2 RV Parks near Hill City, Kansas
Jul 2016 - $15.00
Great place for an overnight stay. The restrooms were open, which was a good thing since we were under a severe thunderstorm warning and took shelter there! We would stay again if we are passing through. - junmy3
Jul 2016 - $10.00
Sites are scattered in an unlevel grassy field near a rodeo arena. There are multiple 50 amp plug-ins on poles here and there, and some have water connections. There is also a dump station. The county website indicates that there are rest rooms with showers but the two we found were both padlocked. Payment is on the honor system using a slot in the side of the ticket booth at the rodeo arena. This is a nice quiet place for an overnight stop. - PodPeople
Apr 2015 - $10.00
Quiet and spacious as no one else was there. There are about 10 50 amp and numerous 30 amp and smaller scattered all around the fairgrounds on utility poles. There are water spigots spread throughout. Dump is located on the north end of the fairgrounds behind the 4-H building. Look for signs. Payment is on the honor system and there is a slot on the west side of the ticket building. If in area, will stay again if nothing is going on at the fairgrounds. - ob's place

First started staying here in 2003 But I don't recall ever taking the time to review. This is a great campground and a great location. Close to highway but far enough so noise isn't an issue. Large, long pull thru's with FHU's, a great enclosed dog park, and all the niceties one expects from a great KOA! Western KS is usually pretty beat up from the lack of rain but this place stays pretty green thanks to caring enough to irrigate. Check in is a breeze & I always appreciate an escort to my site. I'm a fan of KOAs and this WaKeeney KOA is one of the nicest I've ever seen. You won't be disappointed. We just stayed one night 9/15 and had a wonderful, restful stay to hit the road again refreshed. Great job folks your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. - Two Jayhawks
Sep 2018 - $35.00
Entrance road under repair so had to deviate thru aneighborhood. Hard to see the Detour sign until we'd made the turn so luckily had enough room to turn around in the fuel station on the corner! Nice, easy check-in with friendly staff. Made sure we were told about root beer floats/ice cream available in office from 5:00-6:30. Pretty empty when we pulled in; almost full by sunset. Right off I-70 so perfect for 1-night stop on our way west. Some highway noise but not unexpected due to proximity. We had window open overnight with no noise issues. Very windy and pouring rain before sunset but full rainbow over row of coaches was pretty stunning! - monamonaco

This is a "one night stopover" park. Almost the entire park is pull-throughs and access to sites is easy--once you are inside the park. The park is entered off the I-80 access road which is extremely rutted. I realize this isn't the park's fault, but it ought to work with local authorities to make it passable. The park itself has an extremely narrow entrance driveway with no place for RV's to park while registering. As a result, if more than one customer shows up at the same time, everyone other than the first one in line has to sit in their vehicles out on the road. That didn't matter all that much, I guess, because there was only one person behind the registration counter and only one person to escort customers to their sites. ~15 minutes to register despite having a prepaid registration = ridiculous IMHO. - docj
