Sep 2018 - $36.00
This is a state park and we were not in state so the rate reflects a surcharge for that and the access fee as well. This is a gem of a park. Electric only but lots of space between units lots of trees and grass. Picnic table and fire ring are at each site and they were full up. We got the last site for the weekend. Not a lot around there but we were meeting friends so we were ok. Lots of areas to hike as well. - John S.
Jul 2009 - $16.00
Nice quiet area with spacious sites. Lots of hiking biking trails and roads. Pretty remote - Verizon cell phone signal weak, but it worked. Local TV stations available and satellite in some sites between trees. No water or sewer but good dump station. - fulltime.petes
Sep 2017 - $21.00
Arrived very late and rolled out early. Small campground that's rather cozy for a state park, IMO. fairly level back-in site, campground is wooded. Never encountered the campground host. Park, and campground was easy to find in the dark. Only bad part was having to back-track so much from the highway when coming up from the south. Just a quick stop on our way out west to Glacier NP.. - VW_Vista
Jul 2013 - $23.00
This was a lovely park, wooded and shade trees. Level pull through site. Electric only, water hydrants for general use, not to hookup. If water hookups available would give the place a 10. Park attendants very friendly. There is a park entrance fee along with the camping fee. The bathrooms and showers were immaculate, large and very nice. Just a great place to stay. Good hiking trails right from the campground. When ever in South Dakota hard to beat their State Park campgrounds. - welvirw89

Wow! If I read some of these reviews I wouldn't stay here either. But I looked at some of the other campgrounds in the area and I felt VERY LUCKY to find this place. It was on my Garvin GPS. We are doing a construction project in the area and plan to be wherever we stay for 3 months or more. Having looked at these other parks the thought made me cringe. This park is very HOMEY! Something I appreciate. The internet is WiFi and BLAZING FAST! The fellow running the place actually used to work for one of the major internet providers. Both of these factors are very important to me as we submit our reports to the home office daily (as well as our pay vouchers) and I spend my entire time on the road with only phone calls home. The park is EXTREMELY SHADY! Very nice since just coming from Las Vegas where I had to BEG for a site with a tree to get out of the 115 degree heat. They have a clean pool. The showers are clean but this is NOT a luxury park, so if you spent more for your rig then I spent for my house than maybe you won't be comfortable here. (I have been to parks where ONLY 38+ft pushers over $400,000 are allowed and that isn't for me either.) Though there are some nice rigs here. And NONE are like the ones you find at the park up the road where they are full time, broke down rigs, flat tires, broken out windows, window air conditioners, etc. If you can appreciate this working class style park, then don't be put off by the older reviews. Come stay as the town seems nice. This is the only place for miles around with at least 2 nice family style restaurants, a Burger King and just about everything (no Wal-Mart) that you could expect from a nice small town in this part of the country. Enjoy yourself. Have a nice trip! - pstephey

Windmill RV Park is the most beautiful setting we have been in thus far. Brings back memories of camping in the woods. Only facilities lacking are cable and Wifi but we didn't miss it. Very friendly owner. Sadly with his wife's passing after a long illness this beautiful park is for sale. - Don aLynn BC Canada
Aug 2010 - $30.00
When we stayed I felt like we had not made the best choice. The operator was not in the office but acted like we interrupted his dinner. Maybe we did. We asked what the rates were and he looked at the RV and said $30 but no water or sewer hookups. The trees needed to be trimmed low hanging limbs; the place looked to be nothing but fulltimers living in trailers. - birdbrains

