15 Parks near Camanche, Iowa
Jul 2015 - $19.00
A great campground right on the river, with a lot of things to do. Great fishing, has boat slips (docks?) if you have a boat (I do not), and you can rent boats or paddle boats. Right next to the Eco Tourism center, which has lots of neat things going on.
Avoid when raining, as the entire campground turns into a big mud puddle. Also can be very buggy. - David Johnson
May 2009 - $15.00
We had a pretty decent stay. My only complaint was the cold water in the shower. Taking a shower on a 45* morning and only having lukewarm water was not pleasant. - User781
Sep 2007 - $15.00
This is a county park. It is on a backwater of the Mississippi River. It is a marina in addition to being a campground. The marina business was very busy during our stay. We stayed in site #65 right on the water. Due to the slow-moving water, there were lots of mosquitoes, so staying outside was a challenge. We wanted to stay in a place right on the Mississippi and we couldn't tell about this place looking at the map. Sites are electric only. There are lots of trees so maneuvering a big rig would be problematic. Bargain price. The showers are a long hike from many of the campsites so we didn't try them. There are pit toilets scattered around and we didn't try them either. In the future, we'd plan a little better and choose another campground. It seemed like mostly locals were staying there. - NancyB
Aug 2014 - $20.00
This is a great place for a night or two....very clean and neat. It's right in the city and is next to their minor league ballpark and a marina. Sites are all pave & level, with nice grass around. We never saw a camp host...just picked a site and put our $20 in a slot. There is a train track right beside it, and several trains went by in the night and blew their horns at the crossing. They woke is up, but we went right back to sleep. There's lots of fast food within walking distance. There was a good WiFi signal from the marina which requires an access code, and the entry screen said that paying campers could get a voucher from the marina. I guess it was free. We had a good Verizon signal, so used my phone to tether. We didn't use the shower, but I looked in and they were not fancy, but very functional. Don't know about the hot water or shower heads. - mom2wildlife
Aug 2011 - $16.00
A great find in the Clinton, Iowa area. This worked well for us while visiting family. It is well located, clean and neat. We would stay here again. - CaptainNemo
Aug 2013 - $25.00
Picturesque park on the Mississippi. Our site was 50 yards from the river. Beautiful wooded campground with grass sites. A cabin is available to rent, also. The manager is always helpful and friendly. There is a boat ramp and pier on the premises, too. This was our third time there and we always enjoy it. - Bill from Kenosha
Jul 2012 - $22.00
We stayed here in order to go to Antique Archeology in Le Claire IA ... across the Mississippi River. Great campground...very friendly lady in the office. Beautiful full view of the river. Had great antenna TV reception. Good cell phone cell service. Boat launch and fishing pier. I would definitely stay here again! - murphyhupp
Jun 2016 - $10.00
We have camped here numerous times. Many sites have views of the Mississippi river or the lagoon. It was nesting season for the box turtles while we were there this time and it was very interesting as they had a team of college students observing and recording the nests. Our site was paved and easy to back into. It was quite shady, though close to woods, so in some circumstances it can be quite buggy. We enjoy this park because it is close to a bike path, you can fish and boat on the river and it is an enjoyable park to walk the dogs and observe the river. It is a popular and reasonably well maintained park, which we find most of COE parks to be. - JonesAussies
Sep 2015 - $20.00
We stayed here for 2 nights. We were right on the Mississippi River. Nice level concrete pads. Ours was a little tight to get into as the roads are one-way and pretty narrow. The mosquitos were thick, but you really have to expect that. Very well kept. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. - jacknpeg
Aug 2015 - $20.00
Really nice location, right on the Mississippi river. Almost all sites have concrete pads (first campground I've used that has it. Most sites have good shade. Ours didn't, and this weekend was brutally hot and no shade until about 4pm. The Mississippi river trail runs through the park. It's paved (some local roads) and great for riding. Restroom/showers were clean, but there were millions of bugs at this time of year and the sinks were covered. For a fairly remote location, we also had fairly good cellular service. - Scott_E
May 2016 - $23.00
