Sep 2016 - $32.00
This campground is so tight you can hardly move. I had to unhook and back in and there was no place in the campground to hook up in the morning. The concrete pads are very old and broken up. Most of the spots are used by people who are living there full time. Many of those are men with very large trucks that make moving around the place difficult.
The woman at the desk was nice enough but I would never have gone there if I had had a choice. - Discus 277
Sep 2016 - $35.00
We picked this campground from a 2013 Good Sam book. We need a new one! Things have changed around here. It should be rated no more than a 5 and that is generous. The office area was trashed with cigarette butts not a welcoming sight. And the office it self stunk. The woman was friendly and led us to our site which was full of potholes. No grass, no picnic table, small pad that I guess is the patio. But we parked there so our jeep was off the street. We usually walk around in the evening but not here. Just not pleasant. - Tahoewinegirl
Jul 2016 - $45.00
Just stayed one night. Was surprised that it is in the middle of businesses on a main street. Was very warmly greeted. Very friendly and accomodating. Had what we needed and created a long pull through by putting us on two sites. Last minute stop on our route. All gravel. No complaints for our use. Easy in and out through the back entrance. - Umbrella
Jun 2017 - $14.00
Our particular site was in the open, however, close to the restroom/showers. The owners were very friendly. - 1dinky

We stayed here because it is a Passport America park and based on previous reviews. A year ago, someone rated this park a ten. Really? A ten? This park is not a ten rating. I am surprised by the previous reviews. There is no staging area when you pull into the park. We were blocking the road while checking in at the office/private residence. We had a reservation and were already assigned a spot. The manager told me it was the only spot available. Sites are close together. There are numerous large, established shade trees, but those spots were taken by permanent residents. Previous review said only 2-3 spots available for overnighters. I believe that is accurate. We were given what must be the worst spot in the park. We parked parallel to the park road near the exit. We were barely out of the road and about 50 yards from Highway 59. Traffic noise was very bad. Worse was that our awning side was next to the interior road. We literally stepped out into the road when we opened our door. We got half price ($15.00) first night (Passport America) and a further discount ($20.00 second night). Great Internet. - Phaeton2
Jun 2016 - $20.00
Although this campground has over 22 sites, only 4-5 sites are available for traveling RVer's. The rest of the sites are being used by long term residents. The park has the look and feel of a mobile park. Some sites have a lot of "stuff" around their area. The park still looks OK, but it can easily get out of hand.
All available sites have FHU, some are pull-thus. The utility box contains 50/30 electrical amperage and the location of the box varies from site to site. The voltage was hovering around 122 volts even with all of the air conditioners running. Our water connection was shared between two rigs, but other sites did not.
The interior roads and sites were on packed gravel and some sites had a small concrete patio area. The sites appear to be fairly level. There is a small work out room with a stair master and weights. There is one bathroom with shower for the entire park located within the laundry room. There are (2) washers at $1.50 and (2) dryers at $1.50.
The WiFi was very good but that may depend upon where your site is. Verizon air card and phone reception was good. The campground is very quiet.
The park is about 4 miles from St. Joseph making it a very good location. The Patee house is an excellent museum. We would come back to this park. We have a 32 foot 5th wheel. - adsaxs
Jun 2017 - $30.00
Very nice people. County road is dusty. Interstate you can see and hear it. I'd stay again but I would refuse site 16 it should be 1/3 off discount. So very narrow it was fun getting out in the am. It has a shade tree, but people have hit that tree quite a few times pulling out. - JustDon
Nov 2016 - $29.00
Nice little park. Country setting. Close to highway so truck noise did take away from the setting. Owners are very nice people who are working hard to fix the place up. As mentioned, the gravel road in off the highway is very dusty. Close to town. We had the best spot - #23. Faces the pond. Pool closed for season but it would have been nice for it to be open considering the hot unseasonable weather but I understand why it wasn't. Bathrooms under renovation still but it seems like they're trying to make then really user friendly especially the showers. The sites are opposite side facing for a single set of hookups. Some sites are quite sloped. We would definitely stay again. - Moe and Beth
Sep 2016 - $1.00
We are staying long term for work so we pay a long term rate. Hosts are wonderful people, very kind, hard working, willing to help out if you need it! Spots are rocked, clean, have picnic tables and fire pits. The ponds are stocked for fishing, laundry on site as well as a very nice pool! A definite must stay location you will be glad you did!!! Oh and they are pet friendly but I keep pups on a leash, so as to not bother other campers - Diane and pups
Aug 2016 - $25.00
Very clean campground, Electric and Sewer hookups, potable water at entrance, fire rings, and picnic tables provided, Fishing is great, can take pets with leash, and horses, they have stables to the west for your horses. plenty of parking, lots of space and lots of walking trails. RV Park manager was very easy going. Had no problems at all. - Billy Whited
Aug 2016 - $20.00
Nice state park on the Lewis & Clark trail. Grassy wide sites, gravel "pads" but concrete patio with wooden covers for sun, although there is lots of shade trees. Electric only but some have 50 amp. About 1/2 reservable and 1/2 first come first served which was not a problem for mid week. Nice trails and some birding.
