Rate reflects Access Pass Discount. This COE campground is pristine. Grounds and restrooms are very, very well maintained. Camp host was extremely helpful even when we arrived on his day off. There are many sites with water views. Reservations can be difficult to obtain for weekends, however, during the week it is very peaceful and quiet. Our only complaint is for a large rig it is difficult to find level sites. We would not reserve site unseen on line due to this fact.

There are other COE campgrounds (Island and Bridge View) in the area which have more level sites for big rigs.

Verizon Cell phone signal was good. We camped at Buck Creek (Rathbun Lake) COE in a Motorhome.

I believe we were overcharged for a 30amp, and no discounts were offered (guess we should have asked as we do belong to a couple groups). Loved it though. Spots are big and level, so peaceful (busier during summer I imagine as it is a beautiful lake for water activities). Close to Centerville for some shopping or even a movie. Do wish, however, that it had full hookups. We will be back, and have our spot picked out! We camped at Buck Creek (Rathbun Lake) COE in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

We only stayed one night passing through, but will go back, primarily for fishing. But the non-fishing can go into Centerville, as it advertised interesting shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and even a HyVee!

Nice paved roads with gravel sites. Has fire rings at each site and baths are conveniently located. Nice lake for boating and fishing. Close to Honey Creek Resort state park which has a motel, restaurant, water park and golf course. These are all accessible without a park vehicle day use permit. Wish there were some walking trails. We camped at Buck Creek (Rathbun Lake) COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

One of the best camping stops we have ever made. Excellent place, neat as a pin. I wouldn't be afraid to camp next to the water, looked level, but not when I searched using Google Earth. We did go by the marina campground at Buck Creek, I wouldn't recommend that section, as it was full of "full-timers," and very crowded. We stayed in loop B. The RV dump was very good on the way out of the campground. Excellent view of the lake, very quiet, a few digital stations over the air TV. I would recommend staying a week. We were using US Route 34, so no interstates are nearby. We camped at Buck Creek (Rathbun Lake) COE in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here often on our travels back and forth across the country. It is a nice COE campground with electrical hookups and pleasant sites with space around them. The campground is situated on a small arm of what is a big lake and if boating and fishing is your thing, this is a great place to be. And even if you are not a boater, this is a quiet, pleasant campground and a nice place to spend some time. We'll be back. We camped at Buck Creek (Rathbun Lake) COE in a Motorhome.
