We camped at Kennedy for 2 weeks around July 4 holiday. Sites are close together and include picnic table and fire ring. Our site #2 was level, some of the sites were quite sloped. The roads are narrow but manageable and trees are trimmed high enough so that was not an issue. Kennedy park does not take reservations, however it is a favorite for locals and they go stake their site out early in the week, placing a tent or vehicle on it. There are only 29 FHU sites and several of them were occupied by tenters consequently self contained rigs had to stay in W/E only sites and use dump station. The park belongs to Webster County Conservation Board. Their foot print consists of a small lake, day use park and campground. They have no apparent presence in the campground other than an occasional drive thru. They had a presence in the adjacent park and lake areas. The campground host works 2 jobs and was rarely on site. With the hands off nature of management the campground is a mess. No one follows the few posted rules. Trash all over sites and blowing around, cigarette butts everywhere, people not picking up after their pets, over crowded camp sites with 3 & 4 autos parked on the grass and speeding cars.
This could be a premier park if they would engage a camp host who is on site and observant and if the management spent at least as much time in the campground correcting problem areas as they do in the park.

If we are ever in this part of Iowa again we would probably stay at Kennedy because it is big rig friendly where some of the other campgrounds are not. We camped at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed in this park at least once a year for 3 years and have always enjoyed it. This is a county park but it has so much available to entertain everyone: a marvelous hiking trail around the lake, a nice lake, a golf course, picnic areas, boating, birding blind, dog training area. Just a lot of things available. The pads are rock and, in the 5" of rain that we had over the last night and day, we were high and dry. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic table. We have been there on weekends and weekdays and it has always been quiet though full. You need to get there early in the week for a full-hook-up site during the summer. However, there are ample water/electric sites available. We have a 35' RV and our friends have a 42' motorhome. Neither of us had trouble maneuvering. The best place to hook-up a car to the motorhome is in the parking lot of the functions building. This is a real gem of a campground and we always look forward to staying here. We camped at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park in a Motorhome.

A very nice county park. We have stayed here and will stay again. The sites were nicely sized and fairly level, most were shaded and each had a fire pit and a picnic table. There are lots of activities available, hiking around the lake, picniking, boating, fishing and there is a golf course on one side of the campground. Weekends during the summer are busy and sometimes late on Sunday, the bathrooms have a bit of sand in them. A larger rig might have a bit of trouble maneuvering but our 35' motorhome had no trouble at all. For all the people here on a weekend, it was very quiet in the evenings. We camped at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park in a Motorhome.

Nice enough setting but we were disappointed upon arrival at the actual RV park. Wall to wall campers, very tight fit for a 40' M/H. As with many county parks minimal supervision (never saw a ranger or host) often leads to abuse of the rules. Too many rigs per site and rowdy kids ignoring the quiet hours. Perhaps an OK stopover in the off-season for smaller rigs. We camped at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice family friendly county park in Fort Dodge, Iowa. We stayed on a Memorial Day weekend when all the sites were full and were pleasantly surprised when we noticed how quiet it was in the evening. The park has a golf course, a lake for swimming, fishing and boating (no gas motors allowed), picnic areas, hiking trails and a memorial amphitheater on one side of the lake. The sites were level, grassy and a picnic table and fire pit were at each site. They have wi-fi available, but it costs. They take no reservations, and it is difficult to get a spot on a holiday weekend since those in the know put a vehicle or fill in the paperwork to get a site early in the week to reserve this site for the weekend. We were lucky to get the last electric only spot on a Thursday morning and were able to switch to a full hook-up on Monday, Memorial Day, after some others had left. We have been here before and would definitely stay again. We camped at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park in a Motorhome.
