Oct 2017 - $30.00
Just stopped here for a quick overnight on our way back home. Lots of seasonals here, but wasn't populated on a cold Monday night. We got escorted back to our pull through, a nice bonus.Place seems decent. - Bob806
Oct 2017 - $31.00
Though park is on the highway, it is large enough and the sites were far enough from the highway to be mostly quiet. Large, flat sites. Lots of lawn to play ball with the dog. Lady running check in very helpful - opened a normally closed, more direct exit for us the next morning so I wouldn't have to maneuver some tight corners getting out. - EnjoyinLife
Aug 2017 - $17.00
Very nice, well maintained park conveniently located just off I-70. 30amp, FHU, pull-through site with an escort to the site. 51 OTA TV signals, good WIFI. About the only thing lacking would be 50 amp service since the weather was hot and we had to be judicious with our power requirements. Regarding other reviewer's comments about the trees, the park became a victim of the "ash borer" which did quite a bit of damage to the trees and many had to be (and are still being) removed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Since the park is next to the highway some folks would probably not care for the noise. We would definitely return if in the area. - Bob & Stephanie

We were seasonal campers at this camp ground for years. It has steadily declined in seasonal campers because the owner increases the rent every year, while not maintaining the grounds or stocking the fishing lake. They spray chemicals in the lake with total disreguard for swimmers using the beach area and anyone fishing. The spraying boat has a huge pump that sprays what appears to be copper sulfate (blue] right where you are trying to fish and blasts the swim area also while swimmers are still in the water (including kids]. On more than one occasion, parents screamed at there kids to get out of the water because of this. This happened on a Sunday. Really? We have since also pulled out permanently after dealing with this nonsense, Could go on and on with other things we have witnessed but will stop with this. The owner seems to only care about the money, and the camp ground reflexs this. - iwashere
May 2017 - $35.00
I checked in after seven. Jim the camp host was very friendly along with everyone I met. I got set up and them walked up to the "store" to pay. Long walk. mix up on my site number, but was handled quickly. I understood the fees as the park is more amusement for family than for an overnighter . Site had been mowed and left the clippings behind, must have been a foot tall before mowing, Jim said they had a lot of rain. - captjer

Pulled in to Modoc & went to the store to check in. Was given a map for our site. Got there about 5 -6 pm. The 1st night set up and just walked around the camp grounds, let the kids play at the play ground. Not sure of our site number, last row near the street. Very noisy from road traffic. Folks seem to haul it down this road. The next morning we ate breakfast & we headed to the pond. Not a lot of folks there as most pulled out that morning. There were about 10-15 folks swimming. Some very young 2-3 years old. My husband and myself were sitting on the beach area watching our grandkids swimming. They were in the pond about a half hour or so when a boat spraying something was on the other side of the pond. We ask a couple that was sitting near us if they were full time here or visiting and if they knew what was being sprayed. They had stated they were full time & had no idea what was being sprayed. There was another couple who was there visiting. They had ask the boat driver what he was spraying. The boat driver ignored him. My husband went over to the boat driver and ask also. He ignored him also. My husband noticed the boat driver was wearing gloves, long shirt and long pants. My husband ask if this stuff he was spraying was hazardous because of him being completely covered while he was spraying. He finally answered and said state regulations. We told our grandkids to GET OUT OF THE WATER IMMEDIATELY. Several others were screaming the same thing. We all went to find the owner and find out what was being sprayed. The owner stated he did not know BUT he would bring us a chemical paper of what was being sprayed. The 1st line read Hazards to humans and domestic animals. DO NOT get on skin clothing in eyes -mouth or inhale. To achieve desired control with herbicide in flowing waters (which this is not), a minimum exposure period of 3 hours should be maintained. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Rec'd a refund of 1/2 our swimming fee and our camp fee for that day. Loaded up and left immediatly. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN. - Loandiva

1st time back in several years, returned due to upgrade of electric hookup to include 50amp. As with most Indiana State Parks, this park is well maintained. Service locations are acceptable, but 50 feet of water hose is needed for shared water faucet between sites. As full timers we carry 100 feet of hose at all times. Our site was easy to level on, others were uneven front to back. - Teacher's Pet

