1 Park near Halstead, Kansas
May 2015 - $14.00
This is our second stay here. This time we were in a pull through that was almost level. The site was gravel with grass, picnic table, and charcoal grill. There is both free and paid WiFi. I tried the free WiFi and found it slow, but since there is excellent Verizon 4G coverage, we used our hotspot instead. - Ned

Tornado Alley. We arrived mid-week and were escorted to our site where setup was pretty routine. The section we were assigned is drive-thru sites with full hook-ups. The only issue might be front to back level, low in the front but easy to compensate for. Utilities are handy, sites are gravel with hard surface streets, BBQ stands and picnic tables. The way the wind blows here good luck with BBQ. There are storm shelters in two locations in the CG. To avoid the doggie population use the basement at the office building. There are a series of lakes with stocked fish, Canada Geese, no swimming. One tornado missed the CG by 2-3 miles, others were no issue. Halstead is small town Kansas and the folks are friendly. Even with the heavy rains and winds we experienced the CG was still accessible and not a lot of standing water. The county road between KS-50 and the CG gets a little soft. There are few trees in the CG and that leaves the hilltop open to the winds so batten down the hatches when you set up. HDTV not great but a few stations. Cell phone coverage, none. There is plenty of room, several rental sites and long-term residents but everyone is friendly and sites are well maintained. This is a good place, stop over for the night or spend a few days relaxing and sightseeing in Hutchinson. We will return when through the area. - SilverBear

Excellent hosts, very helpful. Internet access was available, and worked ok most of the time.
Would be a great place to spend a week or so, with the lake and the available activities.
Will stay again if in the area. - Rick & Pam
