This is the first time in 9 years using RV Park Reviews that I have felt misled by a campground rating. This place deserves a Below Average rating. I don't care that it's mostly mobile homes. But it's noisy, run-down, and poorly laid out (we couldn't even use the first site they sent us to because with our tires on the two narrow strips of broken concrete that serve as a pad we couldn't put our slide out without hitting the electric pedestal). Roads are torn up and so crowded and narrow it was challenging to get in and out. Tracks run right next to the park and trains blare their horns all night. I should have given up after being unable to reach the office, leaving multiple messages to make a reservation, and not having them returned. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other options. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A lot of new things are happening here. Many of the older trailers are being removed or moved to the back. Their plan is to make the front an RV park and the mobile home park in the back. Word is getting around so reserve your space now. The sites are level, power and water pressure are good. Issues with parking are being resolved. There is a newly remodeled laundry within walking distance along with a small general store. This was our 3rd year here. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Mobile home park with lots available for RVs. Some of the homes were a bit run down, but overall most were kept clean. Residents and staff were all friendly and helpful. It is a short drive to West Beach for some hiking or fun in the sun. There is easy access to the highways nearby for driving into Chicago. Park was quiet, safe and reasonably priced. We have lots of family in the surrounding areas and will absolutely stay here again when we visit. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

This is mostly a mobile home park with sites in between units. We stayed there to be near Chicago area. Management very nice, has a small grocery store and a very nice laundermat that you can use or they will wash for you. Again very helpful if you have any questions or need assistance in parking. Would stay there again. We have class A motor home towing Jeep Wrangler. All sites are back in. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

This is a mobile home park. It has paved roads, concrete level spaces, concrete pad, no picnic table or fire ring. Very quiet and the staff is the most helpful of any place we have been. A lot of run down mobile homes, but the people living there are very respectful. Our 3rd year there and we will visit again. The rate was a weekly one with additional electric included. There is a train close by, but it is not very noticible. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Our rate of $104.00 plus metered electric of $25.00 was based on a their weekly rate for a total weekly cost of $129.00.
This is an older well shaded mobile home park, that is reasonably well kept, and was safe and secure for us.They have several sites set aside for RV sites mixed in with existing mobile homes. We have been there twice now, and have enjoyed our stay, with all neighbors being very friendly.
This is probably the best location for access to Chicago, as the South Shore Ogden Dunes station is just 3 miles away. Cost to downtown Chicago is $8.00 each way, and 1 hour 10 minutes train time, and very inexpensive.
We have a small dog, and the office assisted us finding a pet sitter while we traveled to Chicago all day.
This is a nice safe place to stay while in the Chicago area. We drove through Jellystone Park, just down the road, and kept on driving, overjoyed to find this unknown secret! We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Simple overnight stay. Arrived late but evening superintendent waited for us and took us directly to a reasonable site. Offered to help with hook-ups etc. They only have 50A service and he offered to get an adapter but I said I could just use the 110 as I didn't want to dig out my adapter. Just wanted to get to bed. Site was level on concrete pad. Would not be my first choice in the area but my normal "Quick Nite stay" in La Porte was full. Would stay again if just needed place to stay.

Would suggest that large trailers or Class=A motorhomes not stay as streets were narrow. It was OK for out 25' Class-C.

Might be reasonable if you were going to Chicago and could take Metro from Gary station 7 mi away. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

This is our second time here. We stayed for a week last year, this year we stayed for 3 weeks. The rate reflects a weekly rate and electric is .15 per kwh. We love this place. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. There is a laundry mat next door and a small market too. This is a mobile home park with a few RV spaces. It is the most relaxing and quiet place we have visited, and we camp 6 months of the year, with in 6 different states. The spaces are grass with cement lanes for the rv tires and a cement pad for personal use. All the sites are very level. All the streets are paved and riding bikes is safe and easy. Each unit has their own garbage can, no walking to the other end of the campground for the dumpster. We had mature shade trees in our section, so TV reception with the antenna was just not there. They also have a new dog park. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here three nights because this was the most convenient park to visit downtown Chicago. It's a mobile home park whose units have been here a long time. There are a handful of RV sites with full hookups with 50 amp. The sites are level with paved strips for your tires and a concrete patio. All else is grass. No cable, wi fi, restrooms or any other amenities. There is a convenience store and laundromat in the strip of stores in front of the park. Park personnel were very helpful in guiding us to our site, helping hook up, and providing area information. Biggest drawback is the high volume of train traffic running right alongside the park. Also, watch out for the unmarked speed bumps. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The South Shore commuter train station is about three miles from the park and will get you to downtown Chicago in an hour and fifteen minutes. The office at the park will provide you with a schedule and map to the station. There is a Bass Pro Shops store about two miles away; we had a nice dinner at their restaurant.

Quiet park that is mainly for mobile homes with spots for RV's. Level, shady sights, clean laundry facility and convenience store within walking distance. Residence are quiet and keep to themselves. As mentioned in another review, the trains are a bit loud, but after a few days we got used to them. The rate reflects a weekly rate and they charge additional for electric at $.15 per kwh. Friendly owners on site, and even helped with hook up. We will come again. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Ok, first the good. This is an older, well kept mobile home park that has several spots set aside for RV's. Owners and staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful people. We had a 50 amp full hook up for 5 nights. No cable, but point your digital antenna toward Chicago and we were able to pick up a whopping 46 stations! Sites are heavily shaded and wide. There aren't any clubhouses, pools or the like, so if you need a nice spot to locate to visit and tour Chicago, this is the place. The park is only 3 miles from the South Shore commuter train Portage/Ogden Dunes station, and the Senior fare to downtown Chicago is $3.50. Now the bad. The park is located right on Route 20, a little noisy, and on the rear boundary of the park are train tracks that have Many freight trains coming and going 24/7. Noise level is pretty high, but if you can deal with this, its a great place for Chicago access. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice quiet very very well kept park. If you have a dog there is a large well mowed grass field near the rear of park for exercise. The staff here is more than accommodating , ie, taking you to your site, and even helping you hook up! Yes, there are permanent mobile homes with families and some contractor transients, but seem to keep to themselves. My only complaint is the trains that run close to the park that seem to come every few minutes day and night. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park and good location to Chicago area. Easy access off of Highway 94. This is a mobile home park with large lots for campers/RVs. Fifty amp service on all lots and good shade on most lots. Roads are paved and in OK condition. The area felt safe and the people were extremely friendly. Pricing was $20 with no electric/$30 with electric and lower rates for longer stays. I believe they are open all year round. Well staffed. I would return to this park if passing through again. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Broken pavement interior roads. This is a mobile home park with many transient renters. They have about 5 open sites that can accept RVs. To access these sites one must go up on a 6" curb and over a sidewalk to a concrete pad. Electricity was very good. Many trees for shaded sites. Many local TV channels. Great location for using train into Chicago, just 4 miles by car with free parking then 41 miles by train at $7.25. Front desk person was very accommodating and had someone help us to our site. I don't think there were any bathrooms. but they did have laundry facilities and a store We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Woodland Village is a mobile home park that has many padded RV lots available as well with 30 & 50 amp service. The park is very clean and is located off of U.S. Hwy 20 just south of 80/94 and 249 for easy access. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.
