3 Parks near Council Bluffs, Iowa
Aug 2015 - $30.00
Just a parking lot with power and water hookup. The spaces are too narrow for rigs with slides, but they only use every other space so it works. Noise from interstate was loud. No security in sketchy area. You don't get any discounts for casino or restaurant.
If you can dry camp you might be able to save $30 to $40 by staying in different parking lot. - sfrantz
Jun 2015 - $40.00
Spaces are very close together. Once slide outs are out it's difficult for people to get in and out of their campers. Awnings cannot be extended. No sewer connection. Dump station nearby. The casino security manages the campground. Billing is handled at the Harrah's casino which is approximately five miles away. The billing office will place a very large pending charge on credit cards that are used to reserve and pay for the site. This is a practice that we disputed with them. Closest campsite when going to the College World Series. - Aldeaux
May 2015 - $40.00
We stayed one night over Memorial Day weekend. The price is supposed to be $30 a night but the guard said since it was Memorial Day weekend the price was $40, what a rip off! If there was anyplace else available we would have moved on. They had plenty of spots available, just your basic parking lot just off the interstate so some highway noise. We would not stop again unless extremely desperate. - Lynn-Donny
Jul 2015 - $16.00
This park does not enforce any rules/restrictions. It has homeless camps set up in it that are pigsty's. On weekends, this is party central. Too many cars/people on one site. Dogs running loose. People urinating out in the open as bathroom is too far for them to walk. Very unsafe for children as cars are constantly driving through this tiny campground just to see the "circus". If this isn't enough, power is horrible. This is all just a shame to see as this area is so beautiful with the bike paths and deer & turkeys everywhere. All on a nice lake. Council Bluffs has a lot to offer but find another campground. - exit to
Jul 2015 - $16.00
This was, by far, the worst state park/camping experience we've had. After one night we couldn't get back on the road fast enough. Some of the campsites appear to be used as a junkyard. There was garbage all over the park. The bathrooms were so disgusting that in the morning my children refused to use them; the men's room had fecal matter throughout the stalls. People partied until late at night; the campground was rather noisy. The water and electric loop was a little quieter, but still loud. If we have to make the trip again, we will look for a campground near Omaha instead. - GB family
Oct 2014 - $11.00
Camped here during a soccer tournament. The showers are shut off by the time of year that we camp. The water hydrants are on. We fill when we get there and shower in the camper. The vault toilets are typical vault toilets. Fire rings are provided with nice racks. We bought firewood at the local hardware store. Lake is nice but at this time of year too cold to swim. We have biked and run the trails with our family. Just this morning we saw about 10 deer and a dozen wild turkeys. We have camped all over the US KOA, Good Sam, county parks, and state parks. Most reviews are filled with negativity. I have not felt unsafe here or that my children were in danger of being harmed. Because this campground does not have activities or an office I don't feel it deserves a 10. However, previous review portray this campground as full of homeless, drunks, and crackheads - which is not true. - CampingFamilyFun6
Jul 2015 - $35.00
I don't often post reviews, but this RV park has bad reviews that I just don't understand! Yes, they do not take reservations, yes, it is cash or check only, and yes it is operated by a woman perhaps in her seventies who does not use the internet.. But that woman was pleasant, smiled, chatted with me during the easy check-in, and did not demand to park my rv for me. She did come out and "spot me" to be sure I didn't drive over the sewer opening which is raised a few inches from the ground.. So what??
This is a very nice little campground - the grass is well-watered and well-mowed, the water pressure is 40 which is passable, the 50 amp is solid as a rock, and the long-term residents have decently-clean setups.
Omaha needs a good campground -- it has one - Tomes. - LagunaJim
Aug 2014 - $30.00
I do not recommend this Park. Owner insists on parking the rig himself. Office is often unattended. Phones unanswered. Will not take reservations. Unfriendly. Caters to construction and long term renters rather than over-nighters or short term. - Rollenhome
Aug 2014 - $37.00
The above rate includes tax. This park is small and even though it was about half full, I think they were all long-term residents except us. Our experience with most long-term parks seems they can be 'trashy' but this one was pretty well maintained and not a lot of 'stuff' around. Power and water pressure were good, however, we couldn't get our satellite to work because of all the trees. Sites moderate in size and the manager/owner was pleasant (just not overly friendly). We'd stay here again as it is convenient to areas we want to visit. - Wannabees