Summit Lake Reprise
We reviewed Summit Lake in 2013, and were not terribly impressed with the park facilities. Our recent visit indicated that things are looking up!
The electrical problem has been remedied; campground 'A' has been completely re-wired with all new boxes and 50a service. The bathrooms are still mediocre, but they've been cleaned up, a fresh coat of paint, and other minor improvements have been made to spruce up the facilities. The showers still need better drainage and they pretty much drain into the hallway floor, but that's an engineering issue, not cleaning.
DNR staff was walking through the campground on Friday and Saturday night, introducing themselves as security, and indicating they'd be on property until 4am. They were personable fellas and it was nice to know that staff was 'minding the store'. In addition, DNR vehicles regularly passed through the campground. We've noticed this trend at other state parks this year, so there might be a new directive in order from the state.
The trails are easy (although described as moderate), the lake has many options for fishing from the bank, and staff shared that resurfacing the interior roads is on the horizon, as well as new gravel at the campsites, and a re-wiring of the electrical in campground 'B'. Seems like they're intent on upgrading this property.
Campground A is mostly level and open, and the sites have shared, fresh water posts (two to a post). We needed 75' of hose to connect, but it's nice to have a fresh water hookup at a state park in Indiana. Campground B is more rolling, and few sites in B would accommodate more than a pop-up or tent.
We are pleased with our recent visit to Summit Lake and will return. - fastalker64
Sep 2015 - $25.00
We had one of the few pull-thru's. The park was well-groomed, the people were friendly, and the lake was clear and beautiful. Fun to ride our bikes! Our site was without shade, but there were other ones available in wooded areas. We would definitely stay there again. - Jeff Jangerous

Jun 2017 - $25.00
Stayed here for work for a couple months so I paid the monthly rate. $650 for full 50 amp hook up. Very helpful staff and very kid friendly in the summer. This is a christian values campground but all they ask is to respect your neighbor and keep the noise down after hours. Had the grandkids come and stay a couple weekends and they had a blast. One of them fell asleep standing up against Grandmas leg he was so tuckered out, lol. Don't quote me on the nightly rate as I never paid that way. Go to their website for current rates. - Tim Cottrill
Oct 2016 - $35.00
Cornerstone is a routine favorite of ours. There are several sizes of lots, some shady, and some sun. Sites near the entrance are 50/30 amp full hookup and tend to have less shade. Sites behind the entrance are 30 amp only with water/electric only. Sites are gravel and most are level. The CG tends to fill up quickly on weekends and holidays, so you want to book in advance. Campground owners are warm and welcoming. They work hard to make camper's stays the best possible.
They do accept Passport America, but this can be hit and miss on pricing. We have gotten this price during the week as I recall. Showers and bathrooms are clean. They do deliver very good pizza to your site which is great with a crew of kids when setting up. The playground "gizmo" is the biggest one I have ever seen. Our kids get lost in it frequently. The pool is very nice when it is open.
The only real drawback is the road noise from I-70. The CG is located across the pond, but the pavement on the interstate there is concrete, and the trucks can be rather noisy.
The CG owners have addressed the flooding issues by tiling many of the camp sites this spring. I haven't been there in a good downpour, but it should help that issue tremendously.
Of all the CG's in East Central Indiana, this is our go-to campground. - scarter4work
Apr 2016 - $45.00
We can concur with some of the comments from before. This campground seems to not have any real set rates. They say they are Passport America, but we have paid $22, $28 and this time $45 for the a 50amp, full hook up site on stops during the past year. The sites are well worth the earlier rates, but way over priced for narrow, sloping gravel pads with all hookups at the rear of the pad. Will opt for one of the other options within 10 miles on future semi annual trips. We were checked in by the owner each time who is very nice and helpful and each time assure the Passport rate was applied. There are 13 or 14, 50 amp full hookup sites, all the other are 30 amp with water only, under heavy tree cover. - Teacher's Pet

