Electric, water and WiFi were all adequate. The park is lovely with much green space and mature trees. There is a small camp store on site. It is plagued by a gun range that sounds to be just NE of the park. We travel in a 43 foot fifth wheel and a long body king cab truck. I was very clear about this when making reservations. Our site was easy in, and a 45 minute nightmare to get out of, dodging trees rocks and fences. Clearly it would have been to our advantage to have walked the site instead of trusting staff. I believe they would have accommodated a request if they could. At least half of the sites require 90 degree turns to get in and out. Sites are narrow with, as mentioned, multiple obstacles. Big Rigs be alert. Sites 72-90 looked more appropriate for big rigs. Perhaps they didn't put us there due to gun noise? We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Don't stay here if you are bothered by gunfire. The camp is next to a very loud skeet and trap gun range and you can see rifle carrying people walking less than 20 yards from your window. Additionally the sites are narrow, short and very cramped. Our awning if opened would almost touch the next camper. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

1. Caution for animals or vets with Gun related PTSD issues. There is an active gun range next to the RV Park that some clearly reacted to. 2. The park was very clean and the staff very friendly. 3. The sites were gravel and our front wheels were 5 inches off the ground after leveling. This is a very busy park during the holidays and reservations are strongly recommended. PROS: Quiet at night, friendly staff, clean area, shade trees in some sites, dog areas clean. The next closest park was $10.00 more a night! CONS: Gun range - guns were firing on 3 days of the 3 day weekend and very close. Some sites very small and some very uneven only a few full hookups as most were without sewer. Some sites have trees that will hinder how you set up. We had to move our rig twice as one tree rubbed against our closed awning and another prevented full slideout extension. Will we be back. Maybe. This is the closest to our family but wish the range wasn't there as our dog couldn't stay due to the gun noise throughout the day. Our dog was a wreck when we returned and shivered with every round that fired. We had to find an alternative place for our pet. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Sites are very close to the point that you cannot open your awning or else you would collide with your neighbor. The site next to ours was also on the passenger side. That made it too close to open awnings. Other sites were not that way. Site was level with a very small concrete patio. Picnic table is in need of repair. The location is nearby West Des Moines with great shopping and many good restaurants. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Taste of New York pizza is like I use to get in NY. Also Jethro's, (several in the area) is also very good. The one I went too is Jethro's BBQ 'n Bacon Bacon.

For the price it was a little disappointing. Had a shared site with the next RV very close. The showers at the office were very small and awkward to use. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park with amazing views, sites are gravel and our site (56) was a bit tight for our 45' rig. However, all of this is soon forgotten when you step outside and enjoy the big beautiful trees and green grass all around. The owners are extremely nice and seem to go out if thier way to make you feel comfortable. Lots of trees so the shade was welcoming, some sites would have difficulty with a satellite signal but we didn't. I don't have many negatives to say about this park, the grounds are well maintained and very relaxing. I would definitely come here again. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

An average park that could be exceptional with updating and reconfiguration. Our second stay here while visiting nearby West Des Moines. This park has a great setting, not far from Interstate 80. Highway noise isn't too bad. The park is just older and has a strange, "KOA" like cramped layout. Facilities are older, and not that clean. If they would remove ~1/3 of the sites, it would make it easier to get around and really be worth the $$. I'd also put the long term, work campers in one section to create more space for the visiting campers. Heavy rains made the down slope sites soggy and muddy. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff is excellent. You are guided to your site and they help you to park. Roads are narrow and turns are tight. Sites are just long enough for a big rig. Car/pickup parking is elsewhere. It is quiet and the pool is nice. Notes on sites 70-90: excellent wifi and satellite TV. But these sites are quite unlevel, and there are no sewers. There is a dump station. The good news the current owner just purchased the park in May of 2017. The park has been here for 45 years, rigs were much smaller than. He has purchased an additional 22 acres to expand and improve. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Timberline Campground in Waukee Iowa is our go to campground when we are in the area. It is a little expensive, about the same as a KOA, but its closeness to Des Moines and to Bob's family and friends make it worth the $. As it usually turns out when we have been somewhere before our GPS devices agreed on the route and brought us right to the campground. Sometimes, someplace we have never been before we might have issues, but not today. We were surprised to learn at checkin that as of May the campground has new owners. So far things appear to be as they were before which was encouraging. The interior roads are gravel as is the site. There is a concrete patio. This was the first time for us in the trees but it all worked out. We backed up enough in our pull-thru to get on the patio but still be in the trees somewhat with great satellite signal strength. We balanced all that and we are glad we were in the trees as we had some 90-90 days, highs in the 90s and humidity in the 90s. Just a typical summer day in Iowa. We had some rain and wished there was a little more gravel as the site got a little muddy. And we wished the sites were a little further apart. The hookups were convenient once we settled on our stopping point. The free park wifi was fairly good except in high traffic times. Since we are so close to Des Moines the Verizon 4g and cellphone signal strength was pretty good. As mentioned before this is our go to place in central Iowa so we will definitely stay here again. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice pool. Amenities for kids seem ok. Dog park is a fenced in area of hot rocks baking in the sun. Not great for dogs' feet.

Loved the natural setting--roads have not been bulldozed into a "parking lot" scenario. Individual sites are fairly level. Fairly close to I-80 but no highway traffic noise! Pet park available but no grass--only rock in the fenced area. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a pretty good park, not great. We had full hook-ups but our site and many others weren't level, either side to side for front to back. Our patio was full of debris from nearby trees. Over-the-air antenna TV was ok. Too many trees for our satellite TV antenna and Verizon data signal was weak. Many seasonal sites so on week-nights many weren't occupied. Other campers were quiet. Lots of Father's Day gatherings. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Travel Trailer.
