Overall Rating:

This campground was a pleasant surprise. We were headed back to Michigan from out west. We had spend the last day or so driving and the kids could use a break. We used one of the mobile apps to find a campground off the highway an hour or so ahead of us. This one had a pool for the kids and ratings seemed ok. This was a first time experience as we usually hit up a Walmart while on the road. It was a Friday afternoon so we were surprised when they could get us right in. The girl on the phone was nice and took our information to reserve the site. Check in was very easy. We were pleasantly surprised that the club house was a real convenience store with beer/wine and an ice cream shop. Kids got ice cream, mom and dad had some cold beer. Lots of kids and families, many are nicely kept seasonal sites. Pool was nice and the kids got a few hours of swimming in before nightfall. Roads were easy to navigate with our 35' + Toad. however, it was a bit hilly and could get a little tight with a bigger rig. We had a pull through site and did not need to disconnect. This made it nice and easy to hit the road in the morning. Great place to stop over if you need a break. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Large campground, mainly on hillside. Restrooms clean and well-stocked, somewhat dated. Many seasonal and permanent sites. Many places for children to play including man-made beach and playground. Pool that is well-cared-for. Roads are coarse gravel with some tight turns. Had little contact with staff. Amana Colonies nearby and the shade at most sites beats the 'camping in a field' feeling people have expressed regarding the Amana Colonies campground. All shopping is some distance from the campground. State park nearby with Devonian Fossil Gorge. Would return. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff good. Kid friendly . Big shade trees. Older park so spaces are close and tight for bigger rigs. Easy access from I 80. A lot of highway noise. Large lagoon near spaces so it can smell. A lot of long term residents. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a one nite stop in a beautiful setting with a lake and trees. The office staff was very nice. The roads were terrible, rutted and bumpy with lots of ridges. The park needs lots of maintenance to fix the roads and the sites. Most of the sites were filled with permanent people. The cost to stay for one night was way to much for the poorly maintained roads and condition of the sites. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is an absolute disaster. We camped here in March on our way to the Winnebago factory. The park was a complete mess. Garbage every were, old broken campers, lots of residents with sites that looked like garbage dumps and lots of pot holes. Confusion on check in, because no one was around to check us in in the middle of the day. There are lots of un-level, very tight sites here. Sites were mostly dirt and mud. There are lots of trees with rotted and broken limbs. Limbs laying all over the grown. IT wold take a tree service weeks to prune and clean up this place. If you choose to camp here, look up at the trees. Lots of campers had limbs on them and had them crashing down when the wind blew. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Water has been turned off at length twice since we arrived. Noise from Hwy 80 is very loud. Bathroom showers (women) are rusted and very dirty. The problems cannot be resolved because no one is in the office. And we're completely prepaid (months ago) so we can't even withhold payment. Very frustrating when you want a nice weekend. Can't even flush the toilet. Will not stay here again. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We have a self contained unit so we did not take a shower. The restroom was ok clean, not great, not awful. The grounds are well kept. Decent area to walk around. The small lake. Nice play area and lots of outside games, activities for kids on saturdays. IMPORTANT TO KNOW - they have FIXED any sizeable ruts in the road as of the end of Aug 2017. We had no significant problems bringing in our 5th wheel. Many of the sites are on a hill but the sites are reasonably level. It is near a highway, but the site we had away from it got no road noise. It has cheap quick laundry (1.50 & .75). It felt very safe here and people were pleasant. Lots of people were vacationing for the weekend but we heard no unreasonable noise. We would stay here again. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very close to visit the 7 Amana Villages, particularly Amana itself. Very pretty and charming with shops, restaurants, beer hall, wineries. Note most shops close at 5 even on Friday night during the summer. We got there around 3pm but wish I had had 1/2 a day or a whole day to visit all the villages.

Stayed here 3 nights, got a long pull thru, easy to park in and set up. This place is BUSY! We saw tons of campers roll in at dusk, stay the night and move on. Not noisy at all from campers, some distant interstate noise. Has a really nice pond, a pool and lots to do for kids. There were a lot of families here. The office is open 8-8, but there is self check in for after hours. Over all an excellent stay. The facilities (shower, bathhouse) could use an update. Beautiful park, lots of amenities, best general store I've seen. Even though it's within eyesight of I-80, only time I heard traffic was when walking dog. Lots of shade trees. No cable, but OTA reception crystal clear. Spaces are close together. Our spot (103) was on a steep hill, but the parking area was level. Never had to use our powered levelers. Would have rated a 10 but for these factors: 1. When making reservations, I was told there was WiFi. There wasn't. Was a real pain trying to stay on top of business while we camped. Campground wifi covers only small area. 2. Roads are narrow and badly rutted, so much so that you risk an eroded area grabbing your wheel. 3. Dog walk area is a steep grade. Wear good shoes and be sure you don't have difficulty climbing hills. Also, many people failed to clean up after their dogs. Could be health hazard for your dog. Area does not appear to be checked/cleaned regularly. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