Apr 2016 - $40.00
I'm on a seasonal site here at Walnut Ridge. It's about an hour from my house, and my sister and brother in law also come out and camp--our schedules are different enough that we rarely overlap. Therefore, it's perfect for us.
Walnut Ridge the campground pre-dates the RV dealership of the same name. Apparently, once Gary Hart bought the campground way back when, they ended up selling a few campers here and there and the idea for the RV dealership was born. Most people know of the dealership first--it is a very busy place these days. There is a service center as well. If you buy from the dealership, you can spend 2 free days camping at the campground. It's a nice way to become familiar with your new purchase.
I did buy from Walnut Ridge, but I'd no idea at the time where I was going to store it. When I saw the campground and learned I could keep my new TT on a seasonal site for about the same price as paying for yearly storage, I was sold.
I love camping here. Having ready access to my trailer without having to move it is nice. It's a very quiet campground, with lots of friendly people. The grounds are kept very clean and they have lots of activities. There's mini golf, a playground and a very nice pool. The store sells ice cream. WiFi is very good. I love the trees and the birds, though not too fond of the squirrels and their destructive ways.
There are pull-through sites for temporary visitors, which I've used. I can pull my trailer out to go places, and find the roads and paths to be well kept. There aren't any poorly kept sites to be seen.
My sole complaint is the lack of sewer hookup, but I recognize that it's impossible given the hills of the place. They do offer a pump service, but I got my own honeywagon and empty that way. It's not bad. They treat you like family here, and I love it. - drdit92
Apr 2014 - $50.00
This has more seasonal campers in it than anyone else. They have an area set up for people who have bought a new camper from them to stay for 2 nights free. Not sure if you can pick a different area to "camp" in there, but never saw anyone other than seasonal campers in other areas. There isn't any sewer hookup, only water & electric, and its hard to dump your tanks how they have it set up. It's on a hill, on a turn, and its some maneuvering to get it lined up to dump. While you are doing that, the road is pretty much blocked. The 2 days we were there, our sink, & toilet turned brown from the water. TWO DAYS! The campground is clean, is quiet, looks really nice though. If you want to go swimming, it costs $5 a person. I never knew any place that charged to swim if you are camping. I was told by the man in the office that the rates are compatible with all the campgrounds in that area. They aren't. Check for yourself. I would never stay there unless it was an emergency. It's overpriced. - happy2013camper

Stayed here two nights due to weather. Closing on the 14th for the season. Beautifully kept area inside and out. Showers were not new but very clean and well maintained. We appear to be the only ones left here that are not full time. Staff is most helpful and has a wonderful supply of tools if you forgot your saw, etc. I agree that the dump station is a strange spot on the way out. Easy access, cement pads for pull through, friendly, and even they escorted us to our site. I would return. - Cape Cod

Stayed here over a birthday weekend just to get away before the weather gets too bad. The site was long enough and pretty level. The road coming into the campground could use some improvement. It is a long lane with "chips and dust" down. No matter how slow you seemed to go 5-7 MPH is still stirred up a huge dust cloud. As they are winding down the season there was not a lot of the amenities running so I can't comment on those, but the people seemed nice enough. The cable worked OK, didn't use the internet and the sewer and electric were fine. The water pressure seemed to fluctuate however. We would probably stay here again for a getaway weekend. - Godsey97
Oct 2017 - $41.00
Site was level and all utilities worked fine. Traffic noise from I70 was constant and sometimes loud. Road into the CG needs improvement. Former camper left their dog crap in the grass beside my site. It was cleaned up but still smelled and I stepped in it while disconnecting to leave. Typical KOA with things to do for the kids but overpriced. - jnateg