Another gem that we have to share, but hate to in hopes that it's not overtaken! Well maintained, lots of room between sites, great rates. Biking, hiking, lakes, pool, golf course (not our thing now but a nice looking course.) Going to extend here a few days for sure. It is so nice that we saw several local folks pull in today, set their campers up, then call their friends to tell them to get out here, then leave. They do this to secure their site for the weekend as this is first come, first served. No reservations. All the staff are awesome, and a lot of ranger presence. Fires allowed in the pits provided. There are four campgrounds here, but Bald Eagle is the one we are in and the only full hookup campground. There is one other one that has electric and water, but would be hard to get level with a motor home or larger fifth wheel. - Ron and Terri
Nov 2015 - $19.00
We stay at the Pine Grove campground when we go to Scott County. They are nice surrounded by woods sites. Tons of trails and playgrounds for kids. They also have a water park within walking distance of Pine Grove but not so close you have alot of traffic. We have stayed here a half dozen times. - Charles_ Jeannie
Jul 2015 - $22.00
This park was immaculate. Lots of room between sites. Very quiet. There was a camp host but we never saw them. All sites are back in. The park employee who took our money was grumpy but got the job done. We stayed here on a Monday and Tuesday night. Only a few sites were available as this park seems to be used by locals. - Weckerly
May 2012 - $14.00
Wonderful, well kept campground on Mississippi River. Sites are a bit small, but it wasn't crowded so every other site left plenty of space. This time of year it is heavy with fish flies; be ready to have a campfire to keep them away. Very nice bike path runs through the campground which you can ride for 10 to 20 miles in either direction. Nice location, we would stay here again for a weekend. - lc47
Aug 2011 - $15.00
Great county run park. A wonderful view of the Mississippi River and not far from towns for shopping/eating. Sites are spacious and level, gravel. Great value! Would return here if in the area. - Highway Star
Oct 2010 - $13.00
Technically, I should probably give this a little lower rating - because of no sewer hook-up and unlevel sites - but it was one of our favorite stops, so...! We extended our stay and were loathe to leave. It's a very pretty park, right along the MS River, with nice 50 amp sites for an unbelievably low price!! There's also a nice bike trail that runs right through the park and alongside the river. We got a little confused getting here - turns out there's an exit off the I-80 (Exit #1) onto Route 84 that takes you straight to the park! Somehow our GPS had other ideas... Also, it's not obvious where to go when you first get here. The campground is on the river side (there is more of the park across the road for picnicking, etc.). Just go "straight" on the main road till you get to the office (a ways in). If no one is there, just pick out your spot and pay them when they get back. We would definitely stay here again if in the area! - CarrieBearie
May 2015 - $20.00
We stayed here for two nights on a shakedown cruise on our "new" 2004 motorhome. We had one of two pull through sites. It was easy to get in and out of and the electrical was easy to reach.
Most of the sites are nicely shaded although there is a more open area on a cul de sac with a small playground area. It's a nice campground with many nice sized dry level sites. - Charlie K
May 2014 - $20.00
This used to be a great park but has gone down hill a lot. Electrical service at sites is dated and very under-powered. There were 6 sites fed by one 80 amp breaker and the Rangers comments were "shut off your A/C". We moved to a 50 amp site in another area and our EMS showed one leg at 122 volts, the other at 115! Stayed here over Memorial day for 14 days and saw NO meaningful security except for the county sheriff deputy drove through 2 times! The Ranger was off for the weekend so only the volunteers were available. Loud cars drove through all night! We had reservations for later in summer and have already cancelled them. Gnats are very numerous, you will need a LOT of bug spray to sit around a campfire here! - Fulltimer5
Apr 2010 - $18.00
Beautiful park. Very woodsy and scenic. Nice lake for fishing and birdwatching. Campgrounds were deserted during our visit. Camp hosts are very nice and helpful. Fantastic covered bridge that had us worried our rid would not be able to use, but it was no problem. Most of the sites are wooded but there is a small loop of open sites near the playground. Restaurant and concessions will open mid April. Be sure to stock up in the small town of Morrison if you need anything. There are plenty of horse trails which you can use. Wish it had water or sewer but there is a dump site. Will be sure to visit again. - redshoe
Jul 2016 - $10.00
Spent one night here. Very nice COE park right on the Mississippi River. Price reflects Senior Pass Discount. Sure was cement, level but close to the road. Site was not long enough for us to park our Jeep on but there was extra parking spaces right across from our site. Electric hookup only.
