We did not plan to be at this park when our trip started. We called them when we discovered a need to stop for a couple of nights. Extremely accommodating. Found a site available and invited us to stay. This park is excellent. Wide grassy spaces between sites. Concrete pads. Full hook ups at every site. Landscape lava rock around the concrete pad made hook ups easy and clean. We have air leveling only, and it didn't have to do much to level the coach. Very well maintained. Quiet. We would return here in a heartbeat. No picnic tables, fire rings, or pool that we could see. There is a stocked fishing pond. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Just outside of Des Moines IA. We tried Flying Mango restaurant which was featured on Food Network. Excellent brisket!

No discounts offered. Our site was pull-thru, FHU, 50 amp with a concrete pad. There were large manicured grass areas separating the sites. The site was very nice, but required 4" of blocks to level. The hookups are at the rear of the site and not convenient for a motorhome that is towing and not unhooking for the night. We had good Verizon cell and internet reception and good DishTV satellite reception. The park has wide roads, a large pond, good laundry facilities, a workout room and other amenities. There is no onsite office so it is best to call ahead. The park was full the night we stayed. We would stay here again. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

I can't say enough good things about this park. Two huge horse statues flank the drive as you pull in. All the roads are wide, paved, and there are no low hanging trees as you make your way through the park to your space. The facilities are excellent. Spaces are very large, paved, and are surrounded by grass. There are no weird rocks/boulders that are going to tear your rig apart. It is a quiet park with a couple of ponds and water fountains. There is a large paved bike trail next to the park that is part of the city system. Centrally located within easy driving distance of Ankeny, Des Moines, or Altoona. Easy. There is no wifi included which I think is great because I would rather pay for working wifi than have someone tell me it is included and then it not work. I have stayed at the park 4 times now for extended periods. There is no office. I've never met the owner, never seen her, but can say that she does an excellent job. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here in late January as it was perhaps the only RV campground near Des Moines open all winter. It caters mainly to long-term campers, but they keep a few sites open for transient visitors. Many large Class A and Fifth Wheels were insulation wrapped for the winter. The pull-through spaces were quite long and very well spaced out, all concrete. Ours was fairly level but we needed one block under each front wheel. The electrical box was near the entrance to the site so by the time we parked with our towed car, we needed a bit >25' of wire to reach it (we routinely carry 25'+25' extension). The bathrooms and showers were immaculate. There were other amenities we did not see because of winter and arriving after dark. The owner was friendly and while I expected her to "guide us in" on arrival, she guided us in by telephone, which worked out OK. The sites are open and subject to strong winds during the winter season. The dumpster was a bit hard to find at night but in the morning we saw it near the exit road. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

This is an excellent park on the top of a hill. Well kept, with lots of long term campers, but adequate sites for nightly campers. We were only there one night No cable, but plenty of TV channels. Wi-fi was pay for use. We did not use it. Would have given a higher rating if wi-fi was available without a charge We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Like others have said, it is a little strange to have no office on site and have them guide you in my phone. But, the place was beautiful, everything was clean, landscaping was manicured and everything was well taken care of. A picnic table would have been nice but not a requirement. Lady was very friendly over the phone and when I asked about a receipt, emailed me one within minutes. Very, very quiet at night and quite relaxing. Will definitely stay here again when I am in the area. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 1 night in our 40' MH. Great park - beautifully landscaped. Definitely a good value. Space was really long even though it was a back-in site. Lots of OTA stations. If you want wifi you have to pay extra. Check-in was a little strange as a man met us as we were calling the office as instructed to do when arriving and he took us to the site but there was no map of the park given out and had to ask them to bring us a receipt. Great showers. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Excellent RV park, concrete sites are long and far apart with grass between. Nice walking path around a lake. Set up for seasonal RV's and We stayed here one night on our way back to AZ. We would stay again. The restrooms and showers were immaculate. The only strange part is there is no check in, you call when you are near and they stay on the phone with you and guide you in. Very confusing on how to check in, office and RV park are two different locations. Poor signage for the office. Camp host at park was very helpful. Dog droppings are out of control, not the parks fault, you can't control owners. Park is laid out very well when you finally figure out all of the oddities. I doubt we will stay here again. Rate is based on weekly rate. Improvements in the park continue. Almost all spots are now concrete. Spots are spacious and level. We look forwar to staying here every year. Two clubhouses, a nice pond to walk around, etc. Our only knock on this park is the wi-fi. It's not free but we still did not use it as the wi-fi signal was too weak for us to even get a connection. Stayed a week here in a 42 foot 5th wheel and rate reflects that. Rate does not reflect the additional $13.95 for internet access which was very good. Even though we reserved a pull-through and were given a back-in, the site was deep, large and very nice. Nice park amenities in the clubhouse and easy access, paved roads. It is interesting to note that we never met the owners but we spoke to them via phone when we arrived. They then guided us to our site via phone. Park is very quiet with some train noise at night. The site was deep but no patio or picnic table was provided. Nice that the paved bike path runs right behind the park for easy access. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Park looks like two different parks, one a little older that looked very tight to your neighbor and the other wide open grassy sites that we beautiful. We were in the nicer section on an end site. Both sides of the camper had park like grass and plenty of room. No cable but lots of OTA channels. We only had one night but after seeing the campground and surrounding area we wished that we had more time.

As someone else noted checkin was easy if you have a reservation.

Would definitely stay again. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We happened to be close to the park, so just stopped to see if we could stay there. Rather confusing as there was a clubhouse, but no office, and we didn't see anything telling us to go back down the road to check in. The phone number that came up in yellow pages didn't get us anywhere, but the owner happened along and took us under his wing. Within a few minutes were were parked. This had to be one of the prettiest, well-kept parks we've ever stayed in. Grounds were landscaped well, including a creek, pond, & wildlife statues. We were quite impressed with everything. Will be sure to stop there again and will recommend it to others without a doubt. We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is our 4th year at Griffs and we will continue to come back. As the website states, most of the sites are long term but we see 1 and 2 nights stays quite often. The sites in front are back-in and some are dirt and some are cement. The sites in back are all cement with pull-thrus in the middle and back-ins around the circles. The hook-ups are easy, the sites are mostly level, there are trees but they are still growing so mostly the sites are sunny. The clubhouses are wonderful: clean, large, with full kitchens (can be rented out for parties), clean bathrooms and laundries, tornado shelters and TV's. There is a nice pond with fountains and a path around it. There is also an old railroad bed which has been made into a trail next to the park. The park is close to both Altoona and Ankeny for shopping.
Can you tell I like this park and will continue to return? We camped at Griff's Valley View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
