We stayed here for one night while preparing to take our 5th wheel in for service at Nu-Way. I'll just repeat what the post from Sept. says. It is rather noisy; but not impossibly so. If you don't mind "no-frills", this is a great choice while in the area. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to visit friends-luxury was not our objective. It's basically a barren parking lot with a few trees. Pull-through sites on east side of the ball field, back-ins on the west. As an RV park, this isn't much above a Wal-Mart parking lot. Services are minimal (no sewers, no picnic table, unclean and cramped rest & shower rooms, no laundry, located on a busy/noisy highway intersection) but each site does have a trash can and there is a dump station premises. That said, the dominant theme here is that the FIRST TWO NIGHTS ARE FREE! This is related to the unique high end Kansas RV resale & repair facility located nearby, providing a convenient overnight stay for waiting customers. The setting is a large and well-manicured city park sports complex. We were appreciative of having this opportunity. Although there is no dog park, there are acres of close cropped grass and plenty of trees surrounding the complex, a nearby large Wal-Mart store and plentiful fuel and shopping opportunities. We stayed in an asphalt pull-through site with side-by parking for our tow vehicle for two nights. Very basic, very Spartan, but would definitely do it again. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I'll just repeat and agree with the poster from May 2018. For free for the first two nights it's a fantastic value. No real negatives except lack of sewer connection at the sites. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Motorhome.

We spent a couple of nights here as we prepared to drop our 5th wheel off for service at NuWa. My guess is that over half the RVers who come to this city campground are here because of NuWa service and sales. No one can argue with the price: free for the first two nights, then just $10 a night after that. The campsites are basically parking lot sites with 30/50 amp electric and water. There is a dump station on site. This city campground even offers free WiFi! There are two sections. The east side is closest to S. Santa Fe Ave. and has all pull through sites and has the good WiFi signal. The west side sites are all back in and are close to restrooms (not well kept) and beyond the range of the WiFi. However, the sites are a bit wider and longer. They are also close to the dump station. We spent one night in the eastern section and then moved to a back in spot so we could stay hooked up and be ready to report in to the service center early the next morning. Some of the pull through sights are are just barely wide enough for two RVs. People who are trading RV's park the two rigs "face to face" so they can more easily move their belongings to their new digs. This is perhaps the only time you'll ever see a RVer happy to have another rig parked very close by! While Chanute isn't exactly a tourist destination, this is a great small town campground for a great price. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I was impressed that the first two nights are free and then it is $10.00 a night for a maximum of 10 nights. We were here for warranty work on our camper, so having the two free nights was great. We stayed at the area closer to the intersection and although the road was not that far away, it was still quiet. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I've reviewed this park before. There have been two significant changes since then. The backin sites on the west side of the park now have 20/30/50A power also. The old golf course is now a recreation area with a walking trail, frisbee golf course, playground and dog park. They also have something I've never heard of called "foot golf". We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Visited Chanute for camper repairs at the NuWa factory. As per earlier reports, first 2 nights are free, $10 per night thereafter. Maximum 10 nights in any 30 day period. There are 2 sections. The larger is at the intersection. The smaller is at the location of the dump station and bathrooms about .1 mile up the road. The smaller can get very busy when games are being played in the adjacent softball/baseball field. Spectators are numerous and parking is at a premium. Nobody parked blocking any sites while we were there. 50/30/20 amp service plus water. Lot is fully paved. Great value. We were 9 nights in Chanute while camper was being repaired. Not a whole lot to do in Chanute. Ample restaurants, Walmart. Safari Museum was nice. Go see it. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground itself is a parking lot. However, the adjacent municipal park is very nice with fishing, hiking, dog park, several baseball/softball diamonds and frisbee golf. The sites on the west side are 30A but much longer than the 50A sites on the east side. Most people are here for the nearby RV service facility.

First 2 nights are free. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Good place to stay if you're visiting the area. Baseball diamonds are right next to the campsites so you have entertainment most weekends. The price is right, you pay nothing for the first two nights. The park is large and there is lots of room for walking your dog. Verizon MiFi, AT&T phones and Dish Satellite worked very well in the campground. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Only place close to KC RV center when we headed there for recent repairs. Nice city park and baseball fields adjacent. Good pull through sites just off rather busy main street, though we didn't really notice the noise at night. Definitely a value, the first 2 nights are free and then only $10 nightly. Gravel pull thru site, fairly level, but rather muddy in the am after an early morning thunderstorm. 50 amps, good H2O pressure. Dump site was on the other side of the park where there are also some shorter back-in sites. Will stay again when we return for further repairs at KC RV Center. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

At the suggestion of KC RV center, enjoyed a hearty breakfast at The Grain Bin; however, they only accept cash. Lunch at El Pueblito also very good. Walmart is just adjacent, and very close to the park.

This city park hasn't changed over the years. It's free the first 2 nights then $10/night. Paved sites and roads. One side pull throughs the other side of the ball fields it's backin sites. No sewer but there is a dump station. Water and 30a and 50a sites. Some trees but rooftop dish worked as the OTA TV antenna. It's on the corner of 2 busy roads so there is road noise. There is a nearby Wal-mart and several restaurants. City WiFi worked some of the time. Verizon cell and hotspot worked well. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Actually free for first 48 hrs, then $10 for up to 10 nights. Very clean and neat park almost downtown. City wifi fair. Most here are 5th wheels awaiting service from local dealer. We would stay here again at double the price. No tv reception UNLESS you have satellite. Somebody comes by at 9 am to get $ if any due. We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed on east side of park with the pull thrus. Pull thrus are nice but if it was full, it would be tight with our 40' 5th wheel. Watch the trees, especially if you have a satelite you would like to use. We didn't have water, which was ok for us, didn't need it. And it was January. Really appreciated the free 50A service while waiting to take the rv in for service (1st 48 hrs are free, $10/night after). Dump on west side of park if you need it. Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small city operated campground in a beautiful city park complex. There are two areas, one next to a fairly busy road and the other a little more secluded. The latter has only back-in sites, with one pull up site, while the other area is all pull-thrus. Many campers who stay here are customers of the NuWa factory, now called Kansas RV Center. There is no charge to stay for several days (sorry...we never stayed more than 4-5 days and don't know the time limit). The main point we want to stress is to watch for the overhanging branches of the trees at the campground and throughout the park. While there for some minor repair work, we snagged the edge of our roof on a limb and ended up having to have a new roof put on. We were told this is an almost common problem at the campground. Beware! We camped at Santa Fe Park in a Fifth Wheel.
