18 Parks near South Bend, Indiana
Jul 2013 - $35.00
St. Joseph County Fairgrounds has approximately 30 RV sites available on their property for rent out when there is no large event scheduled at the fairgrounds. The sites are grass with a fair amount of spacing in between sites. The electric and water pressure were fine. My Verizon cell and MiFi worked fine. I could not get a satellite signal because of a tree. Some sites have some shade. The location is convenient to South Bend and Elkhart. With so few choices for campgrounds in the area this wasn't too bad. We would stay here again. - Tiffinatic

The grass was high and there were some muddy places. The lady stated that it had rained every day. When I came back from South Bend the 2nd day the grass had been cut. They had also filled and leveled some of the sites so they are working on the campground.
Quite a few workers that leave early in the AM.
Free wifi worked pretty good. - mrracechaser
Aug 2016 - $17.00
We stayed there both going to and coming from the Forest River Rally. It was one of the best stops we've been to. The owners were great. And they added more new picnic tables from our first stop. On our way home, however, the mosquitoes almost carried off our motorhome due to the rain they had. We will definitely stay again next year. - 1dinky
Aug 2016 - $18.00
New owners have really cleaned up this park. The E&W sites are all grass with some trees. The park is old and the sewer system is very limited. In talking with the owner, there are plans to expand it. Friday evenings there is a large campfire and sometimes s'mores. Owners are very friendly. The store is open a few hours each day. We will stay here again when in the area. - geode
Sep 2016 - $28.00
Nightly rate does not include the $9 entry fee (one time fee) for out of state residents. The $9 fee applies only to motorhome if towed car is hooked up; otherwise you have to pay for both vehicles. Site 75 is spacious, gravel/grass mix and mostly level, but many sites have a slight grade. Verizon cell/MiFi reception was generally okay, but sometimes faded out. Good satellite television reception at our site. Trees may block reception at many sites. We stayed for twelve nights to visit family in South Bend and will stay again. Mosquitoes were heavy this year. There are low hanging branches along the entrance road and the campground road. The campground is popular on summer weekends and a reservation is probably needed. - Dave51
Aug 2016 - $29.00
Rate does not include $9 park entry fee for non residents Beautiful park. Sites well spaced in some loops, closer in others. Lots of places to explore in the park by a network of well marked walking and bicycling trails(both paved and mountain bike) A bit of a drive to get out of the campground to explore other attractions in the area. Mosquitoes were bad. - Darleen
Jul 2016 - $23.00
Hard to get in this park on the weekends but during the week its very quiet. The park has a nice swimming beach . canoe, row , paddle and kayak rentals, Bike and walking trails. Very spacious on most of the sites , roads are all paved. - Steph and Jim
Oct 2016 - $42.00
Enjoy your fresh baked cookie at checkin. Good location for having some RV work completed in nearby Elkhart or Mishiwaka. Be aware for expensive site costs per night when Notre Dame is playing. Sites are very treed so we would not want to come in after dark. You are led into your site and you want to be as the trees are close enough when swinging in. Really no trouble in daylight. The pine trees were losing their pine needles and we did not open our slides because it was too messy. we did blow the needles off the roof before we left. Railroad nearby but it was quiet enough at night. - lcoverosey
Sep 2016 - $50.00
We stayed only one night, but campground looked good. Lots of trees, which we like. Didn't use wifi; so can't comment on it. We will be back! - BShearer
Sep 2016 - $48.00
The staff is fantastic, the park is clean and I truly felt safe at this campground. We stayed during the week and it was very quiet, but I'm sure that's not always the case, especially on the weekends. Like many other reviews state, the lot sizes are very skinny. They're long, but there's not much wiggle room and that's the main reason this park didn't get a 10 from me. We don't typically camp at these type of campgrounds. We love rustic camping with ample space between us and others. You really have no privacy here at all. I had to keep my blinds shut most of the time in order to get privacy. I would highly recommend widening the sites in the future. I would have loved sitting outside more, but I didn't like sitting right on top of the neighbors. My neighbor said he wouldn't have a fire because the fire ring was so close to our rig that smoke would have rolled right in my windows, which it would have. The trains didn't bother me at all, the tall pines are beautiful and I will likely be back. The price was pretty steep for a weekday, off-season stay, but it's to be expected in these type of parks. In any case, I would stay here again. - Erika Rene
Oct 2016 - $35.00
Stayed with friends, older campground, a little rough around the edges, could use updating. Near town and South Bend Indiana. Other than that a nice campground. - User2262
Jul 2016 - $41.00