We have stayed here both in the summer and in the winter and have gotten collectible Tupperware and collectible Coke products. We have friends about 3 hours away who come to visit us here when we are in South Dakota. I have stayed for a month working on a consulting project and liked it so much, we have come back at least 5 times. I used the showers every night while working on my pipeline project and they were always great. Plenty of hot water, good places for clothes to hang and they have great elbow room. The laundry room was clean and the dryer only takes one quarter to dry two loads of clothes. Owners are great for putting together tours for us and were able to get us in to see a chiropractor and in for emergency dental work. We saw them take an older gentleman to a Sioux Falls hospital when he wasn't feeling well. We highly recommend. - cincy
Sep 2004 - $10.00
Sites are right next to one another. Park is made for RVs with no slides. Can get in, but might be within 4 inches of your neighbor with slides out. Only 4 sites are 50 AMP the rest are 30 AMP. Most are grass sites a few concrete pads. All sites are back ins. The neighborhood is quiet. - Tallboy
Jul 2018 - $18.00
This is a place we will come back to again and again. The beach and swimming area beat any swimming pool in the area, especially for youngsters. The park was clean and quiet even though we went over the 4th of July. Another reason to go here is you could see the town firework show from our site perfectly. The showers are new and well kept. The only thing of note not to like is the bugs. After a big rain and in the heat you can expect bugs nestled in between a pond and a creek, but to be honest, stay by the fire or in the water and you never notice them. - sucp123
Sep 2017 - $18.00
This is a city park. There is lots of shade. It has a large pond and some kids were catching fish and having a great time. There is a golf course next to the campground. We didn't see any geese at all when we were there. The camp host was very accommodating an very friendly. There is a Blue Bunny ice cream museum and soda fountain. The ice cream was great, the museum was very disappointing. We camped here in a 5th wheel and would definitely stay here again. - DBT
Aug 2017 - $18.00
The hosts are so amazing. We talked to them several times over the course of a few months as we were making arrangements and they were just awesome. Helped me pull off a great surprise for my best friend and put us in 2 great sites next to each other. Sites are a little close for privacy but totally worth it for the peace and quiet atmosphere. Brand new shower house was built recently and it's beautiful. The lake that the campground borders is beautiful and great for swimming and fishing. The Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor is right downtown only a few miles down the road. There is no dump station on site but it's literally 3 blocks down the road. Can't beat $18 for electric and water! Will definitely be camping here again when in the area! - Dan-Nichelle Inman
Aug 2018 - $37.00
The park is part of a truck stop, motel and RV park complex. The sites are unusual in that all sites are pull through, parallel parking to an open space. It is nice in that you do not have another camper right outside your door, but then all traffic is right along side the left side of your unit. This park is very convenient to I-29, easy on-off, but there is highway noise. Most sites are long term campers. Wifi was OK. Verizon good. For overnight this was OK. Getting fuel was easy and the price was good. - Windshift
Jul 2018 - $31.00
This campground is right next to I29. To check into campground, you go to the convenience store/gas station. It is a busy area but we slept ok. We stayed one night so it satisfied our needs. There are 38 sites & ours was full hookup. There was a cement slab with a picnic table & the lawn area was well groomed. It appeared to have a few seasonal campers and it appeared that road workers had a campers there. We called to reserve a site about 6 hours before we arrived. They were full by the time we arrived. - Kelsidy
Jun 2018 - $37.00
This park is attached to a truck stop and convenience store about 15 miles to the south of Sioux Falls. It is $10/15 less than parks in Sioux Falls and is a good value if you are only passing through. The park is nice, showers are adequate and a good laundry. All sites have lawn and trees that are fairly small but growing so shade is improving each year. Highway noise is significant, especially if you sit outside. It isn't a place I'd suggest for an extended stay but makes for a pleasant one night stop from traveling. There is a store and restaurant but no pool or other amenities. Highway access is excellent and fuel is priced below most in the area. Most sites are occupied by monthly RVs so a reservation is advised. I would stay here again. - RV Camper1
Sep 2017 - $10.00
This is a city park with several RV hookups. Electric service at each site with a metal picnic table. 2 water pumps on site. Highway 29 is fenced off in the distance. We brought our dogs and it was great for them. There is a trash dumpster. There are about 4 shady spots. Rest are open. You can hear highway noise but very private from highway. We stayed overnight and really enjoyed it.
There is a convenient store at the exit nearby. Drive through town, then down a residential street to get to the park. Coming from the south there is a HyVee grocery store about 20 minutes away. We stopped on the way in and there was plenty of parking there too. $10 per night. - Missyinanairsteam
Sep 2017 - $10.00
Grass area, but we were able to level easily. Shower house was just OK. Trash at the park shelters, and cardboard recydling only. Easy access from the I-29, but surprisingly quiet. Next to a sports field so might have to deal with noise and lights on some weekends, but the Friday before Labor Day nothing was going on. This a city park, so there is a nice playground for the kids. A few monthly parkers, but $10 for electric and sewer is a steal. No dump station, but that wasn't a problem for us. - Rex Deaver
