Overall Rating:

Our rate reflects the "rally" rate, thus we give it four stars, although I would drop it down to three if paying their regular rate. It is, as stated in most other reviews, a very large open field with a few, mostly small, trees. If you arrive early and the park isn't full, they will lead you to your site in such a manner that you won't have to back in. The utility station does serve four campers, thus two will have to run their electric and water under the coach to reach the station. The sites are long and level. The spacing between vehicles using the same power station is adequate. The spacing between vehicles not using the same station is excellent. There are few amenities at the park unless you are attending a rally or function that utilizes one of the pavilions or meeting halls. It could only be considered a destination if you were planning on exploring the surrounding area - Amana Colonies. When you check in, tell them you want to be facing north, which means you want an odd numbered site in one of the "lettered" lots. THIS IS IMPORTANT - each power pole station serves four sites. The first four will be 1,2,3, and 4; the second set will be 5,6,7 and 8; the third will be 9,10,11 and 12; and the last set will be 13,14,15 and 16. In each of these groups you will want the site with the highest odd number. In other words, you will want site 3 or 7 or 11 or 15. You may wish to avoid 15 as it is next to the interior street making for more noise and dust. The reason - shade and spacing on the side where you sit outside. There are numerous trash dumps around the park and some sites have picnic tables. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Walmart, Sam's and Costco in Iowa City less than 20 miles away. The Amana Colonies has a very interested history and is probably worth touring the area. (We've just arrived and haven't had a chance to get out and about.)

Park is a big field and RV's are parked back to back with utilities shared at the back. So you best have long wire, water hose and sewer hose to get to them. My electric cord just made it, 30 ft, to the pole. Many others had to extend electric and sewer hoses. Site is mostly grass with a bit of gravel thrown in. I'm not sure I would stay again. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large park that had gravel on the sites and roads years ago. The narrow site is semi level and about 10 feet wide, made of gravel/dirt. Grass separates each site, and two vehicles share the water source. The grass area is home to many rodents and their holes are everywhere. This is a danger to human and animal traffic. The laundry room has five washers to accommodate several hundred sites. The staff is grumpy all the time. We experienced heavy rain on our stay and the roads became mud. There are several villages, but only one was open on our stay. One day here is plenty. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Do NOT forget to tell staff if you have Passport America. They will not ask and if you forget you cannot get a refund! This is our third visit to this park. It is convenient to Iowa City as well as about a half an hour off of I-80. Very quiet and situated very close to the quaint villages that encompass the Amana Colonies. The roads and sites are gravel with grass alongside. Due to recent heavy rains the entire area was quite soggy. Our spot was a pull thru only as long as a second person was not backed into the site behind us, and then they were quite close to our rear window. The sites are gravel and level and sufficiently wide for slide outs. The utilities are on a shared post with both fifty and thirty amp available. There is no shade in the area. The staff was friendly and available. There was a big Good Sam rally beginning while we were there but they were able to make room for our stay. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Visiting the villages of Amana is very interesting. We always stop at the broom store to purchase a new, handmade broom. Note that the main roads into and out of the area are concrete and very rough.

Large field converted into an RV park. Four sites share water and electric posts. Ideal for an RV rally because of meeting space. Visitors need transportation to explore the nearby towns making up the Amana Colonies. Little to no shade. Level gravel sites. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Easy in/out, level site. Friendly helpful staff. Utilities worked fine. Nice amount of space between sites on sides but each site has close end-to-end site for shared utility hookup. This makes water and electric hookups in the very back of the site. It was not busy when we were hear so this was not an issue but if it were packed our 5er would be butt up against a neighbor being not so nice and requiring the shade be left closed for privacy. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

My husband and I stayed here 3 different times in October 2014. We used Passport America for the first 2 nights. Very nice campground and wonderful people in the office. Very close to Cedar Rapids for any shopping. If looking for a church while here we suggest the Calvary Baptist church in Cedar Rapids. The pastor is terrific and the congregation is very friendly. Best to call ahead because they have many groups that meet here through the year. We highly recommend this campground. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

The rate of $18 quoted reflects the Passport America rate. The limit for PA is two nights and I chose that option. As mentioned before the roads are terribly dusty throughout the park. There is also a lot of Potholes, both leading into the park and all throughout the place. The power and water pedestals are not positioned correctly and the sewer inlet pipe was sticking about a foot and a half out of the ground. Both my electric cord and water hose were stretched to their limit in order to hook up my rig. There is nothing to do in the park as far as pools, play areas, and relaxation areas. The normal rate in this park is $36. I would not stay here again. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

The daily rate reflects the ‘rally rate’. It is not really a question of if you will stay here, but when. The Amana Colonies are an amazing place to visit and the Amana RV park is the only place to stay. It is a very very large grassy area with gravel roads separating the park into sections based on hookups types. The roads were in terrible shape. When it is dry, cars and trucks kick up an enormous amount of dust. When wet, the roads are a bunch of little lakes, where water collects in all of the potholes and the sides of the roads are muddy. The gravel sites are nice and long and level; set up as either a very long site or two long sites back to back, so you end up with 4 rigs all sharing a single cluster of utility posts and faucets. Each site does however have a sewer connection at the rear on the drivers side. Even with a 41’ fifth wheel and 23’ tow vehicle, we still had lots of room in our site. The staff is very friendly and we were escorted to our site. Water pressure was good, although it did fluctuate at times. The electricity was a good voltage and steady. ATT and Verizon signal strengths were terrible. The park wifi is very good, lots of access points and connection speed. There is so much to see and eat in Amana, restaurants, cafes, bakeries and chocolate shops, but for good grocery shopping, need to drive the 20 miles to Coralville for a Costco, Wal-mart or Hy-Vee’s. The Visitor’s Center in downtown Amana offers 3 hour long driving tours daily and sometimes twice a day. The drivers are knowledgeable about the history of the 7 villages and the colonists. If passing through this area, we will definitely stay here again. The roads were the main reason for the rating, otherwise it would be have a 10. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed five nights for Telephone Pioneer Family Campers International Rally. Facilities were great for Rally. When we arrived they were having a dog show . Park big enough to not be bothered by barking dogs. Staff was friendly . Park close to historic Amana Colonies. Great restaurants and wineries in town of Amana. Sewer and electric hookups are not set up the greatest; this is why park not rated higher. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Can't beat this place. Have used it twice this year for over night stops. Easy in and out. Friendly helpful staff. Water, power, bath facilities were good as usual. What can I say, it's a great place to visit, also. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent one night here while visiting the Amana Colonies. We were met with a very friendly and helpful staff during check-in. They lead us to our site and helped us get lined up with our utilities. The park was clean, quiet, and there was plenty of space between sites. We would stay here again. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Passport America price for first two nights. Park is open and flat, with ultra-long pull-through sites. Only drawback for us is the DUST! The roads give up a storm cloud of talcum-powder dust no matter how slow you go. Location out in the Iowa farm country is really nice, and we plan to explore the Amana colonies for a few days. We used our Passport membership for a great discount. Wonderful campground, very flat, in the midst of a corn field. Easy access to Amana Colonies. Very friendly management. Great for larger RV's as all appear to be pull through spaces. Would stay here again for sure. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
