Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

We were looking for a place in the general area to break up a long drive that would allow us to do short hikes from camp. We're self contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on a Sunday night in mid-October. This is a nice campground. NOTE: The campground will be closed from April 1, 2018 through October 31, 2018 for renovations, so this review could be irrelevant next year. The CG was half full when we arrived as there had been a festival in a nearby town over the weekend. We were nearly alone by morning. The sites with electric and water are arrayed diagonally in 2 loops and are reasonably sized. The end sites (site #70) and primitive sites were a bit larger. Parking is on gravel with grass separating the sites. The sites are fairly level, some are more shady or sunny. The shower was clean with ample hot water, yet old with plumbing issues and operated by a 15 second push button. There's no wifi. There was good Verizon cell coverage. ATT was on an extended network with cell coverage and no data. The camp host was friendly and helpful. Rates are lowered to $11 with electric/water in the off season. Dump station nearby. We camped at Lacey-Keosauqua State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a network of trails around Lacey Lake, to the Des Moines River and a bit further to Lake Sugema. There's a swim beach and (electric only) boat launch nearby.
