I came in on May 16th. and no one in the office, note said pick a site and we will be in at 4:00PM. My first site was very uneven and when I hooked up to electric, the service was out. I moved to another site and set up. I went to the office at 4:30 and was informed that a 50 amp site was $37.00. Not the most friendly staff, the sites were not marked well, so they had to make a trip to my camper to get the number. I live in RV parks an average of two weeks a month and this one would not be a planned return. Also I was informed that 12:00 PM was check out time. The WiFi was poor and no local TV channels with antenna. The sites are pretty close to each other and the Kansas Turnpike and Hwy 50 traffic noise is 24/7. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Emporia is a college town, downtown active. A side trip to Cottonwood Falls is worth the effort, nice old town with camping in the city park and a interesting down town with shops and a couple of eateries.

Thought we would try this park for an overnight on our way north. Easy to find and entrance is well marked on Hwy 50, though mind the traffic when you enter and exit. Interior roads gravel with gravel sites and strip of grass between sites. Pedestal with back-to-back double 20/30/50 receptacles and water pipe with double hose bibs are placed decent in grass divide. Two sewer drops also in divide because park is set up primarily as door to door travel buddy sites. When not crowded they assign you every other one so you are not door to door. Not a typical park design in my opinion. No cable or ota but they have a cable box they give you to use. We tried to make it work and another party did too but to no avail. The office building appears to be in the "KOA" style that they used for many years. It was ok for and overnight but we probably won't return. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be mindful that you are within 200 feet of a major expressway/turnpike so road noise will be constant. There are also active RR tracks in this area and the trains run 24/7.

Noise from two highways was horrible, loud semi traffic all night long, was told we had electricity, had to have a splitter and long extension cord to piggyback off of one of two outlets. No fire rings, no picnic tables, just put your tent up in the lawn area. We left after first night. They would not refund for the two nights we didn't stay! Only bright spot was the employee In office, she was very nice, but she is not the boss so she couldn't refund out two nights herself. Free quiet campground 15 miles over at Chase State Fishing Lake. No electricity but they had tables and fire rings. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Tent.

Good stop over spot. The third time here and we had the last spot. There was a large disc golf event in town and the park was full. Sites are close together and face to face. Both will not be able to open the awnings. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sites are tight but adequate. Some full sun and some shade. They are all pull through. Office is only open after 4 pm so be sure to wait to call. They have plenty of sites and it seems to be only for travelers. Very few permanent. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

Easy check in. Office staff very friendly and helpful. Didn't have to unhook toad. Staff recommended several restaurants near by, we chose Chinese buffet that was good. Sites were close together with quiet neighbors. Park is located at the junction of two interstates so there was constant noise from the interstate highways. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overnight stop on our way to AZ. Park is easy in and out with a Pilot close by. If you are a light sleeper this is not the place for you with the semi noise from the next door interstate on/off ramp. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

The cleanest showers and restrooms ever! Lots of hot water and heated. The park facilities looked a little run down upon entering and we couldn't get ahold of anyone to see if they had availability, until after 4 in the afternoon. But pulled in and sign said to set up and register after 4. Older facility but Very friendly, helpful and good for an overnight stay. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

The sites and road are gravel. There are no trees. We saw people walking their dogs, but no one cleaning up after their dogs. There is a lot of highway noise from I-35 . There were a lot of trains the night we were there. We came in on a Sunday, and the sign said the office was only open from 4pm to 7pm that day. They have Wi-Fi, but the signal was so weak, we couldn't connect to it. AT&T cell phone signal was strong, so we used our phones as a hotspot. Antenna TV is nonexistent. I see some previous reviewers said they have cable, but we were not informed about cable TV, when we checked in. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

Good for one night, being close to major highway, especially if you can run AC/fan to drown out the noise from two highways and lots of trains. Staff was only on site a few hours a day. Considerable amount of trash laying on ground, but we stayed shortly after a good rain/wind storm, so everything was quite wet. Probably would not return. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Easy access from highway with Flying J .2 mile away. Wide streets making it easy for larger rigs. If full, sites are very close. Pull-through sites alternate entry, so you step out on the same side your neighbor does, offering very little privacy if you are both sitting out at the same time. Very, very close to highway, making it very noisy even with all windows closed. Sites were gravel at one time but mostly dirt now, and mud if any rain. Grass hasn't been cut for awhile and trash laying around. Office only opened 3 hours a day in the evening, although they do leave a map and site assignment taped to the door if they know you are coming. No cable and Wi-Fi very, very weak...pretty much non-existent. Didn't use laundry but dryers look vintage. If in this area again, will research other campgrounds. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This RV park is basically the only choice in the area. It is very close to the interstate which is great for a quick stop but also has some noise from traffic (really wasn't bad). Only a block from Flying J and close to town. Grocery store about 1 mile away and many restaurants. We recommend Gambinos pizza. We camped here two nights to attend the local county fair. This campground is basically a gravel parking lot. They have cable TV if you can get the cable box to work. The Wi-Fi might work if you are in the first space or two next to the office but too weak to reach into the park. They have a nice park-like play area, self service laundry. Spaces are close together but it wasn't crowded so it didn't seem to be a problem. No campfires or fire rings. Management seemed OK but not overly friendly. We would stay here again if needed. We paid $28 a night with Good Sam discount. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice, convenient campground. Great place for a break. Clean, nice pull-throughs. Only drawback is it's next to Kansas turnpike so there is some traffic noise, but overall a decent place. Staff very helpful. We recommend this as a good convenient place for a break. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.

Check in was speedy and easy. Staff was pleasant, friendly, and informative. The park was small in size but was well maintained. Laundry facilities were great with sufficient equipment, a laundry tub basin, and most importantly adequate chairs. Access to the grounds was easy as well as exiting. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

I try to be fair when reviewing campgrounds, but this was a tough one. First of all, the office was closed when we arrived, but there was a note in the door directing us to our site. The manager came by later to collect and was a rude person. The site was long enough for our RV & car with W/S/50AMP/WIFI, but no cable although it was advertised as included. This campground is in between 1-35 on one side and Hwy. 50 on the other, and also a railroad crossing out back. Very, very noisy. All the sites are side by side. The site next to us set up a dog fence with 2 big dogs, and it was almost at our door step. That's what I call really close and rude. The whole place is dirty and scruffy, even the dirt is dirty. Trailer Life rates this 7.5/8.5/6.5. I think they need to take a closer look. Worse place we have ever stayed; glad to leave early next morning. We camped at Emporia RV Park in a Motorhome.
