We stayed for two nights. Had this beautiful wooded park pretty much to ourselves, only three other campers. Exceptionally clean grounds, bathrooms appear to be new or newer, spotless. Beautiful scenic views when you walk down the road to the end. Lots of gnats (I guess that is what they are called). The countryside is gorgeous rolling farm land. The Mississippi is just outside the park. The little town is quaint and has very nice paved flower lined walking paths along the waterfront. There is a lock and dam there. Self pay with check with iron ranger. Water hydrant was across the street. The hydrants are located randomly through out the park. We filled up when we departed. I would make sure you have your water filled before arriving. Dump is conveniently located as you leave. No WiFi. We would return. We camped at Bellevue State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town has a Benders Food Store on 2nd Street. Also a post office on that street which we needed to use. The country roads are really pretty and worth the drive.

Overall Rating:

Small, quiet park with 30/50-amp electric; water & dump available. Sites gravel/grass; approximately 10 are large enough for big rigs. Plenty of shade, grass and room to walk our dogs. We camped in Site #34, a 62-ft. long, level, back in. Campground is in the Dyas Unit; entrance at 193rd St. We would stay here again. We camped at Bellevue State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We found this campground in the middle of a severe storm that necessitated us leaving the interstate. Host suggested we park in the overflow lot and hook into electric on a site nearby. Worked out great as we didn't have to unhook the car. Campground was large, spacious, and clean. Right on the Missouri River with a boat ramp. Rated 10 because host was so helpful! Would stay here again! We camped at Bellevue State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a small beautiful and quiet state park with gravel, and level sites. The Dyas Unit has 45 camping sites (31 with electrical hookups with 30/50 amp), very clean restrooms and showers and dump station and water stations in the park, but not at sites. The campground is in the Dyas unit at 21466 429th Avenue Bellevue, IA 52031. Sixteen dollars is for electric sites; $11 for non-electric. The park manager and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The state park allows you to stay 2 weeks. WE WILL RETURN. We camped at Bellevue State Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This small, very pleasant park is somewhat remote, but is convenient to the Mississippi River and the town of Bellevue. Most sites have 50-amp power service and some also have sewer connections. Water standpipes are dispersed throughout the campground rather than being located at each site. The park has numerous hiking trails plus several overlooks of the river. There is a good Verizon broadband signal, but no over the over the air television signals were found. Dish users should be aware that some of the sites may be too shaded for good signal reception. The entry to park is from 429th Avenue which runs parallel to US-52. If approaching the park from the south, use the entrance at 193rd Street (42.20432 N, 90.38385 W). Doing this will avoid having to make a very sharp left turn on 429th Avenue (42.22718 N, 90.39840 W). We camped at Bellevue State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a small state park with concrete interior roads and grass and gravel, fairly level sites. The Dyas Unit has 45 camping sites (31 with electrical hookups with 20/30/50 amp), clean rest rooms and showers plus a dump station. There are water stations in the park but not at sites. The park has two parts. The campground is in the Dyas unit at 21466 429th Avenue Bellevue, IA 52031. DO NOT try to take a large RV to the Nelson unit because the access road is steep with limited turn-arounds. The Nelson unit does have a nature center and butterfly garden. There are 3 overlooks of the Mississippi River, lock and dam #12, and the town of Bellevue with the one in the Nelson unit being an especially good photo op. Bellevue, although small, has several good restaurants; our favorites are the Market Café for lunch and Grandpa’s Parlor for ice cream treats and breakfast! $16 is for electric sites; $11 for non-electric. We camped at Bellevue State Park in a Motorhome.
