We stayed one night each way going to and returning from Minnesota. The park served our purpose. Site was fairly level as we didn't unhitch since we were leaving early the next day. The office staff were very friendly. No wifi at the sites. Was able to pick up a few channels on satellite. Would stay here again if in the area. - kimandcindy

The pros- This is a nice park for family tent camping weekends or overnight stays with quick access from Interstate 65. Lake with toys and a little beach and playground for kids. Lots of trees, very shady and quiet during the week. The cons- Sites are sand, hard to level. Park website states they have WiFi. It's true, but only in the camp office/store. No WiFi provided to the park. Park office/store hours were unpredictable. Went at 10:00am and 5:30pm on weekdays to find it closed. Laundry room was very dirty and didn't appear to have been swept or mopped in ages. Trees along roads need to be trimmed for safe big rig access. - BShirlz

We spent the last month (Sep 2015) traveling with our 5th wheel over 11 states. One of the most enjoyable campground we encountered was the Oak Lake Family Campground. Oak Lake is located in the Northwest corner of Indiana. It is a large plot of land, lots of trees, quiet as its removed from a major highway (I-65) by several miles and very children friendly
GENERAL: The owners are exceptional hosts. We arrived near the end of Sept at the start of a weekend. The hosts had the arrival area and the camp store decorated in a Halloween theme. Kids were dressed in their Halloween finery and in evening hours were trick-or-treating in the campground. The hosts had more Halloween festivities in the later evening hours and everyone was having a fantastic time
The campground is inspected daily by the staff. They pickup litter that's been carelessly discarded and walk the entire grounds doing it. The staff also has a yard-vacuum pulled by a pickup truck they use to pickup rocks, sticks, leaves and other debris
There is a peaceful lake, park style climbing structures, swings and other child use items
SITES: The sites are grass and gravel but solid and level. They have sites for rigs like ours, tent sites, pop-ups, travel trailers and cabin rentals. When we backed our RV into the assigned site, we didn't have to fiddle around with leveling blocks under this or that wheel, or that sort of thing, very nice
AMENITIES: TV signals are received "off-the-air" with an antenna and stations populated from Chicago and South Bend/Mishawaka; they were very clear and sharp. Hook-ups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric) readily available. A public bathhouse that is well maintained and cleaned daily. There is a WIFI hotspot that appears to cover the grounds. Didn't have any problems using it. - JD Delancy

Our site was strewn with garbage to the point that it resembled an inner city vacant lot. One of the wooden beams from the fence around the site was scorched and sitting in the grass nearby. The closest bathroom, in the gameroom, was a mess, the toilet clogged and filthy, despite the presence of a young employee sitting a few feet away watching a DVD. The seasonal residents who appear to make up the overwhelming majority of the customers constantly ride by in golf carts. While I was sitting there pondering whether to spend a half-hour cleaning up the trash on the site, a cart loaded with about six unsupervised youths nearly crashed down the path right next to the site. At that point I had seen enough. One of the greatest joys of my just-finished vacation was putting this dump in my rear-view mirror. I only wish there had been a review on this site to steer me away beforehand. Consider yourself warned: This is not a good campground. - Family of four

It's an OK place if you are looking for a stop with full hooks ups for an RV, but not really a place for "getting away" since its basically s loop nestled in some woods between a christian ministry and the village outskirts of Cedar Lake. Pads here are all gravel. Our spot was a tad on the uneven side so we had to shim up our wheels on one side to get near level. Power boxes for site had 1 each 30, 50 amp outlet in addition to a conventional 112v GFCI outlet. Fire ring was somewhat of a disappointment -- essentially a small rusty sheet metal steel ring fairly far back on the site behind where the trailer would sit, with a few shards of what was likely a grill rack at one time, long since eroded away. Not ideally located at all. Generally it was a quiet place during our stay with the exception of An Amtrak line that runs just to the west 200 yards away, so trains would occasionally break the quiet. The lakefront is a short walk away (maybe about 5 to 6 blocks worth of walking). The lakefront area you can access is part of the Ministry, so depending on when you decide to go to the lake, there maybe some groups nearby participating in activities for the Ministry. You can gain access to the lake for swimming there, but "modest" swimsuits are required. We didn't see anyone policing this, but be aware that traipsing around in a thong might get you some unwanted attention. You've been warned guys! ;-). Like we said, its OK place to lay over on your travels. - Wildboar Dan

This place is a hidden gem! The staff is the nicest we have ever encountered. We made somewhat last minute reservations as we unexpectedly needed to stay the entire summer. They went out of their way to accommodate us with a minimum of movement - even after extending for two extra weeks. Very reasonably priced (stated price was based on monthly rates - and INCLUDES electricity). Sites are back-in and roomy. Larger sites allow for toad parking on site while smaller sites have a spot right across the access road. Well laid out for the space. Some power only sites and some full hook-up. Power was good and clean and the Wifi was the absolute best we have ever experienced in an RV park. It was a little shaky when the weekend warriors were here, but M-F it was outstanding. The bathroom/shower building is nice and kept clean. What's keeping our rating from being a "10" is the water. It's pretty gross. If you can fill up with good water prior to arrival, I would recommend that. For three months, we had no choice but to suffer through smelly showers. Other than that, we couldn't be happier. - Julie and Ray

The site was a level but because of the tree I had to position the RV just right in order to get the satellite to work. The site is in a quite area with plenty of bunnies. The folks who live in the homes on the grounds were very friendly. The folks that maintained the grounds were very careful around water, sewer and electric connections. Had two surprises, One is the placement of the water connection which was on the opposite side of the other connections. I had to buy an additional 25 foot hose to connect. So watch out for electric and water connections. My electric used up all the line I had but it made it. The other surprise is the railroad near by which would blow its whistle several times in the morning hours. Yes around 2:30am. - Peter G

We camped here for 5 months-work related. It was during the spring/summer months and the park was clean and well-kept. It is located in the country on large acreage, and as such, the road on the property leading up to the office is gravel, as are the campsites. It is a lovely setting with large shade trees, lots of green grass, and a large lake. Both the lady who manages the park and her son are nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return when in the area. - rollngstonz

We decided to give this campground a try for its location. Despite all of the outdated reviews we gave it a try. I'm glad we did. We had no issues. It was quiet, relaxing, and exactly what we needed. - AdventureIsMyMiddleName
May 2013 - $35.00
While the setting for this campground is excellent, the execution is just shy of horrible! The only reason we stayed at this park was its proximity to family and friends. I would never do so again. Go across the border to Indiana, do not come here! The bathrooms are all but unusable, and my wife has refused to use the shower in the ladies room. I didn't think the previous reviews could be true, but believe them. - Phil_S

This was a nice, out of the way park for an overnight stay. The lady working the office was very nice and helpful. - RJ56
