We made reservations a few days before our arrival and was told they are cash only and we could get a large space for our MH that was satellite accessible. Upon arrival at the campground, we found the office was locked and a note on the door said to check in with the RV in site #1. Went to site #1 and found a note on the door to call a phone number to check in. We called and a woman asked us to wait until she could drive over and check us in. That wait gave us time to walk the campground and look at the various sites that were vacant (in case the one she had for us wasn't suitable for our rig). Upon her arrival, she was pleasant and she told us which site she had reserved for us. Some of the sites were muddy and uneven, and we thought we might have had some issue getting a sat fix, but she had chosen one of the nicer sites which was level, clean gravel, and allowed us to get a good look at the satellite. The interior roads are paved, and in pretty good repair, but the sites themselves are a mix of good, bad, and almost not there. The site we were on was level, and mostly gravel. It was long, because it was actually a double site (a back to back situation), but others were half gravel, half grass, and not so level, and some were just uneven grass, although we could see there had been gravel down in the past. The utilities were shared between a couple sites and the sewer connections were sometimes hidden in the hostas or bushes. The sewer connections are at the extreme back of the sites and some are hard to find. The pool was closed for the year and there were only a few seasonals left at the campground, so it was very quiet. All in all, this was a sufficient place to stay for a few days while we visited the sites around Dubuque. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

While here you should visit the Eagle Point Park with the Mississippi River views and the dam and locks. The downtown warehouse district deserves a visit as well. There are several nice places in Dubuque to spend the day .

Great small park. Good hook ups. My site was a back in and only used a couple of leveling blocks. . pretty level. Rained the entire time, most unusual for this time of year. The owner/manager was a pleasure to deal with. Will definitely stay here when I return to Dubuque, unless it is full. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Called to check availability day ahead of stay and was told, "We can probably accommodate that." At arrival, checked in at a trailer, not an office. No camp store & no separate office. Staff looked at our unit and decided where to tell us to go - no site numbers. No credit card payment accepted. Many rules for pool usage but not followed by seasonal guests we met there. Bathrooms were very dirty, so we opted not to use them. Full hook-up concrete pad with sewer. Most other sites are gravel. Most occupants were seasonal guests. Overall fine for us stopping through for a few nights with a nice, clean pool for the kids to use. Fire ring & picnic table at site were a bit run-down. AT&T and Verizon have excellent coverage. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground itself is level and at the bottom of a "holler" or hollow. Swimming pool available, as well as tent sites. Office Building locked and you check in at site 1, which is the first trailer on right as you enter. Hoot Owls do exist as we heard several in the early morning hours. About half the sites are for seasonal rigs and the other half available for overnighters and weekenders. Park is approximately 5 miles off US Highway 20 on far west side of Dubuque. Less than 3 miles away is the Sundown Ski Resort (NW) and approx 3 miles east is Kennedy Shopping Mall. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

No wi-fi, no satellite reception, no laundry room, no store; nothing but parking spaces at this campground (although there is a pool). It's clean and quiet but all it affords is a place to park your rig and have hookups. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed Saturday night and it was about half full. Some sites had more space then others and ours was a little tight. Its very close to Dubuque but feels like you are out in the country. The park was well kept and everything was in working order. There was no camp store or office like others mentioned, and we did not get one TV channel. Sewer connection was at the very end of the site and hose was not long enough. Would stay again if passing through. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The approach along Pennsylvania/Middle Road is like a roller coaster, I would guess 15+% grades. As you are driving along Pennsylvania/Middle Road from IA-32, the house numbers are all high 4 digit and 5 digit numbers that do not seem to bear any relationship to Hoot Owl Hollow’s address of 1650 Middle Rd. The park is exactly 2 miles from IA 32, just past the second stop sign at Seippel Rd. There is no visible sign indicating the entrance to the park. As you come over the crest of a hill, you notice all of these RVs right in front on you and you are there. The park manager stays in the RV that is to your immediate right ( site #1) as you drive into the park. The roads are paved, but the sites are gravel and not all that level. Our site sloped down to the rear, so much so, that our leveling system could not level the rig, so I had to level the rig manually. Overnight, the legs settled into the mud, requiring the rig be leveled again the next morning. There was just insufficient gravel down on our site to cope with the water and it was more of a mud pit than anything. We carved some nice 5-6” deep ruts (in addition to the ones already there) and the tires on the rig ended up caked in mud. Many sites appeared to have the same problem of insufficient gravel to cope with the rain, but since these were seasonal sites, not really a problem. All the hookups are at the very rear of the pad, some 6’ past the end of the gravel. Ours were buried in a flower garden. I had to dig a path for the water and sewer hoses. So if coming here, make sure you have enough hoses/electric cable to reach well past the end of your rig. The park is in a meadow between two hills so there were no OTA TV signals, however AT&T and Verizon were just barely usable. The park only accepts cash or checks, no credit cards. Water pressure varied anywhere from 15 to 40 psi, depending on the time of day. The 50 amp electricity was good, we had both AC units running most of the afternoon and evening with no voltage problems. The park is 90% occupied by seasonal/weekend residents. I selected ‘No’ for ‘pull-through sites’ to change the previous setting: There is 1 site that is a true pull-through plus 2 back to back sites which if unoccupied, you can pull through, but 3 out of 70 does not justify a ‘Yes’ , especially as they are usually occupied. Not surprising, our promised pull-through was not available. I selected ‘No’ for ‘big rig friendly’ to change the previous setting: . Once off the main entrance road, the roads are very narrow. The only way we were able to maneuver into our site was by swinging back over 2 other empty sites, as the road was just too narrow and the sites not well angled to the road. If there are vehicles parked from neighboring sites, getting into most of these sights would be impossible.. A mile east of the park on Pennsylvania/Middle Rd, there is a parking area on the south side of the road, for a hike and bike trail that leads off to the south. There are many grocery options available within 3 miles of the park, back at IA32 and Dodge St. We will find somewhere else to stay if ever in this area again. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean, quiet, easy access to pull through site with motor home and towed car.fire pit and picnic table at site. Firewood available at campground. Lots of trees throughout campground. Would rate higher if a camp store were present and office were located in permanent structure and staff available during the day. No camp store. Office is in a camper near entrance to park. Water pressure good except when management is filling swimming pool. Gravel camp site needed additional gravel for rainy weather. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

No laundry; no real office-just a trailer where someone takes money (cash or check only); no security; it is quiet and sites are wide. One concrete slab holds a Big Rig. Odd place but choices are few in this area. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

The management was helpful, friendly on the phone and when we got here. Campground is on the West side of Dubuque, and not very far outside of town. It was a very handy location for us. We came from Highway 20 and found it very easy to get to the campground. We lived in Dubuque several years ago, and found the town has expanded greatly. It is even better than it was 25 years ago. We have always liked Dubuque. There were a lot of campers the night we were here, and we were parked on the side by the road. However the park was very quiet, day and night and there was no traffic noise from the road. The sites are gravel and were reasonably level, the roads were paved and in good condition. There was a pool and shower house, but we didn't use either one. It was a nice place to stay and we may use it again, but we felt the price was kind of high. We paid $35 for full hook up, but could have paid $5 less without sewer hook up. There is a dump station available. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a new park, 3 years old, on the west side of Dubuque, about a mile north of US 20. Nice rural area. Very convenient to Dubuque attractions. Excellent pool. Site are gravel with paved roadway. Big rigs are no problem. Some shade. Some seasonal sites. Very friendly owners. We camped at Hoot Owl Hollow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
