GPS took us miles out of our way. There are only 3 pullthroughs..and that loop was closed off. Sites were uneven, and short in the loop left open. Water and Electric in Dec. Okay for an overnight stay, as the park is quiet...but is not that easily accessible. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed one night while passing through the area. Didn't unhitch. The pads were excellent, level, clean and spacious. There were lots of trees and greenways. I would stay here multiple days if visiting the area. If it had water and sewer it would be a 10-star. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice, long, wide and shady spot. Bathrooms were clean. Too many vehicles driving over the speed limit. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Here is everything you need to know about Potato Creek! We stayed in a tent for 5 nights and did just about everything we could. Bike trails are wonderful! The paved one is a wonderful downhill ride that takes you from the beach clear out to the main gate if you keep going. The mountain bike trails are well maintained and very fun; slightly narrow. The walking trails are also well maintained and there's many to choose from. The beach is very nice with a volleyball net and a great view of Worster lake. The seaweed is cleaned up to the ropes but many people swam out past it with no problem. The bathrooms are clean, well stocked with toilet paper, showers have hot water as well as shelves and curtains. They are also conveniently located. The general store is well stocked from air mattresses to ice cream. We even found Velveeta cheese for mac n cheese when ours melted!! You pay $7 at the main gate to get in and follow the signs wherever you may be headed. This is the only in-park fee you must pay. All trails, docks, launches, etc are included in the $7. (our vehicle was LOADED with bikes, kayaks, and tons inside and we didn't get checked once for anyone wondering although rangers do ride around consistently). Bike rentals are $20 a day but require a photo ID or $50 deposit. Kayak/canoe rentals are $10/2hr. We had no luck fishing nor had anyone else that we talked to so if you're looking to fish, good luck. They will jump but none were biting. We tried different piers, times of day, kayaking different spots, no luck. Campsites are located directly next to each other but are fairly large and everyone keeps to themselves. Electric powers plenty of things at each site, including an A/C unit we had in our tent! They also have a separate campground and set of trails for horse lovers who want to bring their furry friends! All in all it was the perfect adventure for our vacation and even with hundreds of people around, we felt alone a lot and got lost plenty of times! I definitely recommend the paved bike trail, the beach, and the walking trails up to steam boat hill! We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Tent.

Overall Rating:

Nightly rate does not include the $9 entry fee (one time fee) for out of state residents. The $9 fee applies only to motorhome if towed car is hooked up; otherwise you have to pay for both vehicles. Sites are 30 amp electric only. Site 74 is spacious, gravel/grass mix and level, but many sites have a slight grade. Verizon cell/MiFi reception was good. Good satellite television reception at our site. Trees may block reception at many sites. We stayed for five nights to visit family in South Bend and will stay again. There are low hanging branches along the entrance road and the campground road. The campground is popular on summer weekends and a reservation is probably needed. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Wonderful state park with very friendly staff who keep the campground spotless. Bathrooms were constantly being cleaned, even when they didn't need it! Nice lake (Worster) for swimming and fishing (although we have never caught much here). They have Osprey that inhabit the lake area and are a pleasure to watch. Decent easy hiking in the park and during the summer months there are programs at the Nature Center which are interesting and well-thought-out. It's a bit of drive for us to get here (we live in Chicago and the drive to Indiana always stinks) but it's worth it. We'd definitely stay again. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not far from South Bend for shopping, restaurants etc. There's a camp store for wood, trinkets, and some staple foods like eggs, milk, bread etc. The store also rents bicycles as there's a nice paved bike trail that runs through the park.

Only 2 of the 5 loops were open this early in the season, but most of the sites were taken on this beautiful weekend. Site 16 was large and mostly flat, with a level gravel pad and power close by, but no shade trees. Only a short walk 2 sites away from the shower house which was well maintained. Campground host was friendly. Camp store was cash only due to connectivity issues. Paved bike trail was great! We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate does not include $9 park entry fee for non residents Beautiful park. Sites well spaced in some loops, closer in others. Lots of places to explore in the park by a network of well marked walking and bicycling trails(both paved and mountain bike) A bit of a drive to get out of the campground to explore other attractions in the area. Mosquitoes were bad. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It is early in the Indiana camping season so no reservations needed. Only 2 of the 5 camping loops were open, which was sufficient for the number of campers this weekend. Constant rain kept us in the rig for most of Saturday, but we still managed a long 4 mile hike and a campfire Friday night. Camp store was well stocked and staff was very helpful at the store and check in gates. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Our first camping trip of the season is always to Potato Creek State Park. The bath house was open and operational with piping hot water and an actual turning handle. They removed the actual bench in the stall and put up a tiny shelf and two towel hooks. We had great sites right next to the large playground and had a wide open area for us and the kids to stretch out, play baseball, ladderball, and football. The park is meticulously maintained and they have great paved bike trails. They also have a nice small beach. We camped at Potato Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.
