A nice, flat campground on a strip of land between a creek? and two lakes. The campground is part of a Le Mars City Park. In the park is a WPA common building, (locked) with bathrooms and showers, (unlocked, but I did not check). Behind the common building is a WPA picnic area, with 6 picnic shelters, (3-sided with a roof) large enough for one picnic table, a large, group picnic shelter, all arranged in a “U”, with a bonfire pit in the middle. Beyond the picnic area is the Willow Creek Golf Course, (yes, you can walk from your RV), and the beginnings of two urban hiking trails, one short and one longer. The previous comments about waterfowl are correct. There were lots of them. The geese dominated the larger lake, and the ducks were relegated to the smaller, more secluded and weedier lake. The campground is self-pay. Put the fee into an envelope, (yours) and put your name and address on the outside, and deposit it in the mailbox in front of the host’s RV. If you don’t want to put all the information on the envelope, use a check, (to City of Le Mars IA) with the required info on it. That way the payment won’t get separated from the information, and the information won’t be floating around on an envelope that will be reused. The RV Park has shared power boxes, so make sure you know where your power will be when you back in. Some sites are designated “Tent Sites” and do not have power. Some RV sites have enough of a southern exposure to receive Satellite TV. Basic Verizon phones work fine, and my Verizon modem found 4Glte service, which worked well. During your stay, be sure to visit the marble, tile and oak paneled, two story Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor and company museum, located in a historic building at 115 Central Ave, (not the old barn site by the ice cream plants), which is well worth the visit. We would definitely stay here again if we ever had an occasion to stop in Le Mars. We camped at LeMars Municipal Park - Willow Creek Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

We are so glad that we did not go by the review that was posted in 2010, decided to check out the campground first. This campground is quite acceptable, clean, cement pads for the camper and picnic table. The restrooms were clean, however the water pressure in the women's shower is a tad weak. The water pressure in the men's in great. I would like to see hand soap added to the restrooms and possibly an air vent as it does get steamy. There is about a 2 block trek from the campground to the restroom/shower facilities. The campground overlooks a small lake that has quite a bit of activity with geese and ducks. If this type of thing bothers you, don't stay here, however we like the outdoors and it is not an issue. There is a municipal golf course next door, picnic areas, a cement walking trail and it is quite close to Archie's Waeside (for a great steak) and the fair grounds. The prior review stated that there was dog waste all over the campsites. There was not and all of the people with dogs that were there were picking up their dogs messes with bags and disposing of them while we were here. We had no issues with the camp host. He stopped to chat with us several times. Perhaps as noted in the prior review, you were grouchy with him: friendliness breeds friendliness. The ONLY downfall that we had with the campground was that it is fairly close to the railroad tracks and the trains can get a tad noisy especially at night. We found it was worse on Sunday night. However, we also were in a fold down camper so that would make it worse. We would NOT hesitate to stay at this campground again and are even talking about coming to next years Blues Fest. (Thank you Camp Host for the info.) We camped at LeMars Municipal Park - Willow Creek Campground in a Tent Trailer.Undo

This could be a nice park as it has a lot of potential. It needs someone running it who cares. The Host was only interested in taking our money (cash). There was no registration to fill out, nothing. I wonder what portion of our fees went to the City? We were entertained by a bunch of kids near the lake yelling profanities and shooting off fireworks. The mosquitoes would carry you away. The fire ring was full of garbage. There was dog crap everywhere. We left early in morning just to escape this place. If I ever had to stay there again I would just drive in and park. If it's the same host they wouldn't notice..or care. We camped at LeMars Municipal Park - Willow Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.Undo

This is a campground in a city park. There is a fishing pond / fishing hole in the campground. We did not use the showers. All the sites are back-in. 30 amp electric and water is available between every other site. There is an on site campground host. There is a nice playground and frisbee golf course in the park. The city golf course is next door. Le Mars is the home of Blue Bunny Ice Cream Company. We camped at LeMars Municipal Park - Willow Creek Campground in a Motorhome.Undo
