The good news the current owner just purchased the park in May of 2017. The park has been here for 45 years, rigs were much smaller than. He has purchased an additional 22 acres to expand and improve. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Staff is excellent. You are guided to your site and they help you to park. Roads are narrow and turns are tight. Sites are just long enough for a big rig. Car/pickup parking is elsewhere. It is quiet and the pool is nice. Notes on sites 70-90: excellent wifi and satellite TV. But these sites are quite unlevel, and there are no sewers. There is a dump station. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Loved the natural setting--roads have not been bulldozed into a "parking lot" scenario. Individual sites are fairly level. Fairly close to I-80 but no highway traffic noise! Pet park available but no grass--only rock in the fenced area. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Very tight roads in the section we were in. Very tight spaces. Plenty of unused big rig spots we should have been placed at. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice pool. Amenities for kids seem ok. Dog park is a fenced in area of hot rocks baking in the sun. Not great for dogs' feet.

Very freindly staff. The roads in the park are narrow. This park has a lot to offer, just needs a little TLC. Just far enough from the I80 to be quiet. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Timberline Campground in Waukee Iowa is our go to campground when we are in the area. It is a little expensive, about the same as a KOA, but its closeness to Des Moines and to Bob's family and friends make it worth the $. As it usually turns out when we have been somewhere before our GPS devices agreed on the route and brought us right to the campground. Sometimes, someplace we have never been before we might have issues, but not today. We were surprised to learn at checkin that as of May the campground has new owners. So far things appear to be as they were before which was encouraging. The interior roads are gravel as is the site. There is a concrete patio. This was the first time for us in the trees but it all worked out. We backed up enough in our pull-thru to get on the patio but still be in the trees somewhat with great satellite signal strength. We balanced all that and we are glad we were in the trees as we had some 90-90 days, highs in the 90s and humidity in the 90s. Just a typical summer day in Iowa. We had some rain and wished there was a little more gravel as the site got a little muddy. And we wished the sites were a little further apart. The hookups were convenient once we settled on our stopping point. The free park wifi was fairly good except in high traffic times. Since we are so close to Des Moines the Verizon 4g and cellphone signal strength was pretty good. As mentioned before this is our go to place in central Iowa so we will definitely stay here again. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful setting and close to metro Des Moines. Four miles to a spectacular shopping mall. However, if you need a full service pull-through site you will be very disappointed. Sites are short and extremely close to each other. If you have slides on both sides, good luck. We had trouble leaving in the morning due to autos and pick ups blocking our exit. If not for a good Samaritan, we could not have left. Water/electric sites are large and open. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a pretty good park, not great. We had full hook-ups but our site and many others weren't level, either side to side for front to back. Our patio was full of debris from nearby trees. Over-the-air antenna TV was ok. Too many trees for our satellite TV antenna and Verizon data signal was weak. Many seasonal sites so on week-nights many weren't occupied. Other campers were quiet. Lots of Father's Day gatherings. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We were so disappointed with this campground. We were given a spot that barely fit our rig, we had to move our picnic table and the one next to us just to get in our site. The only place to park was directly across, in front of our rig. We had to move our pickup when our neighbors arrived so they could unhook their pickup. If the neighbor on the other side had not moved his pickup the next morning for us we would have had to back out. Our sewer hookup was underneath the neighbors slide out. Check in was ridiculously slow. The park itself looks well maintained and some of the sites looked really nice. Wifi worked if you are in the office, Verizon signal was good. I do not know how long you have to stay here to get a site that you can function in but we will not be going back to find out. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A nice park with older but cared for facilities. Setting is nice, it just happens to have an odd layout resulting in most sites being "KOA" close. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed over night in pull-through. The park is very attractive, shady, quiet and well thought-out. A very restful place to stay. GPS directions are a little off so call the park to verify. I would come back again and stay longer if possible. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Picked this as just as a spot to get off the road 4th of July weekend, we had reservations in Colorado on the 5th.

Nice older park with mature trees - forget about using your satellite dish. Owners very nice and helpful. Trees are well trimmed and no interference with a big rig on the roads. Roads look tight coming in, but it is doable.

Hilly with narrow sites. Most sites are long enough, but RV's are very close side to side in most areas. Our site was wide open on the right side, probably five feet from the trailer on our left! Plenty of pull throughs.

This was one of the quieter places we have ever stayed! Even on a holiday weekend. Lots of families and kids, but not a lot of noise even during the day and dead quiet after 10 PM. Quite a few tent campers scattered through the park.

Unlike some other reviewers we did not hear anything other than a handful of pops from the skeet range.

Most sites have full hookups, we moved to one without sewer to try to get satellite to work, no luck. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

My husband and I stayed at Timberline Campground in Waukee IA in July 2016. The check-in process was quick and efficient, with a friendly staff person helping me. The park is very clean and the sites were large enough for our 34-foot fifth wheel, although they are a bit close together, but still maneuverable. We stayed on Lot 50, which is a pull-through site with a level gravel pad. We stayed here to be close to Raccoon River Sports Complex in Des Moines, which was only 15 minutes away. We would stay at Timberline again. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pull thrus for big rig not easy getting in. Or getting out. You also have to unhook tow. They charge a fee for credit card use. Trying to use the dump station, however people park their vehicles in the way, making a turn very hard without damaging your rig, or a big tree. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.
