Located approx. 3 miles off I-80 with good roads. Heavily wooded RV park, heavily wooded sites but clean and well maintained. Met at gate, and escorted to site. Our site was pull thru, gravel/grass, close to level. Most sites have trees on both sides, however we were located on site 36, and able to get limited satellite. Our 40' rig plus tow just fit on the site without unhooking. Wifi was good. There is a camp store, pool, two dog parks and plenty of kids activities. Laundry room is behind office with older machines but good. We were here during the week, so very quiet. Located in a business park area, and a few restaurants located within walking distance. There is a train nearby and can be heard at park. Located close to South Bend, Elkhart and the Michigan border. Assume that is why it's a bit pricey. We stayed one night. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Motorhome.

If you like being in the trees, this is the campsite for you. We were not happy there. Just too many trees and the park was very dark. It was difficult to manuever our 40ft 5th wheel when departing. The Internet was on and off most of the time and when on line, it was extremely slow. The cable was terrible, thank goodness for OTA. Not one site was satellite friendly. Fifth eight dollars a night was a "rip-off." We would not stay there again. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We only pulled in for an overnight stay but the campground is very clean and well maintained. The owners are very friendly and informative. The sites are narrow and some are close to the trees. We couldn't open our awning completely because it hit a pine tree. The4 sites are cramped but do allow for a large rig. You Get a cookie at check in for the kids and they have Bagels and coffee in the office for breakfast. Very nice Campground. We would stay here again. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Enjoy your fresh baked cookie at checkin. Good location for having some RV work completed in nearby Elkhart or Mishiwaka. Be aware for expensive site costs per night when Notre Dame is playing. Sites are very treed so we would not want to come in after dark. You are led into your site and you want to be as the trees are close enough when swinging in. Really no trouble in daylight. The pine trees were losing their pine needles and we did not open our slides because it was too messy. we did blow the needles off the roof before we left. Railroad nearby but it was quiet enough at night. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the RV Museum about 1/2 hour away in Elkhart. It is a time capsule of trailers and motorhomes. Many original units that you can walk into. You can walk to 2 restaurants nearby. Coppercreek Cafe was excellent for breakfast.

The staff is fantastic, the park is clean and I truly felt safe at this campground. We stayed during the week and it was very quiet, but I'm sure that's not always the case, especially on the weekends. Like many other reviews state, the lot sizes are very skinny. They're long, but there's not much wiggle room and that's the main reason this park didn't get a 10 from me. We don't typically camp at these type of campgrounds. We love rustic camping with ample space between us and others. You really have no privacy here at all. I had to keep my blinds shut most of the time in order to get privacy. I would highly recommend widening the sites in the future. I would have loved sitting outside more, but I didn't like sitting right on top of the neighbors. My neighbor said he wouldn't have a fire because the fire ring was so close to our rig that smoke would have rolled right in my windows, which it would have. The trains didn't bother me at all, the tall pines are beautiful and I will likely be back. The price was pretty steep for a weekday, off-season stay, but it's to be expected in these type of parks. In any case, I would stay here again. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Truck Camper.

Big plus is an Italian restaurant within short walking distance: Capri Italian Eatery. We expected pizza or lasagna but got AUTHENTIC Italian cooking. Manger/chef is from Naples, Italy.

Well run park in a very safe area. Lots to do nearby, stores gas etc. The Train is only a block away but did not bother us.But the day camp is very noisy! The spots are tight, and yes the fire rings can be close to your rig, but we were on an end of the row spot which was a good size for KOA.The two night minimum for a long week end can present a problem if you are just passing through. Lots of mature trees, good shade. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Really liked this place a lot. Close to a million stores and Notre Dame is about 5 miles away. Sites are nicely wooded and shaded t0 make even hot days tolerable. Pool & kid facilities are nice. Pad was level gravel and did not seem too tight...though you may have to position your rigs slideouts to avoid bumping into trees. Cable worked well and has all the key stations. Wifi was spotty in the evenings...generally good during the day. Staff super helpful and friendly...nice snack amenities at the office.
Quiet park unless the trains is rumbling through...but that did not bother us inside the coach. We will definitely return. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Motorhome.

Price seems high for this place, as I don't see this as a destination, so to speak . We just use it as a overnight stop over, and if you have kids I guess they would like it due to the swimming pool. Its an OK place, just not somewhere or someplace that I would see us spending time at. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Newbie here. 1st KOA visit so ratings may be skewed for awhile. Clean, nice tall trees, wonderful smell of pine. Check in swift, followed attendant to site, was told to check in after setting up. Good 120 volt power. Two accessible sewer ports at this site.

Train passes "close by," did not bother me. The campsite emptied out on Friday but filled back up Saturday night. Pass thru's have good length, sites quite close together. Excellent cable (50+ channels), WiFi so/so, 4+ bars on Verizon and AT&T. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice staff essential to help us get into narrow treed space. Space level but they are close together. We were able to use all 3 slides. Probably not what I consider big rig friendly since we are 40 ft towing. Good location. Train was NOT a problem for us as earlier reviewers reported. We stayed here for about 6 weeks. Lots of shade found it difficult to setup Satellite TV but after a little work found a spot between trees. All the trees are pine trees so you may get a little sap on your vehicles. Large playground. They make their own fresh pizza and they are good. They have ice cream 50's room where you can get a sundae for $5. My only complaint was some of the site were tight getting my dual slides out. We stayed at several sites on a week to week bases so our site was not reserved so we had to move to different sites for people that already reserved them in advance. It's very difficult to have visitors to visit you. They have to park in a lot next to the office and pay a small fee to come in. The park is trying to keep non-RV folks from using the pool and facilities without paying. There's a gate to drive in and out and you use a pass card to get thru. Site were long and narrow. One site I could not put my patio cover out because there was a tree there. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel on pull through site 23. Full hook ups. Wide, pretty level, sand site with sparse grass patch. Lots of shade from well trimmed trees. Pine needle debris. Room for truck. Site is an end spot with a nice copse on utility side that creates privacy. Clean shower & laundry houses. Good WiFi, At&T cell coverage. Staff blow & rake leaves to keep campground tidy. Small book exchange. Pool, larger than most at KOAs, closed for season. Ping pong, volley & basket ball courts, tether ball, horseshoes, trikes, miniature golf, old exercise equipment. Quiet at night except for occasional nearby train traffic & whistle blowing. Light snacks prepared in office & all day coffee. Walking distance to grocery store, restaurants, banks. Very friendly staff. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

How frustrating! KOA campgrounds have deteriorated so we depend on reviews to sort out the bad ones. Reviewers missed the mark on this park!. The park sits less than a block from VERY busy railroad tracks. It was extremely frustrating. Last night we counted eight whistling trains in a two hour period. This is the noisiest park we have stayed at in ten years of RVing. The sites are too close, the fire pits are either inches from the water/electric hookup or within two feet of your neighbor's Rv. Your picnic table is only a foot from your neighbor's sewer hoses. I do not feel this should be labeled big rig friendly. There are long term RVers here who have no respect for visitors. Our neighbor (long-term showed up at 8 pm and slammed trailer, truck, and storage doors until nearly 11 pm. He was back up at it at 7 am. It didn't stop until 10 am. Yes, the owners are friendly and there are amenities, but these perks don't make up for the noisy environment at a premium price. We were here a week but won't be back. KOAs' days of charging top prices for great experiences are no longer a reality. We camped at South Bend / Elkhart North KOA in a Motorhome.