Park rangers made passes through frequently and were available for questions when the park kiosk was closed. Some sites have a view of the river. Lots of mature trees. - Darcan
May 2016 - $10.00
After passing the kiosk, sites 1 thru 25 are on the left and sites 26 - 56 are on the right side. The left side loop appears more crowed and there is a canopy of trees that encompass many of the sites. There is a play area and a bathhouse with one shower per gender also within the left side loop. Most people like this loop because you can see the Mississippi river. The right side loop has fewer trees, more in the open and no view of the river.
There is a vault toilet within both loops. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Water spigots are also scattered around both loops. There are two dump stations with fresh water just before the kiosk.
All sites have 50/30/15 amp electrical service and the electrical voltage was good - hovering around 122 volts. The interior roads are on asphalt and the sites are on concrete. The sites are fairly level but the length of the sites vary. Some are long enough for a large rig (without a tow) while others barely fit a small class C. All sites are back-ins.
There is an active train that runs sporadically throughout the day and night. These trains run slowly so the noise is not too bad. Road noise quiets down in the evening. Verizon air card and cell phone reception was good.
Overall, this is a nice campground. We have a 32 5th wheel. - adsaxs
May 2016 - $10.00
What a great spot along the Mississippi River! Our site has an awesome view of the river. Easy internet reservation. Some of the lots will be difficult to back into with a big rig due to trees or poles, but our lot was great and 80 ft long. No water or sewer but 50 amps and view & grassy lots make up for it. Level concrete pad. We had satellite service but some lots will not. Price reflects National Parks Senior Pass. - Freedom Bus
Apr 2016 - $30.00
We camped here for a month and loved it. We were parked at the end of the row so had plenty of space. So nice to not be in the middle of retail madness yet only 20 minutes to the grocery and mall. We were here before the peak season began and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Super friendly staff and helpful with any needs. Plaza has a great laundry, gym, and game room along with many other cool things. Very clean showers and restrooms. Roads and sites are paved which is perfect for rollerblading and biking. Also, has a nice playground for the kids to enjoy. Beautiful view of the lake. Hopefully, we are back in the area. Would love to stay again. - Sarina Thomas
Sep 2015 - $50.00
This gated park was very clean and was easy to maneuver around with a large rig. The office staff was super friendly, as were the people who worked on the grounds. We stayed here for several weeks during August and September, and chose this particular place because of all the amenities and activities it listed online. We arrived on a weekend and there was a ton going on and we thought it was perfect. But then on Monday we found out that everything is closed during the week. The snack bar and store opened on Friday night and closed on Sunday afternoon, and the hours on those days were quite limited. From Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon it was like a ghost town, which is something the kids and I did not enjoy. There are many, many insects, especially mosquitos and flies, which made it almost impossible to sit or play outside after 5 pm. And if you need anything, it is a thirty minute ride to the nearest grocery store. If you have kids, this is a great place for a weekend stay, but not an extended one. We camped here in a fifth wheel. - NomadFamily
Aug 2015 - $1.00
Thank god for Coast to Coast or we would not have stayed here for $72 a night. Nothing here worth that much money. The grounds are very well kept but the staff can not keep up with the trash that some day use people leave behind. The internet is fair at best even in the Plaza where they day the have free internet. If you can get connected you are doing good. The sites are narrow with a grassy area in between you and the other campers. The lake is pretty if you look past the over growth of algae that is growing on all of the ponds and the large lake. We were in a 31 ft motor home with a 20 ft tow, the site was very large and could handle us. Nice park but if it was not for Coast to Coast I would not stay here. - Walter Pfiitze
