I really liked this park. We arrived midafternoon for an overnight. Our site overlooked a pond and was clean. About two/three minutes from Interstate 70. As others said, the road in was a bit old, but our 28 foot class c had no issue. We didn't encounter any low hanging tree branches that got in the way of our rv. Wifi was okay, not great. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.

The sites are very close to rigs and vehicles and roads which made it very difficult in maneuvering the turns of the roads. The campsites and parked trucks caused us to hit low tree branches causing significant damage to our 45ft RV. This KOA is not for big rigs. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.

Amazing. We were only able to stay one night, but would have loved to stay longer. The site we were located at overlooked the pond. We paddle boated and fished at the pond. The playground was well appointed with a lot for the little ones to do. We did not use the swimming pool, but others were certainly enjoying it. Our site had a very nice concrete patio, fire ring, and umbrella covered table and chairs. Very relaxing a beautifully landscaped. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a nicely kept KOA. I have to agree with previous posts that the roads leading to the campground could be better. Our "just washed" tow turned from black to grey from the gravel dust. They only had a water and electric site available but since we were just overnight it was not a problem. We did not use swimming pool but it was being cleaned when we pulled out and looked nice. As we checked in an employee was trimming plants around the office and the entire grounds were well kept. We were in spot 52 facing the pond and did not notice any noise from interstate. We were also near the small but adequate dog park which was enjoyed by our two small dogs. There were a couple of dog feces left by inconsiderate slobs. Why can't people pick up after their dogs?!!!!!! There were several tent and and cabin campers here and this KOA seemed to have plenty of amenities to make everyone happy. Did not use bathrooms or laundry so cannot comment on those facilities. We would stay here again. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.

The campground is right on I-70, so you will hear the traffic noise. Gravel roads inside small campground. There are pull-through, back-in, full hook up sites. Also tent & cabins. Our site was a pull-through, gravel with grass between. A fire ring & picnic table. Neighbors close by but could put awnings out. We couldn't fit our truck so it was either parked perpendicular or in an empty spot. Cable, wifi (good), Verizon 4g. Would be shaded in the summer. Pool, playground, pond, mini golf, dog run & walk areas. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here over a birthday weekend just to get away before the weather gets too bad. The site was long enough and pretty level. The road coming into the campground could use some improvement. It is a long lane with "chips and dust" down. No matter how slow you seemed to go 5-7 MPH is still stirred up a huge dust cloud. As they are winding down the season there was not a lot of the amenities running so I can't comment on those, but the people seemed nice enough. The cable worked OK, didn't use the internet and the sewer and electric were fine. The water pressure seemed to fluctuate however. We would probably stay here again for a getaway weekend. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take your bikes and go get on the "Cardinal Greenway" it is an excellent gem. 65+ miles of paved bike/walk path. Well maintained and facilities along the way. We did 10 miles on it (5 out and back) and were impressed.

Site was level and all utilities worked fine. Traffic noise from I70 was constant and sometimes loud. Road into the CG needs improvement. Former camper left their dog crap in the grass beside my site. It was cleaned up but still smelled and I stepped in it while disconnecting to leave. Typical KOA with things to do for the kids but overpriced. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Travel Trailer.

At check in I felt interrogated as to why I wanted to stay at the property etc and asked too many personal questions. Had a reservation. Usually we pull a camper but had a cabin this time, felt it would be more comfortable than a hotel room. Don't appreciate office staff grilling us to stay on their property. Place was nice enough. Cabin lacked several kitchen items making dinner preparation a little challenging. (measuring cups and spoons, dish towel, etc.) Road noise was the worst we ever experienced, truly loud all night long! Had to keep cabin windows closed because of this. Rough and narrow road on the way in. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Cabin.

We were on our way home from a lengthy vacation and needed one night stay to get us home. Called as we were getting gas and they happily had room for 2 units. As it turned out, we were just a couple miles away, so no reservations and we were there in minutes. Checking in was quick and efficient as we are KOA members. Owners are super nice. It was dark and the escort to the site is always appreciated. We had a very nice site by the lake (didn't know that until daylight). We did not hear any road noise from the interstate even though the campground was very close to it. That was a convenience to us as we were just passing through. We would stay here again when traveling. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

First, the guy in the office was nice and very helpful. That said, this campground was disappointing based on other reviews I read. We were looking for a weekend getaway trip close to home and really thought this would work. We camped in a 37' MH. Campground roads were pretty narrow. Unfortunately some campers parked their vehicles right up to the road which made our exit Sunday morning quite precarious and needed another camper to make sure I was clear on both sides. Many pull-thru sites but few were level. Saw some RV's with wheels on blocks and one guy actually had his front wheels a few inches off the ground. Ours was somewhat level only if the back of the RV was right on the edge of the road as the site had an upward grade to it. Sites were pretty close together all gravel. Some had concrete patios - ours did not and was muddy. As pointed out before this campground is right on I-70. Contrary to what others have said, there is A LOT of road noise, which was irritating at night when trying to sleep. I was looking forward to the fishing pond but the water was very muddy at the time so I opted not to get out the fly rod. Not a campground on our shortlist to return to. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.

Park is well maintained by the owner which is always on site. Close to I-70 but road noise not an issue. We had a full hook up site which was very level. The Wi-Fi and cable worked very well. Lots of trees so sat TV, not an option. The owner and staff are very friendly. We stayed for 5 days to visit family in the area. We will stay next time we are in the area. We camped at Richmond KOA in a Motorhome.
