles long Maple City and Pumpkinvine bike trails. In many of the RV areas of the fairgrounds, electric and water pedestals are at the rear of the sites and serve two sites, so you might need up to 50' of electrical cord and/or water hose to reach the rear of the next site over. Sewer connections are at rear of each site, not shared. New WiFi system and in-park Verizon cell tower were recently installed, work well. We were visiting nearby family, not attending a rally, so paid full rate. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Many good local restaurants, big-box stores nearby. Many of the RV factories are within 20 miles for easy visits for service.

We stayed here a few nights to connect with friends who were part of a Heartland Rally. They only had water and electric sites as the facility was full but that was okay. They had dump facilities towards the back of the fairgrounds.

Trains run very regularly and if you are on the south side of the park you may not enjoy the noise and vibrations. The train tracks runs right next to the fairgrounds property.

We parked on grass. The site we chose was sloped downhill but we had leveling blocks and had no problem leveling the RV.

The bathroom facilities are new and very nice. There are lots of things that must go on during events as there are lots of buildings and eateries available. There are lots of places to walk around and see within the fairground property.

We would stay here again as long as we are located on the north side of the property. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the RV manufacturers while here. The factory tours are very educational!

Attended a rally, & rate reflects special rate. Quiet except for nearby trains that run through the night. Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel on Maple Street. Site 287 was level, gravel, narrow with no shade or grass. Site is not long enough for truck, but able to park close by. Except for some field sites, interior roads are paved. There was lots of rain and many sites in grassy areas had many, long-lasting puddles and mud. WiFi was good as was over the air TV. Full hook up connections are in the rear of site & a long ways from trailer outputs. We needed more than 20 feet of sewer hose. Bath houses are very clean. No laundry facilities. Good areas to walk. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Flower quilt trail, Amish community, countryside drives.

We stayed a week for a rally here. Our site was inside the racetrack. There's no off-leash dog park but plenty of places to walk the dogs. Wi-Fi was weak at our site. Great water pressure. Very muddy when it rains. Site was open with good TV reception using the antenna. Clean restrooms, no laundry. Would stay here again. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We attended a rally here. The rate was a rally rate. The Fairgrounds route is fairly indicated on the approach roads. They have a nice wide Main Entrance but their signage can be a bit confusing. When we arrived (a day early) we used the Main Entrance but there was another event held over the weekend and you were required to use a different entrance and exit. Not terrible but somewhat confusing. The entrance road was a bit rough with a huge hole in it. They did patch the hole while we were there. We had no problem finding and backing into our site. Paved roads with level gravel sites. Plenty of room between sites. All utilities are located at rear of sites. Make sure you carry enough water and sewer hoses. The electric connection was just a few feet for our rig but could be further away if your connection is not located on rear of your rig. This is a great place to hold a rally or just spend a night or two. The Fairgrounds were clean and obviously well taken care of. We really enjoyed our stay and would/will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We also stayed here about 9 years ago and chose to stay here again when we were in the area this year. The campground is convenient to the Amish country sites and events, and is very convenient to many RV manufacturers, service centers, accessory manufacturers, etc. The campground is clean, secure and offers a very big area for walking or biking. Plus, access to Goshen's trail network is just across the street. The Wi-Fi was reliable but not extremely fast. There are no amenities beyond the basic RV-related necessities. Overall we find the fairground to be a good choice for staying in this area. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

We did not stay here for a rally or fair. It was a little eerie to stay in a virtually empty fairground. The only others we saw were workers setting up for the fair the following week. The train tracks run right by the fairgrounds. The trains run all night. I like the sound of a train but this was a bit much. The $30 fee was a bit much when all you are getting is a space, no pool or other amenities. We tried it once but wouldn't do it again. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We stayed overnight to have work done on the trailer. The fairgrounds were nice and the bathroom/showers were clean. Other than the trains that came by, it was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay here and would come back if we needed to have work done. We were here for The Escapees rally and found the facilities very good for us. The sites vary and some were a bit soggy during wet weather. Would stop here again as it is close to town and many RV suppliers. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Rate for site was included in our rally registration. Main road into the fairgrounds was closed for construction causing us to make a detour of several blocks. Trains are loud at times, but generally a nice park with ample level sites and good utilities. We have stayed several times and would definitely stay again. We camped here with an RV rally for a week so rates reflects the rally rate. There are several RV parking sites and we were in the 300 area backed up to the train tracks. Believe me train business is alive and well. At least they waited to round a bend before blowing their horn every time they flew by, which was just about every few minutes. You can get used to them quickly, just can't talk or hear the TV over them. Some sites require extra sewer, electrical or water connections. There was a Mennonite Relief sale during the week we were here, and there were thousands of cars and people. The big attraction was the quilt auction. The grounds in the park are beautiful with lovely areas of flowers and shrubs, very well taken care of and also a good place to ride bicycles. A great place to stay to tour all the area around Goshen, Indiana. Would definitely stay here again. A wonderful place for a rally group. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We were here for the FROG rally and had a wonderful time. The grounds were beautiful hard to believe it was a fairgrounds, plenty of sites, there was a lot of train noise as there is a very active rail line right behind the grounds, but after awhile we got used to it. Would not hesitate to stay here again when in the area. As a matter of fact, would be our 1st choice. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.
