Rate was $19.20 for an electric-only site. The sites are somewhat level and gravel. The water was not on and the restrooms were still locked but the power was on. The self check-in rates were confusing and we paid what appeared to be the correct rate for power only. The section we stayed in was on what looked like an arm extending out into the lake. I think we were the only campers in the entire park. Not sure why but maybe it is still considered winter, even though the temperature was 82. A nice overnight stay. We camped at Cheney State Park, West Shore in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

We stopped here for one night in our motorhome so our review will be limited in scope. We are in the off season and had a large site with electric, facing the lake - all to ourselves! In season It is meant for two camping units. The water had been turned off for the winter. After driving around the park for some time due to the confusing signage, and equally confusing price structure we located a camp host who did not come out of his trailer to talk with us but was able to let us know where we could camp, and how much the fees were. After getting settled in, it was a nice, quiet restful place. We camped at Cheney State Park, West Shore in a Motorhome.Undo

We spent 75 nights here between April 1 and September 20. It's a great park to camp in even if it's just for overnight if you are passing through. My daily rate listed is a result of having an annual Kansas State Park camping permit, otherwise the daily rate is $18.00 a night and requires a $4.20 vehicle permit. What a find! We were desperate to find a place and we just happened on this park. The sites are huge! We had a view of the lake and beautiful prairie grass swept out forever on the side of our RV. It was quiet, it was beautiful, and well worth a destination. We were only able to stay one night but we hope to get back there soon. It's a few miles off the interstate, but well worth the drive.