First Impression: Attractive CG, well-mowed grass, tall trees, big lake with a fountain. Safety: no concerns - peaceful. Access: Exit 230 off I-80, north about 1000', turn into CG, local road in good condition. OK signage, GPS took us right in. Office: Nice staff, store with snacks, beer, wine, few food items, souvenirs, RV equipment items. Site prices vary based on utilities. Good Sam and military/retired discounts. Reserve online adds 10% service fee with no way to claim discount. Credit cards accepted. Facilities: Big pool, no spa, no fitness room. Rec center in office with pay-games, make your own pizza. Small, clean laundry room. Restrooms clean - showers not-so-much with ancient fixtures, curtains not doors, and moldy wall tile (score "C-"). Propane sales by the tank (30# for $30). Older playground needs painting. No fenced dog run. Campground: Open with limited spaces in winter. Not in a flood plain. Interior roads are narrow, badly potholed and rutted, dirt/gravel with "be careful" turns and low hanging branches. Challenging for long rigs. Sites are all spacious, back-in and pull-through. No tent area but cabins are available to rent. Sites are grass/gravel. Back-in #40 not enough gravel for my 40' fiver so I put tires on the grass. Utilities at mid-rig; metered for monthly renters. Low water pressure with good taste. No patios. Tired picnic tables. Open fires permitted in fire rings; buy wood in office. Good satellite views. No cable TV. OTA TV found 18 channels. Free Wi-Fi with weak coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 4 bars; 4G at 5 bars. No railroad, aircraft, or local traffic noise; distant interstate noise acceptable. No recycle bins. Bug Report: small, biting flies, no ants noted (late May). Runners: CG roads marginal for running, no fitness room so no treadmills. Yoga: Except for the grass, no really good place for your mat. Conclusion: Apparently a weekend getaway spot for the locals. Not bad for a night or two. Nearest town is 10 miles away. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Oxford, IA, about 4 miles north, is small with 1 convenience store and fuel (not sure about diesel). Drive 10 miles east on I-80 to Coralville (exit 240) for major chain restaurants (Red Lobster, Perkins, Olive Garden, etc), Walmart, Lowe's, Hobby Lobby, nice sized mall with Target, Casey's General Store across from Walmart diesel at $2.399.

Booked last minute on the phone as we were not going to get as far as we hoped. This is a large park with a pond, pool, playground, volleyball and a store with basic supplies. Many of these things were not available as we were there in October. Most all of the camping sites are cut into a hill and not paved, so it was a bit difficult getting level. Full hookups available. There are a lot of permanent trailers here, nicely shaded and has a dump station. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

We camp in a "Tear Drop style RV" only 15' long w/o toilet or shower and thus rely on campgrounds facilities ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Facility is in need of some TLC ~ especially gravel roadway @ entrance (office) down the hill to the interior roads which are full of ruts ~ all they need is some new gravel. (the inner gravel roads are fine) Then there's the restroom/showers; a trip to local Home Depot in Iowa City for some paint, updated fixtures, new shower mats for the floor, new shower curtains, add hooks and shelving in the sink/vanity area for your things, and add paper towels that most campers would use to "clean up" (wipe down) their sink area after their use, but w/o them there's no way to do it and that area gets messy (They do clean the restrooms - but still - and grounds keeper is on site keeping things around camp tidy) There is little air movement inside even though there is a large fan/blower at the one end; it's not effective making it "stuffy" inside. So for all my suggested remarks my rating is still a 7 Good . . . because it's all related to improving conveniences since the rest of the park is very functional. Yes some sites are on a small hill making leveling inconvenient, but you can always ask to move; after all this IS a campground and not billed as a 5 star resort with cement pads and patio's . . .after all. We will be back again and again. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Noisy until after 2:30 am! No guest assistance oversight. Streets and sites not remotely maintained. Bumpy dirt/gravel streets in the campground actually help slow traffic in a park. These will destroy your undercarriage and dump your contents even at idle speed. Showers gross with mildew. Don't expect rest or service. Overall Rating:

We stayed for 2 nights. Initially, we were very put-off about the sites because the roads are tight and difficult to navigate (gravel with ruts), and the sites are far from level. We use the Andersen leveling system that maxes out at 4 1/2". It was maxed out, and our 5th wheel was still not exactly level but close enough to work. Our site was situated on the hill, so the picnic table was on an incline, and the last step out of our RV was a big one. Our kids were also unimpressed with the playground equipment.

Now, with all that being said, we LOVED our stay at Sleepy Hollow! The kids fished their hearts out in the lake/pond and caught tons of sunfish and a couple of bullheads. Other kids caught catfish nearby. They also fed the ducks and got to see a mother duck sitting on her eggs. We swam in the pool, and the kids loved family movie night in the picnic shelter. The little store where you check in has a good variety of necessities, plus ice cream, a slush machine, and local wines. There were coordinated games and activities, and they have themed weekends throughout the season. There are also recumbent bikes and golf carts for rent. The atmosphere was so family-friendly and inviting, and the owners were friendly. When it came time to pack up and leave, none of us wanted to go. It was certainly a change from our first impression. Needless to say, we will be back again in the future! We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