Stayed here, six of us, and found it expensive. $246.00 for the six days we were here because they charge extra per person above original price. So, for a mom and dad, they then charged extra for each of our four kids. Unfair pricing. Especially when the bathrooms are small and only kinda cleaned, showers with tiny stalls and lame pressure, and very small sites, most of them in the blaring sun. It does have nice fishing ponds and a quaint playground but even that is spoiled by a persnickety, nosy old man owner on a golf cart scolding campers for having a bicycle "across the line and into the next lot". The next lot, empty! Also, he is riding around staring at us on our site, looking for infractions "against the regulations". If not him, another man, the groundskeeper, on his golf cart, haranguing the kids at every turn. Not fun, and not welcoming to kids, I feel they really only want the fancy motor homes and people who never step foot out of their air conditioned, TV, Not Camping outfits. Skip it here and try the state parks, more fun. Less nagging. - 7ofUS
Jul 2016 - $36.00
This park is good for an overnight stay, the pull through sites are a little tight and you may need double length hoses. Lots of young families and a big play ground for them. It is a little off the beaten path for a over night from the highway. - acadiandave
Sep 2013 - $1.00
Made an appointment to have my RV worked on and was told that the campground is closed. The property owner has sold it off. They have a parking lot that can be used by people with an appointment but they no longer have a campground. - BobWW
Jul 2013 - $1.00
We stayed at their campground for 20 nights while they were doing repair work on the motorhome, at no cost. It was a great location to see Elkhart and the surrounding area. And if you are looking for motorhome repair work, they are very helpful and did a great job. The facility is just an asphalt lot, but it has everything you need to be comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. - Sally Chew
Jul 2012 - $25.00
We were looking for a site as close to I90 as possible and saw this place on RVReview. Because it was the day before the 4th of July there was no one in the office to pay, so I called their emergency number and was told welcome and just put a check under the door. Just a gravel parking lot with level pull throughs and good 50amp electric. Would say there again for a stop over. - rhianna
Aug 2016 - $32.00
Looks from the outside are deceiving. Our first camp site was way in the back of park on a muddy VERY SMALL lot. Asked to be moved to a other lot, no problem. Ordered firewood from them that was so wet it wouldn't light. Tried hooking up TV but we needed a more powerful antenna. No restrooms or showers.
The name "mini" is exactly what you'll get.
Staff was very accommodating, but WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! - Cookie hunnicutt
Aug 2016 - $32.00
Since our visit last year, the place is under new ownership and new management. We did notice one improvement, the pot holes in the gravel roads have been fixed. Another camper said the pool area also had improvement, but we didn't go to the pool area. The noise level has increased ten-fold. Even management ignores the 11pm quiet hour. While we were there they were catering to a lot of construction type workers that come and go at all hours, driving loud motorcycles. Still only one bath/shower/laundry facility for an 80 acre park. Only 2 washers and 2 dryers. We will not return to this park again. - esta34950
Sep 2015 - $30.00
We stayed here while visiting family in the area. The park is easy to enter from Hwy 2. Owners and staff are helpful and friendly. The park itself is full of long term units many of which are quite run down. Trees are badly in need of trimming to allow passing under without contact. We were led to our site, ME-17, down a very rough, pot holed road and backed in on some gravel, mostly grass. It was quiet. Rain was predicted the second night and we planned to leave very early so asked to be moved up the hill and in to a pull through which they were able to accommodate. While at one time this was probably a very nice park it is in need of some major updating and maintenance. Except for the fact there are few options, we would not stay here again. We stayed in a motorhome. - prius10
Aug 2015 - $28.00
Let me start off by saying these were very nice people but nice did outweigh the trashy park this was. Grass was not mowed which led to so many bugs that we couldn't even sit outside. The hookups were hidden behind tall tall grass. The bathrooms were atrocious. Just think of the worst bathroom you've ever been in and double that. We paid for 2 nights but stayed 1 & went back home next day. I'm not sure how they can possibly call this "resort" camping. Lake of the Woods was across the street so with a LOT of money this place could be nice. Would never come back. - Tami Strz
Aug 2013 - $28.00
Our kids and us camped here in a MH and 2 TT's. This is over 90% perm sites and most of what is on their website is not available. We booked FHU's and paid for them only to find all we had was EW and sewer service was available. There is a beach on a nice lake. Bathroom/showers were in a shed and was filthy. A toilet was missing, paper all over and garbage in the showers. No designated fire rings, so sites were a mess. Some tender loving care and this would be nice. - cfamrace49
Sep 2016 - $30.00
,We stayed here before during and after Labor Day weekend.
