6 Parks near Tama, Iowa
Jul 2016 - $19.00
others have said, excellent sites, good electricity. But, do not bother making a reservation. There is no system in place to actually reserve a spot for you. When I called ahead about late arrival, I was told to just pick a spot then go to hotel to register. No spot was saved for me. - John McK

I was pretty surprised by this park after the last one we were in that was really bad. The sites were level and concrete with electric only but they have water and a dump on site. The restaurant was really nice and and so was the casino. The RV park also had clean showers and restrooms and a decent laundry. I would recommend for a great overnight stay. - openroad4me
Sep 2015 - $19.00
Never stayed at a Casino RV Park before. This was really very nice, too bad power only. 50 spaces, all pull through and about 50' long. Roads were blacktop, pads are cement, picnic table, grass, and young shade trees. The bathrooms are card controlled, and very clean. The laundry looked nice, 3 washers, 3-dryers. Antenna TV was great! The grounds are very clean and neat and maintained constantly as it is all part of the hotel grounds. Very well lit with security everywhere, it's a casino what else.
When you pull off US30 you'll start on a road toward the big hotel, watch for a sign directing RV's to the right. This will take you around the hotel to the rear where this surprising little park is. It is a sort of double check in.
Check-in at the park office and get a spot assigned, with that in hand you go up to the hotel office, easy walk mostly indoors, and register at your assigned spot, pay for your stay, and get cards for the bathrooms.
The casino is amazing. Lights and bells constantly with the digital music that these new age "slot machines" make. And the dealers and the table games, a huge bingo hall, and even OTB. Along with all this is three very nice restaurants, and even a food court like at a big mall.
Everyone is very nice and go out of their way to help you. Yes, I understand that want you to gamble, but we didn't and it was not a problem. We would come back, it was fun. - Jack B
Aug 2014 - $21.00
The good: laid back place, kid friendly, playground equipment (some new, some old, all in good shape), sand on the volleyball court, lots of fire rings, friendly staff & campers, no excessive noise from other campers (stayed on a Friday night). The bad: dirt road for the last half mile (rig might get dusty or muddy), men's bathroom/shower was a little dark/dated/rough but no bad smells or mess, and wasn't nervous about using them, the couple of the roads are a little tight in some turns, but the big rigs can make it through no problem with a little forethought. Not quite enough picnic tables, and a few more shade trees are needed. Would definitely recommend this place if you have kids for 5 to 15, would not hesitate to stay here again. - Medford
Sep 2011 - $21.00
Very pleasant and well thought out park. If you do not like kids this is not for you. The owner has taken great pride in providing a clean well kept RV park. The one major problem if you do not get full hook up is the location of the "Dump Station", you need to plan ahead before using it. I will be back to this park. Great location also for the casino. - rving4fun
Jul 2011 - $20.00
This campground is one of my favorites. The holiday weekends are so much fun with all the activities, I wish they had a sand volleyball court, we had two injuries from playing on the hard ground but it was still a good time! - User2191
Jun 2013 - $25.00
We stayed here before about 6 years ago. Everything is the same. It's a nice, little campground with good facilities. The mother-daughter owners keep it looking cared for. We suffered from many mosquitoes, so couldn't stay outside the rig like we wanted. Anytime we need a campground in the area of Marshalltown, IA, this is the one we will use. - rvrose

Take the two previous reviews and moderate both and you have a fair review of this campground. Yes it is family run by a Mother/Daughter combo that sometimes appear somewhat eccentric. Yes, rules posted and printed are somewhat harsh and intimidating, but rarely monitored or enforced. My dog (Hank) and I were in residence here for two months, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The campground provided what we needed!!! Clean, well maintained, level sites. We are self contained and need not the showers/washrooms. Certainly not a lot of amenities: privacy and location were our requirements. I will be coming back and will stay here again. - macgyver51
Jun 2010 - $24.00
We loved this park. It was very small and very well maintained. Aside from amenities at the site (50amp full hook ups) there really isn't anything else here, though. But it's a good stop over for a visit to the Giant Tree House. The tour was FABULOUS and great for kids BTW, and we highly recommend it for adults too. It was very quiet and peaceful setting. - Danni

We stayed here 3 nights while visiting friends in the area. Riverview Park is on the NE side of Marshalltown. Tall trees and roomy park grounds are a plus as well as access to the local bike trail. We had a full hook-up but were glad to move to a gravel site as a grassy site can quickly get spongy with rain. The campground hosts were very helpful. - gbburgess
Jul 2014 - $12.00
Nicest campground host! We drove to the sign-in kiosk, grabbed an envelope, then drove to our 100% level grass site. Before we could park between the trees, the host rushed over to check that we'd picked a dry spot after this day's heavy rain. After we set up, she sweetly returned to be sure that we had everything we needed for the night. All this at a campground that is self-serve! Lots of mature trees. Very few mosquitoes. Great walking path around the pond and tennis courts. $12 electric. $17 full hook ups. Inside I could not hear the many trains pulling through downtown blocks away. We did stay the night during racing season, and the cars could be heard inside, but not when the air conditioner was running. Highway 14 near the park is currently paved with a texture that makes quite a rumbling noisy annoyance. We may return. - AluminumCloud
Nov 2015 - $11.00
This is a beautiful campground right on the Rock Creek, which looks more like a river. However, there is not a level site in the entire campground. All sites are grass and very soft ground. This is not a campground for motorhomes or even larger fifth wheels. We stayed one night, had blocks under our jacks, and by morning the blocks had sunk in the ground 8 - 12" and we had to dig our jacks out. I would not recommend this campground to anyone with a larger RV. I rated this campground the way I did because of the unlevel sites and very soft ground. - kwikkeys10
Jun 2015 - $16.00
My daughter and I stayed here for an overnight in a Class B RV. We arrived and the host was very helpful. We took a spot right on the lake. It was not level but we wanted to be by the lake for the evening. The campground was very clean and people were nice. We were there during the week and it was not crowded at all. We used the 30 amp hookup. If we were in our old Class A pusher it would have been tight getting around. This spot is great for smaller motorhomes and trailers but there seemed to be a few spots for the big ones. We'd stay again for sure. - Flash

Sites vary in size, most are available with electricity. Water is available in the campground, fill up before you park. Sites on the south loops of the park are grass, and you are welcome to park anywhere in the wide site. Our chosen location on the wide site was mostly level. Trees shade many sites, but there are no privacy bushes. Sites that back up to each other can put you close to your neighbor, and there is no vegetation for privacy. Nice playground. Boat rentals are available at the marina. Boat trailer parking is near the campground entrance. Few people use the multi-use trails, we met only four runners, and two ladies on horseback. Our dog enjoyed her run, and brief wades into the lake. The park is a reasonable 20 mile/25 minute drive to one of the few remaining Drive-In Theaters - this seasonal theater is located in Newton, IA. Verizon phone and wifi coverage was strong. We will return. - AluminumCloud
