Overall Rating:

Brand new RV Park in the heart of Dodge City. Enormous concrete pull thru sites could be more level sloping side to side. Lots of room between sites with lush grass lawns, picnic tables and fire pits. Some of the sites are so big that the placement of the FHU pedestals all the way to the back is problematic. Very nice office housing laundry and showers. Wifi was sporadic, needing to use ATT hotspot on occasion. Although the park is located physically close to the main drag (Wyatt Earp Blvd, where most of the attractions are) it's not really walkable with numerous very active railroad tracks to cross. We did ride our bike in and that worked well. Park is adjacent to a waterpark and zoo. Being new, GPS has problems routing into it. Coming from East GPS tries to take you down roads that don't go thru. Would suggest 14th street to Park Road from the West...much simpler and direct. Only real downside here are the frequent trains passing and blowing horns at the many road crossings. For all the movie hype and dramatic sounding history, there really isn't much going on in this town. Boot Hill Museum is pretty much it, with a recreated Front street façade and nice exhibits, describing the brief but colorful boomtown days in the 1870's. After the cattle drives stopped the town pretty much closed down except for farming, which is still the main local economy. We stayed 4 nights thinking that there would be more to see and do, but one or two days would be ample. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed for one night passing through. Nice new park with new infrastructure and wide, concrete pads. Spacing was adequate. Did not have to detach as the sites are quite long. Easy walk to Boot Hill museum. The adjacent Long Branch Lagoon water park would be great for kids. Wifi and water pressure were average. No trees, so no shade but satellite friendly. We were there mid-week and it was practically empty. However..., the grass is full of stickers and my dogs hated that. The adjacent dog park was also full of stickers in the grass. Poorly placed hookups at the rear of the site, so if you don't want to detach, the sewer connection can be lengthy. There's no security and locals are regularly driving and walking through. You are right next to the zoo, so you can smell the bison depending on the direction of the wind. There's no pool or other amenities that would make it a "resort", so consider it just an RV park. Don't follow your GPS down 4th street - best to go to 14th Ave and then east on Park Street. If I were return to Dodge City, I would still stay there again given the convenient location, but I consider Dodge City a one&done destination. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Yes, this park is new. Yes, this park has fairly level, very long, and wide, concrete parking pads. But, the sites are VERY close together, and they are way overpriced for what they offer. They do not have any amenities that would classify them as a "resort", but they are charging resort prices for their sites. This is an OK park for an overnight stay, but not anyplace you would want to spend more time than that. And whatever you do, do NOT step onto the grass without shoes on, or let your dog walk on the grass!! There are STICKERS everywhere!! We had to pull stickers out of our dog's feet every time we took them out. They could hardly walk just a few feet without stepping on at least one. When we checked out, we complained about the stickers to the employee behind the desk. She told us that she would tell the manager again, that someone had complained. She said that almost everyone complained about them, but the manager had not done anything about it yet. We will not be returning to this park. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful new park and great for families. Sites are wide concrete sites--wide enough to park a motorhome and walk around both sides of it without leaving the concrete. Sewers are a little high. There is a waterpark and swimming pool in the park next to the campground and it is walking distance to Boot Hill attractions. The tax, however, is outrageous. Sales tax and tourist tax adds almost $10 to the already high price of $55. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a fairly new RV park and we realize that the management must be working out the kinks. The Pull thru sites were quite long and wide but all of hook ups are all at the very beginning of the site which made it difficult for our Class A motor home pulling a tow car. These sites are made more for Either 5th wheels or travel trailers. The sites were lined with new grass but there were weeds and stickers that got stuck in our shoes and the paws of our dogs. We really liked the Dodge City dog park. Very Friendly people with their dogs. They do not have any discount programs. I.e. Good Sam, etc. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park but way over priced. I'd say the previous reviewer had it about right -- I like the park but not the price. They need to put up some directional signs. I was in the neighborhood but meandered around before I spotted the right street. Like other "Resorts" -- the name means more $$. If it is going to be called a resort, it should have a pool at the very least. Not sure I'd do it again. We camped in a 40' motor home. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Boot Hill Museum was fantastic if you like 1880's history. Fabulous! Quite undersold -- should be advertised better. It is about the best in the whole country! I wish we'd have done this years ago. Very authentic displays, videos, artifacts in museum after museum after museum. What a find!

This is a brand new park right in the heart of Fort Dodge next to the city park, city zoo, and water park. The roads are nice and wide and easy to maneuver for a big rig. The pull thru's and concrete back in pads are extra wide so there is no mud or dirt at the end of your steps. My concrete site was perfectly level front to back but slightly sloped side to side; 1 "logo" block easily leveled the RV. The hook-ups are in the proper place with good electricity, water pressure 30-40 psi, good sewer connection, great cable selection, and excellent wifi connection. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Many trees have been planted and will take some time to grow and provide shade. There is a tornado shelter that is easily accessible and a nearby tornado siren. This was important to me since severe storms were in the area when we stayed there. The GPS will guide you down 4th Ave and through the parking lot of the city park which could be tight to impossible for some big rigs. An alternative route is to turn south off of Wyatt Earp Blvd onto 14th Ave and then turn east on Park Street. Weakness of this park include they do not take Good Sams or other discounts and it can be difficult to maneuver to off of 4th Ave. This is not a RV resort but a very nice new RV park (Resort means to me perks like pools, gym, adult activities like tennis, etc.). I highly recommend this new park. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This appears to be a new park and they are still working out some kinks. When we checked in the attendant did not provide a map (don't think they have them yet) nor a password for the wireless. These are pretty minor quibbles. The streets are very wide and paved. All sites for RVs have concrete pads. We had a pull through site. This was probably the longest pull through site we have ever stayed in. It was over 90 ft long and maybe 14 ft wide and all concrete.

Do not use your GPS to get to this park once in Dodge City. Mine routed me onto Park St from 4th Ave...which is a very small parking lot now. A Holiday Inn Express stands where the road used to be. Coming off Wyatt Earp Blvd, turn south onto 4th Ave. From 4th Ave, turn west onto Trail St. Turn south onto Park St and the park will be on your left. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Brand new park that is adjacent to the city complex of zoo/playground/waterpark. Walking distance to old town Dodge City including the Boot Hill Museum, its chuck wagon dinner, and show at the Long Branch Saloon. Level concrete pull-thru slabs with all hook-ups available. No shade but you can see buffalo at the zoo on your way in/out. There is a small store in the office. Bathrooms were clean. WiFi and some of the cable television channels were not working when we were there. Rate reflects a two night-stay, complete package at the Boot Hill Museum, including dinner and the show. Great deal! We really loved the folks here. Nice people, charming place. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nice, new park right in the center of downtown Dodge City, next door to the water park. There is no shade yet but it looks like there will be once the trees mature. The check in/store/laundry is very comfortable and clean and there are 3 well appointed brand new dump stations at the entrance. Sites are large and level and clean. My back in was very private in terms of neighbors, as I had a corner, but some are very close to each other. Drawback was that my rear dinette overlooked a grass field that was nice to look at but I had a steady stream of locals walking by my window, which was a little weird. It was also very close to the train track but I thought that was kind of cool. Train doesn't pass too often and it was fun to watch it when it did even though it shook my whole trailer. Guy at the front desk is a really nice kid. Trying very hard to make people feel welcome. I enjoyed my stay, it's nice to see a park that's being well kept up. This is a new park. Concrete long level pads. It's on the dry Arkansas River bed. Close to Boot Hill museum. Only problem we saw was there was no security, people driving through and walking along the levee which runs right behind the park. Two washers and dryers.