Grounds were in Great condition.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. There were lots of planned activities for young and older.
Our section was Open field without trees in sites but the area was surrounded by trees and crop field. Another section where sites were a bit smaller had plenty of shade.
Lots of extra activities, including a driving range, Mini-golf, swimming pond, fishing pond, play set for the little ones. Great place to camp and we will be back. Paid for 6 nights and got the 7th free and used PPA discount also. - Calibrateguy
Aug 2016 - $38.00
This park has a lot of kid's stuff as you drive into the front gate. The sites that I could see were close together and not very attractive. That being said, what I couldn't see was the 10 acres of property to the rear. These sites were semi level grass, very wide and long, and very attractive. The perimeter of this area is made up of large trees, flowers and corn fields. It felt like we were sitting on a football field by ourselves. The staff is friendly and there aren't many rules; common sense only. Satellite, water pressure, wi-first were all good. We would stay here again.. - ctjt1234
Jul 2016 - $32.00
This campground is amazing. The bathroom was the cleanest that I have ever seen. The lights were bright, the floor had colorful epoxy material through out the bathroom floor, Clean shower curtains. We had a long pull through site. We parked on a concrete slab. The slab had seen better days, but we were able to level just fine. The sites are large and spacious. They keep the grass cut and manicured. There are many permeant campers, but everyone of them were also immaculate. They have a lot to do from a well keep swimming pond, putt putt golf, driving range, 3 horseshoe set ups. The hosts were very pleasant to work with. We will remember this place if we are every back this way again. - Honeybear & Sugarbear
Jun 2016 - $40.00
Riverfront Park Campground is well maintained and a pleasant enough place to stay. Access to the spaces was difficult to a novice travel trailer owner. Spaces are not angled for easy parking. They are straight so you have to make a 90 degree turn in a fairly tight space. No mention of this was made or help offered until we were having difficulty - unlike other RV parks we have stayed at where help was offered at check-in. However, the reason we are only giving a mediocre rating is our experience making reservations. We called months in advance to make our reservation and spoke with the owner who told us we did not need a confirmation number. We also called a month prior to our arrival date to confirm & were again told we did not need a confirmation number by the same man we spoke to previously. When we arrived at the campground, to our dismay, they had no record of our reservation, and said the full hook up sites were under construction and none were available. When we complained, they said they had one available till Monday because another camper had been delayed in arriving. This worked for us as we were departing Monday morning anyway. However, we were really put off by the poor office management practices and will not be staying here again. Reasonably quiet park, staff pleasant but completely unorganized. - vmak57
May 2016 - $40.00
Parks in the local area are few, but this will work for an extended stay, as its access to the parking areas is rather tight (poor planning), but is fine for a smaller rig (30 ft or less). Low tree limbs is not an issue, but dust due to gravel drives is probably the biggest problem. Quiet/family oriented atmosphere with a lake/riverfront on the property. Nice people, no issues encountered with neighbors and no road noise. Many long term tenants, no mobile homes and no trash noted. Had some problems with the 50 amp service, but the office was accommodating and remedied the issue with no drama. No documentation/receipts provided for the stay from the office. If I needed to visit the area again, I would return based upon our visit/experience. - wolffden
