Stayed here two nights on our way through Iowa. Self-serve check-in, with drop box for cash payments, was easy. Nice wooded setting with surprisingly good free wifi. Our FHU back-in site was level and quiet with ample space between sites. Site was long enough that we did not have to disconnect the 5th wheel. Roads were open enough to drive around easily with our big rig, and easily back in. We were back away from the lake, but there are a few water/electric only sites near the water with lake views. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. - Wayne60
May 2014 - $20.00
Quiet, beautiful and heavily treed, some lakeside sites. Very well maintained level sites and the best Wi-Fi signal we've ever had at a campground. We were the only campers on our visit. The only even sort of negative thing I could say is that the bathrooms were basic and unheated. It was 40 degrees this morning! But there was lots of hot water in the showers. - Nortguy
May 2010 - $12.00
Pretty small grass sites with some sites with water at the electrical boxes. Right on the East Fork of the DM River. Great playground, horseshoe pits, near walking trail, very helpful host. - Crop Guy

One of the nicest camp sites we've ever stayed in! Camp host was great. 2 week limit then must leave for 72 hours before moving back. NO RSVP's taken, 1st come, first serve so people paid for spaces all week but didn't show up till weekend. Pretty open during week but busy weekends & packed out holidays! Wifi didn't work but great Verizon coverage. Check website. Loved this place! - User3782

This campground DOES have WiFi!! It's awesome, too! We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. The only downside is that they do not take any reservations, and we were fortunate to get the last full hook up spot. There are 29 FHU's! You must like kids, as this park was full of them, and they aren't cautious around all of the rigs and vehicles, so you have to watch out for them. My kids would have had a ball here when they were younger. Be sure to pack something for them to ride on, with wheels. Razor scooters seemed to be a popular choice. The restrooms were clean and the showers were nicely laid out for privacy, showering and changing clothes. You could even put your foot on the bench to shave your legs! One set of neighbors were very friendly and helpful, while the others kept to themselves and their group. There were many younger parents who still partied outside after the 10:30 quiet time, but with your A/C on, you couldn't hear them. I would go back here in a heartbeat! I went with my hubby, son (11) and our dog. Just wish they took reservations!! If you golf, bring your clubs as the course is right next to the campgrounds. 10 minute, easy drive to Fort Dodge and Walmart, Target and restaurants. If you come from the East, stay on highway 20 to Fort Dodge, don't go through Webster City...it's really not faster and it is more narrow roads. - MRStroud

Really Beautiful park on golf course. Spots are level. Has a museum. We liked Frank A. Gotch Park (15 minutes away) better. - User3782
Sep 2016 - $18.00
This park is nice, the management is terrible. They don't take reservations and many people save sites - for 3 and 4 days. When we came, there were only 3 full hook-up sites left BUT each had a car on them - for 3 days - until finally an RV showed up. We couldn't use these sites, no one else could use these sites and the campground lost $22 per day for 3 days and 3 sites for $198. This happens all the time. We spoke with the hostess but she did nothing. We never saw a ranger.
We'll agree with the previous review - without any management, the park is not always a pleasant experience. - swike

This is a nice City park with a lake, hiking & biking trails. We have stayed here several times. - NE Travelers
May 2016 - $25.00
Wonderful Iowa County Park in large forested area. Campsites are spread out and range from full hookups to electric only to tent and no hook ups. Hiking trails, fishing, boating and even golf! The full hook up sites are a bit confusing- look at the map in self- registration kiosk. Many are designed for large or small groups with RV's and circle or square off in wagon train style!
The electric only sites are over a small creek and spaced out a bit more. Weekends are busy with lots of local families camping. - NanciRV
Aug 2015 - $25.00
We arrived mid-week for a one night stay. The campground host was friendly and helped us find a spot that we could drive into and out of (it was not really a drive-through but the ground was firm so we did not damage the grass). The sites with full hookups are $25, electric-only are $20.
The sites are quite level. They are crushed stone. There is a fire ring and picnic table for each site.
Iowa county parks are very nice. This is another one. - skigramp

Acceptable Municipal park operated by the City of Belmond, Iowa. 16 Mostly level grassy shaded sites. 5 pull through sites (some with trees potentially obstructing slide-out clearance). 8 full hookup sites, 6 with 50 amps; 2 with 20/30 amps. 8 sites with 20/30 amps and water nearby. Dump Station. Bath house with basic but clean facilities. Rates $8 per night for tents, $10 per night for water/electric, $12 for 50 amp full hookup. Some low hanging trees necessitate careful maneuvering with larger vehicles. Payment by cash only through self-service honor box/envelope drop, located at front of bath house. Access to the Iowa River for canoe/kayak launch. 14 days max stay. Iowa River RV Park, 312 River Avenue South (US Route 69), Belmond, IA - BucknJeff
Jun 2017 - $22.00
We stayed in the South Equine Campground. We did not have a horse, but, there were quite a few there over the weekend. We stayed in that area because there was a pull-through FHU available. The sites are very large, mostly I'm sure to accommodate the horses. Yes, there is the horse smell if it bothers you go somewhere else. The site we stayed in was out in the sun, but, there are others , I think back-in, in the woods. I love horses and was in my element and happy for the owners that such a place was provided for them. Walking the dogs on the paved roads and huge grassy areas was enjoyable. We drove to the Beach Campground which is a more typical CG in that sites were closer together. At the present time swimming was not allowed in the lake due to e-coli and you have to walk a ways to it. The North Equine Campground is also spacious with fewer horses at the time we drove through. We preferred the South. We would definitely return. - Sunnie-Wheelhouse
Sep 2016 - $14.00
Great park with excellent access. Easy to navigate and a great place to family camp. Sewer not at site, but available on the way out. - Campers4Life2016
Jul 2015 - $14.00
We stayed in the Horse Park tent part of the campground. There were only 2 tents in the whole area. It was well kept and very private. The bathrooms and shower houses were very nice and clean with hot water. The camp host was kind and helpful. Would definitely stay there again if we are in the area. - Happy Campers from IN
Jun 2017 - $20.00
Stayed for 2 days during "Frontier Days" in Ft Dodge. The park is secluded, yet easily accessible. The Staff were very helpful and friendly. the Park Host was eager to help and was an asset to the park. We really enjoyed our stay there and will look forward to our next visit. - Linda and Jim
Jun 2015 - $20.00
I made my reservation over the internet the day before showing up at the park. Sites are supposed to be assigned but there was no assignment on the bulletin board when I arrived. The campground host lady told me to just go ahead and take a spot since the campground was almost entirely empty. The sites are arranged in a clearing along one side of the valley formed by the Des Moines River. There is no privacy between sites but they are spaced about 50 feet apart. There is electric and water service but no sewer. I have a small trailer that would fit just about anywhere but big rigs would have no problems in many of the sites. This park wouldn't be a destination for me but I would stay here again if passing through the area. - Teardrop11
Jul 2012 - $16.00
This was such a find. The Iowa State Park we normally stay in was already full so we took a chance on a Friday afternoon and drove to Dolliver Memorial because of the great reviews. It was cool to descend into a gorge carved by the Des Moines River after driving through flat cornfields for hours. The sites are large. The restrooms were spotless. The ranger was so nice checking in on how we liked our stay. On the weekends, there are kayak rentals available. Cell service is spotty because of being 200' below the cornfields, but it does exist. Would definitely stay here again. - fulltimervtravel