Too bad there is no official swimming, and although some do swim, you are with ALL of the geese and their mess.
Biggest problem is that trees over roads NEED trimming. There were at least 6 trees that dragged on our 13'5" coach. Also, some sites not level: but 38 and 39 were fine. - BandD
May 2016 - $10.00
We stopped here for one night while traveling. We did not have a reservation. About half the sites were available. The sites that were available to us were electric only. The pads were packed gravel and were variably unlevel. There was much shade, but there was also a lot of large puddles of water after a recent rain. I thought about how that will attract mosquitoes in warmer weather. The best part of the park was the day use area next to the oxbow lake and the paved walking trail to the Lewis & Clark historical exhibits. - Tidy Boy
Jun 2015 - $20.00
Nice state park, near Missouri river, easy access off our route. Only electric hookups at site, but several water faucets available for filling up, also at dump station. The host said they had some recent heavy rains and there was several areas of standing water throughout the park, therefor a lot of mosquitoes. Someone was spraying the park, so hopefully it got better.
Small convenient laundry in bathhouse building. - housecar
Jun 2016 - $19.00
This is a nice Missouri State Park located in a small village surrounded by farmland. It is a place to stay while visiting St. Joseph, MO, even though it is 30 minutes away. We had strong 30 amp service. There was no water at the site; the easiest place to fill a tank is at the dump station, but there are a few faucets located throughout the campground. We did not use the bath houses, but did note the nice laundry room. The sites are attractive with many having covered picnic tables, but it could certainly use a good cleaning. The sites are fairly level but are unusually narrow. The campground is partially shaded. We were able to use our portable dish to get satellite TV. We had strong Verizon voice and data. Since it is in a small village, it has more of an urban feel than a rural or remote feel, but we found it pleasant. It is fairly quite at night, but not dark as the surrounding houses have some bright lights. We would stay here again to visit St. Joseph. - TheJim
Aug 2013 - $19.00
This is a campground on a large lake with lots of lush green grass and huge shade trees. The large shaded sites have electric only, but potable water is available at the free, easy access dump station near the entry/exit. Most sites have a picnic table with a fire pit and some have a wind shelter surrounding the table. The camp host was super nice and helpful. The restrooms/showers were very clean. There is a boat ramp, but it was closed for repairs. The lake side picnic areas are great for bird watching and fishing. This park is between St. Joseph and Kansas City and within four miles of many restaurants and a WalMart in Atchison, Kansas We camped here in a fifth wheel over the Labor Day weekend and will stay here again. - candyd
Aug 2009 - $19.00
Only 19 miles to St Joesph. Nice level sites, some paved most are not. Very easy access. We take our bikes and this was a nice area to bike. Check out the overview of the lake. Missouri State Parks are always nice. - stetwood
Jun 2013 - $8.00
The road leading to this facility from Hwy 59 are in frightful condition. Fortunately we decided to drive the tow car there and leave the RV safely in a parking lot. We did not actually stay here because of the condition of the roughly two miles of very rough road. We were afraid we would damage the RV if we tried to come back with it. Interesting to note that there was no one parked there at all. - Sharie
Oct 2012 - $10.00
Nice place. Pull through's are laid out in a big circle and you pull to the curb for your site. Cement block rest rooms/showers: didn't use. Plenty of trails and places to walk. Biggest downside to this place is finding it. You have to go a couple miles and a few turns to get here. It is not a destination park, but I have no problem staying here for a day or two. - WC7610
Sep 2012 - $10.00
Small public campground. Quiet and clean. 50/30/20 amp available. Water available not at the sites. No dump station. Great value. - User2786