Just an overnight stop on the way home. Be careful coming and going as entrance is tight. Upper pull-thru took some leveling but worked out OK. Check in lady was kind of grouchy. They have a military discount & when I asked I got a hard look & "Can you prove it??"
I don't carry a copy of my DD214 but finally convinced her to take my American Legion membership card after another hard look. Interior roads tight. Won't stay here again. - miller.va
Jun 2017 - $44.00
Campground is mostly seasonal sites but has a couple of pull-throughs for overnighters. Our pull-through site was moderately unlevel front-to-back but good side-to-side. Trees blocked our satellite dish and this is probably the case for all of the campground's sites. Fair Verizon signal. No cable TV. No broadcast TV. Campground was clean and well-maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful. Interior roads were narrow with tight turns but with some care I was able to get through without scraping the sides of our motor home. - arpijay
Jun 2017 - $21.00
Nice family oriented, family owned park nestled amongst the trees with plenty of space between sites. Quiet, well maintained, and super nice owners. Sites gravel and grass, mostly level. Road noise minimal. Amenities include pool, playground, micro-golf, dog run, pavilion, book exchange, and gift store. Didn't use bathrooms or showers or laundry. Local area brochures on display near office. Made reservation for one week, ended up staying for almost three. Close to historic downtown Richmond. Firehouse BBQ and Blues is a good place to stop in, across from the Model T Museum. - BandTGe

We stayed fairly close to comfort station, and found it a busy traffic site. Well shaded, and good water, trash removal, had picnic tables and campfires are allowed. Most sites are pretty well graveled and reasonably easy to level a camper. They have added water view cabins, and most of the park provides for easy fishing access, and water view.
Friendly staff, well security patrolled. Really need to improve the sewer dump station. It would really make it a better park, if they installed sewer connections and upgraded the restroom and shower facilities. - Jacobsen
Jul 2010 - $25.00
Stayed here due to the close proximity to the Muncie 70.3 race. Mostly seasonal campers. The daily RV sites have only a 30 amp outlet and water hookup. They are generally narrow, unlevel and scattered with trash. Can't figure why folks don't pick up after themselves because there are large trash cans every couple sites. The grass isn't mowed often. They have primitive tent site closer to the one bathroom/shower. Although the bathroom is old it was fairly clean. The staff is friendly and helpful although they allowed another RV to take the site I'd reserved because they were staying longer and they said our 40ft would fit on a site that was made for a 20ft. This isn't a place you would come to "camp" but if you're coming to race or boat/fish it fits the bill for an overnight or two. - cpahog

Oct 2017 - $30.00
We stayed here for three nights while visiting the Dayton, OH area to see the Wright Brother's history. The park consists of predominately seasonal residents. We arrived on a Thursday night and were escorted to a pull thru site parallel to IN 227. Quite a bit of traffic all day, but it slowed at night. By Friday the park filled up with the permanent residents and they parked where ever they could around their sites. We were planning to leave early Sunday morning, but had to wait until full light, so we could navigate around the parked cars. The place was okay for the three nights we stayed. The pull thrus seemed to be reserved for transients. Some people pulled their campers in backwards due to the way the lots were set up for the grass and fire pits. One thing that concerned us were these trees everywhere that were either buckeyes or horse chestnuts whose fruit kept falling and made a loud bang when it hit someone's camper. Luckily we were not under any of these trees. I walked my dogs each morning. I had to be careful of the fallen nuts, but the park was level enough. There's a nice creek in the back of the park too. Overall it was an okay place to stay for hour purposes. - SillyAnn
Jun 2017 - $30.00
We have stayed at Grandpa's farm many times and each time it has been wonderful. This is a private park with some permanent residents, but you never feel like an outsider. The owners are always on site and working hard to make your stay perfect. It is a great place to relax and unwind. I know several folks have commented about the noise if you are by the road, but I have not experienced a problem with noise. Usually the AC is running and you don't notice anything. Had one brief low voltage situation, but it lasted less than 15 seconds. My power conditioner shut things down until the power came back up. Facilities are neat and clean and you always feel welcomed. - BuckeyeTravels

Great spot for an overnight. Very friendly owner. Well taken care of grounds. Lots of open spaces and many shaded with large walnut trees. Good gravel interior roads. Most sites are grass. Jun 2013 - $28.00
For an overnight stay, this small campground was excellent. It was very quiet, our site was level, we had full hook-ups with 50 Amp, sewer, and water. It's in the Passport America book so we only paid $14. The manager, Leon, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. He has three friendly Corgi dogs that love to play and beg. This campground is not listed in the Trailer Life Directory so we're glad we found it in Passport America. It would be easy to overlook it. The campground is less than a mile off I - 70 on the Indiana/Ohio line. You use the last exit in Indiana ( #156), but the road (US 40) takes you back into Ohio. - rvrose
