Our experience has not been as positive as others who have stayed here. I believe that the particular site assigned, as well as the length of time one stays, makes a significant difference in the quality of the site. Once we indicated that we were staying just overnight, and then on our way, no full hookups were available. Water and electric only. A dump station is present on the campground. However, our site, #81, is raised, narrow and uneven, from front to back as well as from side to side. Difficult to get our coach leveled. A positive note is that the site is out in the open, allowing our satellite dish to lock on to a signal. I doubt that we would return unless nothing else was available. Although this park gets very high marks from Good Sam, I'm not sure they are quite that high. The cleanliness of the central bathrooms is sketchy; although, the shower had good water pressure and was clean. The first site I was in (#3) was very narrow and sloped off steeply at the back. I was barely able to get my 32' rig to fit without excessive leveling assistance. Then I had to park my toad on that downward slope. The sites are quite narrow. I had to unhook before pulling in, even though sites are advertised as pull through. The sites in the row behind #3 appear to be fine. They are longer and more level. Ask for 16-20. Those appear to be the big rig sites they assign for FHU. There was another area for FHU up on the hill, but again those sites were very close together and not very long. WiFi was good. Pool was clean. It was nice and quiet until the tent campers came in on the weekend (Fri and Sat), and then the 10pm quiet time was not enforced. Loud noises until 12:30am. So it was a nice, pretty park--just not a 9, IMO. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

Next door to shot gun range. I read reviews and asked questions about this campground. No one said anything about the shotgun range just on the other side of the tree line, yards away. When loud blasts began the first morning we were there, I actually thought we were under attack. I'm used to being around guns but since they will not tell you, I will. Other than that, it was a pretty place. A little crowded for Iowa, we thought. You look out your window and right into the next door neighbor's. Picnic tables barely fit between campers. Mature trees, well placed. Don't go into the tree lines. There's lots of poison ivy, oak and sumac. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

Very nice campground and staff with some shady and some very sunny spots. I would stay here again. Only a couple miles from I-80, so no road noise. Sites are gravel, but not that level. Interior roads also gravel, so there is dust, even going slow. Therefore, keeping it from a 10. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Can't find anything wrong with this place. A short jaunt off I-80 just west of Des Moines, but well worth it. Relaxing restful place amid tall trees. Couldn't ask for more. They have a RV wash house, too. If you're traveling across Iowa, don't miss this place. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

Wow! What an RV park. Everything was wonderful except the WiFi which seemed to lean toward Apple and cough at a PC. The restrooms were wonderful. Talk about quiet and pastoral. We would stay here again for sure. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Truck Camper.Undo

Park was clean and well run with friendly check in. Spaces were a little too close together for us with some confusion with alternating pull-in and back-in sites, and figuring out which fire pit and which picnic table belonged to which site. There were nice grassy open area for games, etc. The pool was clean and well maintained. The one big issue for us was the dump station -- we had an electric / water site so needed to empty out tanks before leaving; however, the location was terrible and sloped downhill, making it an almost impossible task. This needs to be changed. Overall, for one night, it was more than satisfactory. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Very pretty entrance, winding roads, many shade trees. Be careful if you want WiFi; it is not available except right up by the office. We were given a site that was very unlevel; we had to change but they let us switch. We were directed to go into the site the wrong way; the utilities would have been on the wrong side of the coach. We figures that out, too! We had planned to stay 3 nights, and paid for 3 nights, but when we discovered the lack of WiFi at the site, they let us pay one night only. We left the next morning. There is a discount for cash or check. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

Overnight stop in this very pretty park. Very quiet location. Park is currently being improved and our site was pull-through, but very close to next motorhome. Very poor Wi-Fi and phone communications. Did not use any other facilities (pool, bathrooms, etc) but would stay here again. A lot of shopping nearby. Stayed here on Good Sam rate. Friendly staff, super quiet and beautiful. The drive into Des Moines is easy with good access to plenty of shopping and things to do. We found the campground clean and nicely run. We would return and camp there again. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

Interior roads are gravel, and sites are mostly level. Over-the-air TV is excellent. Verizon hot spot works well. Rate was with Good Sam discount and a small cash discount, water and electricity only. A dump station is nearby and handy. We shared a pedestal with another rig - one faced east, the other west. Our slide outs were very close, but we had lots of room on the other side. Seems to be many rigs here for the summer. We were just overnight. Swimming pool was not open yet. We'd stay here again. Park open Apr 1 - Nov 1. Site gravel and fairly level. Strong Wi-Fi. Options for pull-thru/back-in, W&E or full hook-ups. Pleasant country setting. Very nice and helpful management. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.Undo

Beautiful campground over the rolling wooded hills of Iowa. Nice pool and grounds. The WiFi works well only if you are close to the antenna. If your space is along the outer reaches of the park the WiFi will be bad. Rest rooms were just OK, clean but needed work. One toilet was so loose I almost fell off. Yes, I would stay here again. Beautiful country setting with rolling hills and large, mature trees. Peaceful! Sites with full hookups were full. We had electric and water only. No problem! Other reviews report sites are not level and some may find that problematic. We leveled in our 42' pull-through with tow as we stayed in an overnight spot. It was easy in and easy out and no need to disconnect. The pool, rec-room, shower and bath facilities were nice and comfy. Management was friendly and helpful and I would stay again.
